The Abusive Novel System Pleads with Me to Resign-Chapter 84
The chaos today left everyone too shocked to pay attention to Shen Ying.
Even when she played with her phone in class, no teacher called her out.
So she ended up playing mahjong all afternoon—and lost all the original owner’s assets in the process.
By the time Shen Ying left school, her steps were unsteady.
Why was this? Across four worlds, from her original home to now, her terrible luck with cards stubbornly followed her.
At least the original owner’s bus card still had balance, or else this gambling addict would’ve had to walk home today.
Shen Ying spoke meekly to the system: “System, look at my assets—”
The system’s voice was full of glee: Sorry, Host. Because the assets you accumulated in the previous two worlds were excessively large, the processing time has increased again.
Until the assets are unfrozen, please resolve your financial issues independently and take responsibility for your impulsive spending.
Shen Ying: “How was I supposed to know my luck would be this bad from the start? Even betting two bucks made me lose thousands.”
“I suspect the mahjong system’s algorithm is rigged—my money got swindled. I want to file a complaint.”
The system mocked: Host, please refrain from blaming the game operator for your own lack of skill. The system has recorded every win, loss, and multiplier. The algorithm is flawless.
Furthermore, I traced the users you played against this afternoon and accessed their camera permissions. Among them were a twelve-year-old elementary student and a stay-at-home mom who let her three-year-old draw and discard tiles for her.
Even against opponents like these, you didn’t win a single round.
Shen Ying weakly replied: “System, you don’t understand. Those people were all blessed with incredible luck. Only I was left fighting the world alone.”
Then, shamelessly, she added: “How about this? I’m not asking for all my assets to be unfrozen at once, but you can’t just watch me die of thirst while melting an iceberg. At least give me a cup of water.”
“Unfreeze, say, 100,000 or 80,000 to tide me over for a few days. That much should only take minutes to process, right?”
The system coldly responded: Apologies, Host. As you said, this game’s rules are rigid. The asset legalization process is a one-time transfer and cannot accommodate flexible adjustments like you suggested.
Shen Ying sighed dejectedly. This was even worse than the poverty she endured at the start of the first world.
After decades of seamless wealth, she really wasn’t used to this.
While bickering with the system, she arrived at her stop and got off the bus.
Her adoptive parents ran a street food stall. Since it was after-school rush hour, they were probably busy near some school.
Though Shen Ying’s tuition and fees were fully waived, and she even received a living stipend, her expenses were still significant.
Group outings, club activities, and the hobbies her parents encouraged her to pursue all cost money.
Her adoptive parents were immensely proud that she could attend her current school. The pressure kept them working from dawn to dusk, but just mentioning their daughter made them stand taller, filled with energy.
Because of this, Shen Ying felt a pang of guilt over losing thousands today.
For once, she cooked dinner and waited for her parents in front of the TV.
When Shen’s parents returned, they saw Shen Ying packing food into a lunchbox.
Shen Ying: “The school food hasn’t been to my taste lately. I’ll bring my own lunch.”
Shen’s mother immediately protested: “How could it not suit your taste? Your school has chefs from every cuisine, all hired at high salaries.”
“Stop being picky. None of your classmates bring their own food. And what kind of lunchbox is this?”
“You bought this back in elementary school for just over ten bucks. It’s all scratched up—you really want to embarrass yourself in front of your classmates?”
Shen Ying didn’t care, but her mother snatched the box away, dumped the food back out, and tossed the empty container into the sink.
Shen’s mother: “If you need more lunch money, just tell me. Don’t make trouble.”
Shen’s father, washing his hands, asked: “Out of money?”
His arms, tanned from working under the scorching sun, showed a stark contrast between the sun-darkened forearms and the pale upper arms hidden by sleeves.
Shen Ying couldn’t bear to take more. She quickly stopped him: “No, I still have money.”
By the next day, Shen Ying had to figure out how to escape her financial crisis.
Making money wasn’t hard. She didn’t even care about school, but deviating from her current life would probably send her parents into shock.
They worked tirelessly, pinning all their hopes on their daughter. For now, she’d spare their fragile hearts.
After a night of simmering, the school had finally processed the fact that Shen Ying had beaten up Zhong Chen. Their shock and hesitation had solidified into unified resentment.
Now, they despised her even more for daring to defy their leader—exposing their own incompetence.
From last night onward, they’d prepared countless plans to torment Shen Ying today.
The moment she stepped into the classroom, she sensed the faux indifference around her. Everyone pretended to ignore her, yet all attention was fixed on her.
When she opened her personal locker at the back of the room, a bloody, plump dead rat lay inside.
Sharp laughter erupted behind her: “Shen Ying, even if your family can’t afford the school’s expensive meals, you don’t have to pack a dead rat for lunch.”
“If you’re really starving, just ask your classmates. We’d spare you some scraps so you don’t have to resort to this.” freewёbnoνel.com
Shen Ying turned to see Shen Zuola and her clique of girls.
Shrugging, Shen Ying pulled the dead rat from the locker.
As she moved to leave, two boys blocked the door.
They were from the school basketball team, playing as centers, so their height and build surpassed their peers.
Standing shoulder-to-shoulder, they sealed the exit.
Behind her, Shen Zuola sneered: “Still planning to cause trouble for Zhong Chen?”
“Let’s make this clear—you’re not leaving this room unless you eat that rat in front of everyone.”
Shen Zuola smirked: “Then try getting past them.”
The two boys crossed their arms, their biceps thicker than most girls’ thighs. There was no way Shen Ying could force her way through.
As long as they kept her isolated, her so-called retaliation would be a joke.
Just as Shen Zuola was about to mock Shen Ying’s fleeting moment of defiance—
Shen Ying pointed at one of the boys, a buzz-cut guy, and said to the other, the square-faced one: “He’s planning to drug and assault your sister this weekend.”
Square-face stiffened: “What?”
He instinctively glanced at Buzz-cut, catching his panicked expression before he could school it.
Buzz-cut lunged at Shen Ying, face red: “The hell are you saying? You asking for a beating?”
Shen Ying feigned innocence: “You’ve got a purchase record for XX effervescent tablets in your phone, don’t you?”
Then, to Square-face: “Just ask your sister if she agreed to meet him.”
The buzzcut guy had only asked the girl out under the pretense of tutoring, and of course, she didn’t keep it a secret. One phone call later, and the truth was out.
The square-faced guy glared at him furiously. "I treated you like a brother, and you’re trying to mess with my sister?"
Buzzcut naturally denied it. "I was just curious. Who says buying something means I’d use it on your sister? I’m not into her—I see her as my own sister too."
Shen Ying smirked. "Really? Weren’t you still bitter about your butt getting burned to a crisp?"
"And didn’t you resent your so-called ‘best friend’ for egging you on to play with fireworks using your backside? Hating him doesn’t mean you can’t take it out on his sister."
"You’re still holding a grudge over that? It wasn’t just me who encouraged you!"
"Yeah, but you were the one acting all high and mighty, calling me your ‘best bro’ while staying out of trouble. Just looking at you makes me sick."
The two mountains of men immediately started brawling, completely forgetting their responsibilities.
Their massive builds meant the fight had a wide radius, clearing a large space near the doorway as everyone scrambled to avoid them.
Shen Ying nimbly dodged the chaos and was about to leave when a few girls blocked her path.
"I told you, you’re not stepping out of this classroom," Shen Zuola declared.
Shen Ying nodded. "Fair point. It wouldn’t be very dignified to go like this."
Her eyes landed on one of the girls—a straight-banged girl whose desk held a high-end pink leather gift box. The girl kept fiddling with a new bracelet on her wrist, a romantic heart-shaped diamond piece that was clearly a gift from a lover.
Shen Ying asked, "Mind giving me that gift box?"
The girl scoffed at her shabby appearance. "Sure. Eat the lunch that’s meant for you, and it’s yours."
Shen Ying sighed. "That’s a tough one. How about this—you give me the box, and I’ll tell you which one of these three slept with your boyfriend."
The straight-banged girl’s face twisted. "Bullshit! My boyfriend would never look at them!"
The other three girls instantly darkened at the insult.
One of them, a single-lidded girl, sneered, "What kind of loser even is your boyfriend?"
Before Shen Zuola could scold them, Shen Ying chuckled. "True, you might not even like him that much. You just couldn’t resist taking a bite out of your bestie’s plate."
"A woman’s curiosity—I get it."
The straight-banged girl lunged, grabbing the other’s hair. "So it’s true? You seduced my fiancé?!"
The single-lidded girl wasn’t backing down. "You’re the one always bragging about how much he loves you!"
"I just wanted to see how deep that love really went."
"I’ll kill you!"
Shen Ying blinked. "Huh? Why are you the one admitting it? I was actually talking about—"
Even an idiot could read between the lines—the remaining girl and Shen Zuola were also tangled up in this messy affair.
The straight-banged girl lost it completely, and even Shen Zuola’s scolding fell on deaf ears.
"Who do you think you are, acting all high and mighty? You think Zhong Chen would ever look at you with that bald-chicken gene from your dad?"
Shen Zuola’s eyes burned red with rage. "You’re dead."
She immediately rallied her usual pack of simps to gang up on the straight-banged girl, but other girls who’d long resented Shen Zuola’s attitude sided with the "victim," turning the classroom into a battleground.
Anyone who tried to break it up got dragged into the fight, and soon, the entire Class C was in chaos. Those who stayed out of it—usually the quiet bystanders—sat frozen in their seats, not daring to move.
Shen Ying slipped through the mess and swiped the gift box from the straight-banged girl’s desk. "Consider this my payment."
The girl was too busy clawing at her rival to care.
With nimble dodges, Shen Ying soon escaped the warzone and headed straight for Class A.
She walked right up to Zhong Chen, ignoring the stunned looks from everyone else. Many in Class A had been part of the plan to keep the "pauper" locked in her classroom.
No one expected her to slip past dozens of people and waltz into Class A before the first period even ended.
Zhong Chen’s gaze darkened as he watched her approach.
"What now? Another sneak attack?" He smirked coldly. "Yesterday was a fluke. Try laying a finger on me today."
But instead of the arrogance from before, Shen Ying wore an expression of remorse.
Her voice trembled pitifully. "I’m sorry. Yesterday was my fault. After the teacher’s guidance and my parents’ advice, I’ve realized how wrong I was."
"I’ve been blessed with the education Zhong Corp provided, yet I showed you no respect. I failed my school, my parents, and Zhong Corp’s generosity."
"I regret it. Deeply. I spent all night preparing this apology gift for you. Can you forgive me?"
Her sudden surrender left Zhong Chen feeling like he’d stepped into empty air.
He knew exactly why she was groveling—the school must’ve pressured her parents behind the scenes.
Part of him found it boring, while another part seethed at the school’s interference.
He’d spent all night plotting how to break her, only to realize she wasn’t as unshakable as she seemed.
Disappointed, he lazily drawled, "Oh? You spent all night on this? Must be something special."
Shen Ying shrank under his mocking tone.
He took the box and flipped it open, ready to ridicule whatever cheap trinket she’d scraped together—
Only to lock eyes with a dead, glassy-eyed rat.
"Fck!" Zhong Chen shot to his feet, flinging the box away on instinct.
When he looked back at Shen Ying, her expression had shifted entirely.
"Protein-packed lunch. You’re welcome!"
He lunged for her, but she kicked a desk between them and strolled out the front door like she owned the place.
As Zhong Chen moved to chase her down, Xiao Yun lazily called out, "Let it go. If you can’t even catch a girl, you’ve got no pride left to chase her with."
Gong Zhaoxi added, "Look on the bright side—she spent more time with that rat than you did. That’s an 800-to-1000 loss for her."
Xing Jiale picked up the dead rodent, clicking his tongue. "These guys really need new material."
Zhong Chen snarled, "You bastards—"
The three quickly "comforted" him, though their half-hearted smirks only made him angrier.
Their stance was simple—Zhong Chen had always been the most domineering of the four, bulldozing through anyone who opposed him. Over time, they’d learned to pick their battles, but years of suppressed resentment had piled up.
Now that he was finally getting a taste of humiliation, they were more than happy to sit back and enjoy the show—as long as it didn’t backfire on them.
By the time Shen Ying returned to Class C, the teacher had already restored order.
The two tall guys and the group of girls led by Shen Zuola were not at their seats—it seemed they had been summoned to the principal's office. After all, a full-class brawl was no small matter.
Those six were the main instigators and participants from Class C, easily provoked by Shen Ying into escalating the situation to the school authorities. The rest of the class was left in disarray, unsure whether to intervene or not.
And so, Shen Ying enjoyed another peaceful morning.
Honestly, after less than two days here, she felt like her inner self had regressed into something more childish.
Growing up under strict family discipline and a demanding academic schedule, she had never stepped out of line—until she decided to let it all go.
Her adolescence had been textbook-perfect, a model of obedience and grace in the eyes of her family and teachers.
Truthfully, she had always wanted to misbehave back then, but she restrained herself. If not for that incident, she might have lived her entire life with that pristine, dignified facade.
Now, it was as if she had been thrown back into the restless, regret-filled years of her youth, as if to make up for what she had missed.
But her immediate priority was solving her short-term lunch problem.
Shen Ying entered the cafeteria, scanning the room until she spotted her target. She walked straight over.
"Mind if I sit here?"
The girl across from her had an adorable face—the very reason Shen Ying had become a target in the first place.
The original host had ended up in this mess because she had tried to protect her.
