The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter-Chapter 986: WAKE UP, YOU ARE DREAMING
Chapter 986: WAKE UP, YOU ARE DREAMING
"What is the basis of your claim?" Iris narrowed her eyes dangerously at her. She would be able to squeeze her wolf spirit, but she didn’t need to do that. "Because the previous king named him as an heir? That reason is very shallow, don’t you think?"
Laluna didn’t answer that, she knew it was very shallow.
"Do you really think you can make your baby as the king without any merit? Do you want to be the queen mother? Do you even know how to rule a kingdom?"
Iris smiled at Laluna harmlessly.
"Do you want to take the throne? Good luck with that. Let’s see whether the people will follow your lead."
Iris was about to leave, but Laluna had not yet done.
"Don’t you think that you are being too greedy? You wanted to get what is the birthright of my son." Laluna grabbed Iris’s hand to prevent her from leaving, but the luna swatted her hand, but she stayed to listen to her gibberish.
"You better live silently and don’t make any noise, if you knew better for yourself and your baby," Iris finally spoke in the end of her rambling.
"You showed your true self. How could this kingdom be led by greedy people like you two?!" Laluna felt like she was going to lose it. Without her son, she was nothing and even more when her son didn’t hold any title, then she was a mere member of the pack.
She was glad that Koda died, but without any man to back her, she couldn’t do much and her son didn’t hold any real power.
"Greedy?" Iris scoffed. "We lost thousand, no, hundred thousand of people during the war, more than half of this continent was being wiped out because of it."
Iris gritted her teeth when she recalled all the name of the people that she lost. What kind of brutality that she and all the people had to endure.
"While we were fighting out there with our lives on the line, you were here, complaining about what? Bedroom? While we were out there, thinking this would be the end of us, here you were, trying to find a way to put your baby on the throne to rule the kingdom that is on the verge of collapse. Do you even know how to feed the people, protect our land, make a plan and what is actually happening right now?"
Iris clapped her hand sarcastically.
"Wake up. You are dreaming, come back to reality. You don’t even qualify to be the head servant to take care a pack house. You don’t have any quality aside from complaining." Iris took a step closer toward Laluna, which made her to step back.
Laluna had never seen Iris like this before. She was completely different from that timid woman she met the first time in the palace. She was not this harsh when they met the last time too.
"You call me greedy to be the queen of this kingdom?" Iris took a step forward again, which made Laluna took another step back, she felt intimidated. "After all I have done and all the pain I have gone through, after all the people that I lost in order to kill the enemy... I deserve it. I deserve the title."
Laluna swallowed so hard, she felt like she was a prey in front of the predator.
"Call me greedy, but even you have to admit that I am a better leader than you." Iris was so angry because of how ignorant this woman was. The dead people during the war didn’t hold any significant value in her eyes. "If you were the one, who ruled this kingdom. Give it two months and there wouldn’t be a kingdom to be ruled."
At this point, Laluna didn’t even want to have this argumentation with Iris anymore, she wanted her to stay away from her because she scared her.
"Go out there, fight those monsters and protect the people, after that, you can call me greedy for wanting to be the queen. At the very least, if you didn’t have any common sense, you have a merit or two to claim the title."
After saying that Iris left Laluna there. This time, she didn’t even dare to stop her because she wanted her to leave. She couldn’t breathe properly with her presence.
"I don’t know what you were talking about with her, luna, but you looked so cool!" Joel said when Iris entered the luna’s bedroom. Apparently, he and Finn could see her and Laluna from where they were standing.
Iris flashed him a smile before she entered the bedroom and found her babies were sleeping. Hanna was there, while Aliana had to take care of something.
Finn and Joel were Zander and Zenith’s personal protectors, their status would be made it official in her and Cane’s coronation.
"How are they?" Iris asked, she caressed Zander’s little hand.
"As sweet as angels," Hanna said.
"My sweet angels..."
Over the next two weeks, Iris was busy with all the preparation for the ceremony, while Cane busy with the plan with what to do with this kingdom and how to ensure their safety. Cane and Iris distributed their responsibility really well.
While Cane looked for their safety from the invasion of the other continent and the equitable development in all area, also overlooked all the rules and created new law, Iris would make sure all the people’s needs were fulfilled, at the very least, no one would go to bed hungry. The distribution of logistic between the last three packs ran smoothly thanked to Iris.
Meanwhile, Joyce finally met with Annie, the girl was so happy to see her sister again, she introduced her to all her friend in the orphanage.
Joyce did not know what happened to Annie during her time in the palace, but Annie didn’t seem like she was going to tell her, which was fine.
But, Annie and the other children under Kellan’s abuse still had a hard time to clean up themselves, it still etched in their mind the belief that they shouldn’t look clean, or else they would attract unwanted attention.
But with time, they would slowly heal from that trauma...
On the tenth night, four days before the coronation, Iris and Cane were having light conversation about their day on their bed, while Zander and Zenith were laying down between them too.
Zander kept interrupting their conversation, while making baby noise, while Zenith was happy enough to play with Iris’s curls.
"Yes, I think it’s a good idea what Lou said," Iris voiced out her opinion.
"Ah- goo...." Zander made noises.
"That’s not bad." Cane nodded.
"Haa- fuuu... Hamh- ma... hma..."
And when they stared at him, it surprised them both when Zander moved his little body, trying to roll over, but got stuck and then cried.
Cane helped him and put him on his stomach, as he kicked his legs and swatted his arms excitedly. He lifted his head for a while and babbling.
It was so fascinating of how little thing like this could warm your heart and made all the pain and tired day became worth it.
