Chapter 963: THE FINAL BATTLE (29)

Iris created a barrier around them when they entered the poisonous miasma, but their heart couldn’t stop beating very fast when they witnessed what was going on here.

Currently, they were heading toward the Golden Light pack. They had seen the destruction from Decratic’s backlash in Capital City and Red Claw pack, but here, they learned that the poisonous miasma was still active and the monsters still emerged from the fissures.

At first, Cane hesitated to tell Iris about the pillars and Letto, but in the end, he decided not to hold any information against her, she had as much right as he did to know what happened.

Her reaction was understandable.

Iris refused to kill Letto. The boy didn’t deserve to die as he joined with the wrong people when he didn’t have any other choice.

Cane let her decided what would happen to Letto after he explained to her in great detail what the consequences of it. He made sure Iris understood her decision if she let him lived.

"I will figure out how to solve this without killing him," Iris said grimly. She hated Decratic so much to make Letto as one of the pillars.

"I trust you." Cane leaned over and kissed her forehead.

However, the reality became very difficult when they got closer to Golden Light pack. It was very clear that this place had been shrouded by poisonous miasma. If Aliana and the other were still here, they must have died.

Cane and the other warriors fought the monsters and even though it was not easy, since they were outnumbered, but with the lycan’s strength and Iris’s power, it was possible.

"My device is active," Lou said, as they stood in front of the gates of the Golden Light pack after they killed a bunch of monsters.

Ethan and Jace was very quiet. They didn’t say anything along the way here, but you could sense the tension that rolled off their body.

The two of them were adamant to make stay behind because they didn’t want something bad happened to her, yet this happened.

Iris approached Ethan and Jace, she held their hand silently, offering her comfort. Ethan squeezed her hand and breathed deeply, while Jace said ’thank you’ faintly.

Meanwhile, Lou was trying to deactivate his device, so they could enter the pack and it didn’t take long for him to do that.

This place was filled with poisonous miasma and they had to glue close to Iris, since she created the protection around them.

The more they entered the pack, the more they could see the aftermath of it. They had to be extra careful, because of the fissures on the ground.

Iris was sitting on Lil Thing’s back with black beast beside her, while some of the warriors had shifted into their beast form to make it easier for them to move around.

Ethan and Jace looked very grim when Cezi opened the door of the pack house. They had imagined the worse to prepare themselves, but when they saw the place was empty and was sure all of the people here had evacuated, Ethan dropped to his knees and covered his face. He was shaking.

Iris immediately got off Lil Thing’s back and hugged the gamma.

"They must have runaway before the poisonous miasma reached this house," Iris said. "They must be still alive. We only needed to find them quickly."

Ethan nodded, but he said nothing, while Jace seemed more able to compose himself and Redmond gave him a pat on the shoulder.

For now, they were going to stay in this pack house and would continue to look for Aliana and the other early in the morning. More so, the girls needed to rest too, they looked exhausted, though they didn’t say anything, since they were taught not to complain.

"What are you doing here? Cane will go crazy if he couldn’t find you," Redmond said, he followed Iris out in the open area, as she came closer to the nearest fissure, trying to figure out what to do with it.

She could purify the poisonous miasma, but the red smoke that had spread around was too much for her to handle.

"You know about Letto?" Iris asked. She stared at the red smoke with impassive expression. "What do you think I should do?"

Redmond knew about the pillar and Letto, the fact that they had to kill him was a little bit uncomfortable, especially after a few days and they learned he was not evil. He took care of the girls and it didn’t feel right to kill him.

"To be honest, I don’t know. But, if you asked me whether I have to kill him or not if I were in your shoes, then the answer is I will." Redmond used to use logic when he made a decision, this time was the same as well. "Killing one person to save hundred or even thousand of people, I think it’s worth it."

Iris furrowed her brows a little bit. She knew where Redmond came from and his answer was not surprising. That was how people like him made a decision. Cane in the past, wouldn’t have discussed this with her and he would immediately take the first opportunity to kill Letto. Her mate had been very lenient with her now.

"But, I know you will not do that, or else, that young man would have died long ago." Redmond tugged her sleeve and gestured for her to return to the pack house. "I believe you will figure this out. You always did. You have come along the way to this point."

Iris followed Redmond to enter the pack house. She glanced over her shoulder at the poisonous miasma once again.

=================================

It was not a nice place, but at the very least, the red smoke had not spread to this area. Currently, Aliana and the other managed to survive their predicament, thanked to the elders.

There were not many of them that left, from the total of more than five hundreds people, right now there were only less a hundred that survived.

Thankfully, they found Aliana and now Elder Xarex and Elder Dandolf were taking care of her, she breathed a lot of poisonous miasma and they were not an expert to purify it.

This place was a cliff between Bloody Wolf pack and Chrystal Moon pack, if they went straight to the south, they would see the harbor.

"Thank you for your help," Aliana said. It didn’t feel good to be saved by the people that you initially chased away, but she was grateful nonetheless.

"You don’t have too," Elder Rose said, she was holding Bielle in her arms and his gaze softened when the baby stretched out her arms and touched her face.

Elder Rose might have treated Abby horribly since she was born, but she looked determined to compensate that and treated her granddaughter better.

"I know why you have done that," Elder Rose replied.

"I thought you have left to Andel." Aliana remembered the report she received.

"No. I am not going to leave without my daughter and granddaughter, there are many things I have to do to atone for my sins."
