The 9th Class Swordmaster: Blade of Truth-Chapter 475: The Tenth God (2)
“How dare you...! You think you can kill us?”
Miliana’s sudden appearance undoubtedly startled the four gods. However, they quickly regained their composure.
“Your lord may fight us gods as an equal, but now you mortals dare look down on us as well? He wields the Dimension Spiral, but you are mere humans!!”
“Even though we are not gods of battle, there is no way we’d fall to a few humans!”
“You will regret your ignorance.”
Each of the gods of balance shouted their warnings, their hostility directed at the ten, or rather, nine Godslayers.
“Serga.”
“Yes.”
“Bind their movements. Make sure they don’t escape and cause any trouble for Karyl.”
“Understood.”
Miliana, her body covered in scales, revealed sharp fangs whenever she spoke. The sword handles appeared fused with her scaled arms, their blades protruding from the back of her hands like dragon claws.
At her command, Serga began chanting a spell. He was the youngest Great Sorcerer to have learned magic directly from dragons. Though he had never truly had a formal mentor, Miliana’s introduction to Toska had finally given him an absolute figure to follow.
Blessed by the Golden Dragon’s blood, Miliana stood as a being beyond ordinary comprehension.
Whoosh!
Flames flared up in Serga’s hands, and as he kept chanting, the fire spilled onto the ground, spreading like a spider’s web.
Tszzzzzzz!
As Serga swept his staff horizontally once more, a sharp light burst from the scattered flames on the ground, forming a blazing wall of fire that trapped the four gods.
“Ugh?!”
“What is this...?”
The gods recoiled, startled by the searing pain they felt upon touching the magical barrier surrounding them.
“Not bad,” Miliana nodded approvingly as she watched Serga’s simultaneous casting of fire and radiant magic.
“How could a human...?”
“Magic of multiple elements?”
The gods stared at Serga in disbelief, but the sorcerer himself remained calm and composed.
If Kaye Aesir had revolutionized magic by condensing a single element through layered spellcasting, Serga had pioneered a completely new system of multi-element magic—something no one had achieved before.
“So he really did learn draconic magic.”
“Did you see how he invoked the Radiant Flame Barrier earlier? It’s incredible enough that a human has mastered draconic magic—often referred to as colorless magic—but he casts it with minimum chanting.”
Nain Darhon and Kadin Luer clicked their tongues, gazing at Serga in awe.
“A young sorcerer we once deemed promising has now surpassed us.”
“Hmph...”
Though Nain Darhon’s expression showed reluctance to admit it, he couldn’t refute what he saw—Serga summoning Cruah’s noxious cloud above their heads while maintaining the barrier.
“The magic he uses now comes from only three dragons, but he will reach even greater heights in the future.”
“You...”
Hearing the voice from behind, both Nain and Kadin turned around.
It was none other than Darryl Harian, another young Great Sorcerer of the continent.
Kadin Luer’s eyes widened slightly at the sight of a white-furred wolf standing beside Darryl.
“Grrr...” Noticing Kadin’s gaze, the wolf bared its teeth slightly. Darryl calmly ran his hand over its head to soothe it. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
“What brings you here?”
“Hoo, so the old man cooped up in the Ivory Tower came as well. What could have compelled him to leave his sanctuary?” Nain Darhon said wryly.
At that, Kadin Luer glanced behind Darryl Harrian.
“Heh... It’s been a while,” greeted Berchi Blano, leader of the Dawn Council and master of the Ivory Tower. “And old man, really? You should have more tact with your peers. Besides, just because you look younger doesn’t mean you’re still in your prime.”
“Don’t worry about me. We Darhons experience time at a slower rate.”
“Trading insults even in the midst of this chaos. I must say, the Dawn Council and the Immortal Council are like light and shadow...” Kadin Luer muttered to Darryl Harian, shaking his head.
“Shadow? Please, our ideal is darkness, not shadow,” retorted Nain Darhon, narrowing his eyes. “I guess you’ve already gone senile, but please make an effort when talking about the Immortal Council.”
Though he seemed offended, those familiar with Nain’s temperament dismissed his outburst.
“I have a request for you all,” Darryl Harian said, stepping in as soon as their exchange ended.
“A request?”
“What’s your angle this time?”
Everyone, except for Berchi Blano, turned their attention to him.
“Despite this being a decisive war to determine humanity’s future, with a million troops assembled, our forces have suffered remarkably little damage so far. Of course, I don’t mean to trivialize the lives lost, but given the scale of this war, it’s nothing short of extraordinary.”
“And?”
“It is thanks to our lord that we are still standing here. He has deceived the gods, pitted them against each other, and even killed a few of them in our stead.”
“What exactly are you getting at?” Kadin Luer pressed.
“Take a look. Now, finally, the Ten Godslayers have begun to move—to kill gods.” Darryl pointed toward Miliana in the distance.
“The Digon Empress is undoubtedly the core of the Godslayers. She wields the rare, colorless draconic magic. Suan Hazer bears the power of the Lord of Rocks. Aidan has forged a pact with the Thunder Lord. And Serica Lauren, attuned to the water element, excels in frost magic.”
The three Great Sorcerers listened intently, their eyes scanning each Godslayer as Darryl spoke.
“Moreover, Kay Rothschild commands spirits, her power symbolizing darkness, while Hawat Tashun channels the power of Giants, representing the sun, or light. Then there’s Anchar, who, alongside the divine beast Alkar, carries the influence of Tarak. As a Druid embodying both light and darkness, she serves as a unique bridge—a conduit to the Two Powers—even though she herself is not a spirit.”
“So, you’re saying the Ten Godslayers are ultimately a union of different elemental powers?” Kadin Luer was quick to catch on.
“Exactly. The Five Great Elements and the Two Powers are the forces that make up the foundation of this world and act as nature’s blades against the gods.”
Nain Darhon frowned slightly at Darryl’s explanation.
“What you’re saying doesn’t add up. There’s no fire or wind. Karyl wouldn’t have made such an oversight when assembling the Ten Godslayers.”
“I believe that gap was intended to be filled by Serga’s magic,” Darryl suggested.
“Indeed... With his mastery of draconic magic, it’s plausible. With his multi-element magic, he could essentially wield two opposing forces at once.”
“Karyl... Did he plan all of this from the beginning?”
They looked toward the Ten Godslayers with a mix of awe and disbelief.
“Perhaps the real human resistance begins now. Our lord, wielding the Dimension Spiral, can no longer be considered human.”
“But...” Nain Darhon interjected with a skeptical look. “Can those few truly kill a god? Even if those gods don’t have an affinity for battle, they still wield Divine Power. No matter how well the Godslayers embody the forces of this world, their strength is still limited to this plane. Can they truly oppose gods, entities that stand above this mortal realm of ours?”
At that, Darryl nodded. “They will lose.”
“...What?”
“Karyl has chosen them as the elite of this continent, but even they cannot defeat the gods. After all, they remain bound by the limits of humanity.”
“So you’re saying Karyl handpicked the Godslayers for a fight they can’t win?” Nain demanded, his frustration evident.
Darryl gave a bitter smile.
“The gods they are meant to kill are not those before them.”
“What?”
“Karyl plans to kill all the gods, ascend to the Divine Throne himself, and use the Ten Godslayers to end this war.”
Crack!
Nain grabbed Darryl by the collar.
“What nonsense is this?! Are you saying Karyl plans to die by their hands?!”
“Yes.”
Darryl’s firm response left Nain momentarily speechless.
“Karyl has carried the weight of everything on his shoulders alone. Even now, as he reaches what seems to be his limit, he strives to bear more than anyone can imagine.”
“That idiot...!”
“Is that true? Then who else knows about this plan besides you?” Kadin asked.
Darryl pointed toward Miliana and the other Godslayers.
“No one has refused,” Darryl continued. “They all understand what must be done.”
Nain gritted his teeth.
“The Ten Godslayers will lose. Even if we join them, the outcome won’t change much. But...”
Darryl raised his head.
“If humanity unites...”
In the distance, hundreds of thousands of soldiers began marching forward.
“With just four gods, isn’t it worth trying?”
“You sly dog... You’ve already told the others, haven’t you?” Nain grumbled.
Darryl responded with a faint smile.
“We ought to put our lives on the line in this battle. As Karyl’s followers, now is the time to put our loyalty to the test. Please lend us your strength.”
“Don’t get ahead of yourself,” Nain snapped.
“You know Kaye Aesir’s secrets, and I admit your involvement with Pharel gives you insight into this Divine War. But that’s as far as it goes. Who are you to ask others to risk their lives?”
“...What?”
Nain turned his fiery gaze toward the gods.
“Cherish your lives. If you truly follow Karyl, then you’d understand that this is what he wants. He carries this burden alone for a reason.”
Wuuuuuuum...
“Fine. Let’s see how far my immortality can reach. If it can devour even the gods’ eternity, then my immortality will become absolute.”
Dark, corrupted energy began to seep from the ground around him, and minions rose in response.
“Now this... This is worth risking my life for.”
Nain Darhon licked his lips, his voice filled with solemn determination.
