The Aloof Lord's Mysterious Wife-Chapter 458: You Were Adopted, You Are Not a Child of Chu Family!
Chapter 458: You Were Adopted, You Are Not a Child of Chu Family!
So Chu Yan decided that he would no longer be troubled by his origins.
The most important thing was that he could stay with his family in peace and health.
After sending the gifts to the Cheng family, Chu Yan set out.
Although it was cold today, it hadn’t snowed, so he took the opportunity to visit Song Zihan.
With the help of his sixth sister, Song Zihan’s soul was gradually recovering. After some time, he was now able to respond a little when others spoke to him.
Chu Yan had given a lot of gifts to the Song family. After staying for about half an hour, he said his farewells, as he still had academic work to attend to.
The carriage had only gone halfway when it suddenly stopped.
Chu Yan was about to ask the driver what was wrong when someone leaped onto the carriage with considerable agility.
The weather was gloomy, and the light inside the carriage was dim.
But Chu Yan recognized the person at once.
It was Cheng Wei!
"Lord Cheng?" Chu Yan was taken aback, then a bit angry, "What are you doing?"
Cheng Wei, dressed in vigorous attire with a long sword at his waist, smiled, "Young Master Chu, don’t be afraid. I was entrusted by your elder brother to take you somewhere so that you can reunite with your siblings."
Since Xue Shengnan’s death, he had been worried for a while. Fortunately, she had died cleanly and did not reveal his identity.
He had waited at the mansion with the Teleportation Talisman but did not see Chu Yan come in person.
He now understood that Chu Yan was not planning to investigate his biological mother’s affairs any further.
With no other options, he had to block Chu Yan here. If he didn’t take Chu Yan back soon, His Majesty would be furious and think him incompetent.
Chu Yan shrank back, wary, "Lord Cheng, my brothers are at the marquis’s residence. There’s no need for you to guide me."
Cheng Wei said, "They are not your biological brothers. The person I am taking you to meet is your only blood relative in this world. You are not a Chu family child; you were only adopted by Chu Hanlin."
Chu Yan’s eyes widened in shock.
He shouted angrily, "What nonsense are you talking about?! They are all my real brothers!"
Cheng Wei knew he would find it hard to accept all at once, so he said, "If you don’t believe me, come with me and you’ll understand everything!"
Chu Yan’s hands and feet grew cold. He didn’t care about others; he only cared about his relationship with his brothers and sisters.
This couldn’t be true.
How could he have no blood relation with them?
His eyes reddened, and he said coldly, "Just because you say something doesn’t mean I have to believe it. You are sneaky and untrustworthy. If I truly am not my father’s biological child, then have my blood relative come to the marquis’s residence to prove my identity!"
Cheng Wei raised an eyebrow, surprised that Chu Yan could stay so composed despite the shocking news.
He chuckled, "He can’t come right now. Please, Young Master, come with me."
"Not a chance!" Chu Yan knew he had hidden guards protecting him and wondered why they hadn’t acted yet. Were they blind to Cheng Wei climbing onto the carriage?
Cheng Wei saw his confused expression and guessed his thoughts.
"Master Chu, since I dare come, I have made full preparations," he said. "Dealing with two hidden guards is not difficult."
Chu Yan’s body tensed, and he instinctively raised his hand, wanting to hurt himself.
Cheng Wei was already prepared and immediately restrained his hand and sealed his acupoints.
He smiled, "Young Master, don’t hurt yourself so easily. Otherwise, your brothers will be heartbroken."
Chu Yan quickly made a threat, "I have a talisman drawn by my sixth sister. If I don’t return before nightfall, she will come looking for me."
Cheng Wei didn’t care and slowly said, "After learning your identity, your brother knew it wouldn’t be easy to take you away, so he sent a valuable item ahead."
He took out a small stone that looked peculiar and had strange runes carved on it.
After hanging it around Chu Yan’s neck, the stone emitted a sharp light, and the runes glowed, enveloping Chu Yan’s entire body.
The light merged into Chu Yan’s body.
He panicked, "What is this?!"
Cheng Wei reassured him, "Don’t worry, Young Master. This stone was left by the White-Browed Priest. It can shield all your aura, making it perfect for evading detection."
Chu Yan was shocked, stuttering, "You... you said what? White-Browed Priest?!"
If he remembered correctly, wasn’t the White-Browed Priest from the Qi Nation? Previously, his disciple had occupied his aunt’s corpse and attempted to harm his family!
Cheng Wei was from the Qi Nation!
Could it be... that he is also from the Qi Nation?!
Seeing Chu Yan’s stunned expression, Cheng Wei decided to stop there. Revealing this much information had already caused Chu Yan such a reaction. If he knew his biological brother was His Majesty, he might be driven to despair.
It’s better to take it slow.
"Master Chu, pardon my intrusion," Cheng Wei said, then knocked Chu Yan out with a swift strike.
He took out the Teleportation Talisman and, using the method taught by Xue Shengnan, transported Chu Yan away from the carriage.
Night fell.
The wind outside was biting cold.
Nanli had been going through ancient books for a while and then took out the Spirit Pearl to examine it closely.
Since she had refined the spiritual energy into the pearl, the cracks had been repaired significantly.
With only a little spiritual energy left, Nanli was satisfied with the pearl’s current condition.
The Hairpin Elf, however, was unhappy. She had absorbed a lot of spiritual energy, but now Nanli used most of it.
She clung to the last bit of spiritual energy, unwilling to let go.
"There’s so little spiritual energy, it’s of no great use to you," Nanli said.
The Hairpin Elf, insulted, did not get angry but instead cried, "It’s only because my master has not yet ascended. Whatever happens to my master, I, as a subordinate, must accept."
Nanli rolled her eyes, "Yes, it’s my fault. You should find a more powerful master to forge you into a top-tier treasure, so your ambitious spirit isn’t wasted."
She gestured to absorb the spiritual energy from the Golden Hairpin.
"Master!" the Hairpin Elf shouted, quickly floating over to protect the Golden Hairpin. "We must face hardships together today to enjoy prosperity together tomorrow. I firmly believe you will turn me into the most formidable treasure, shocking everyone in the Immortal Sect. With me in your hand, commanding the world, who would dare disobey?"
Nanli examined her seriously, then shook her head gently, "A half-finished product can’t become the most powerful treasure in the world."
The Hairpin Elf circled around and continued flattering, "Others may not be able to, but under your hands, I surely will. Master, I have faith in you!"
If one is weak, they should find a good harbor; success will follow!
