That Time My Anime Life Got Cursed by Outer Gods-Chapter 87 - 86: Machine Species Infection
Chapter 87 - 86: Machine Species Infection
But the next second, the mechanical arm pierced the shield along with him. The immense force even knocked out his internal organs!
The crowd around them scattered instantly. They realized the difference in strength and knew they could only attack from a distance. If they got too close, the consequences would be disastrous.
Their superpowers weren't much stronger than the one before, and some were even weaker.
However, things didn't end there. A disturbing event unfolded.
The extraordinary person whose body had been pierced didn't die right away. Instead, he fell to the ground, rolling and screaming in agony as if he was enduring unimaginable pain.
The Ronin warrior immediately noticed the wound. The flesh and blood around it began to slowly metalize, taking on the same material as the mechanical monster.
"Could it be that this thing can infect others?" The thought hit him like a hammer, and his heart sank. He knew he couldn't afford to wait any longer.
Each of these creatures was hard to handle, and if more showed up, even he would be in trouble.
Without picking up his katana, he stood up from his sitting position with speed and precision.
He swung his hands forward in a sweeping motion, and light blue sword energy shot through the air, instantly killing the infected extraordinary and severing the infected area.
Seeing this, the commander quickly ordered the fire-breathing troops to burn the flesh completely. Without the support of flesh and blood, the transformation into metal halted.
"You all stand back, this thing is too dangerous. Let me handle it!"
Without waiting for anyone to respond, Yaguya Toichiro, the deputy director of the Neon Supernatural Bureau, drew his katana and swung it through the air.
The immense sword energy pushed the air apart and flew toward the mechanical monster.
With the recoil of his movement, he dashed toward the mechanical monster, leaving everyone behind.
They hurriedly scattered, knowing that the attack range of a god-level master was not something to take lightly.
The mechanical monster, sensing the incoming threat, had its eyes flash red and rushed towards the katana sword.
However, just as it began to move, it was pushed back by the surge of sword energy.
Yaguya Toichiro followed the sword energy, arriving at the monster's position. His katana came down, aiming for its head, seemingly intent on splitting the monster in half.
The gears on the mechanical monster rotated rapidly, emitting a harsh sound as it accelerated its body to dodge the strike. Its hand, now resembling a drill, aimed for Yaguya's abdomen.
After a fierce battle, the Ronin samurai let out a sigh of relief as he looked at the mechanical monster, now split into countless pieces.
Though some of the gears were still turning slowly, there were no dominant components left to pose a threat.
The monster's strength was not overwhelming for him, but its durable body and its lifeless, relentless fighting style were troublesome.
Particularly its ability to infect anyone it touched—once skin was broken, the surrounding flesh would quickly begin to assimilate.
The only way to stop this process was to sever the infected areas from the body, which made the fight more challenging.
The thought of what happened to Hattori, who was in pain as if his very soul was being torn apart from assimilation, still haunted him. Even he felt uneasy about it.
After the fighting ceased, the surrounding soldiers began to approach once again.
"Director Yaguya, he is..." the commander began, hesitating.
Yagyu Toichiro was a Ronin samurai, and also the deputy director of the Japan Supernatural Bureau, Yaguya Toichiro.
He furrowed his brows and answered, "Have the logistics department clean up the battlefield. All debris must be recovered and destroyed. Do not leave anything behind."
The commander hesitated for a moment, but just as he was about to respond, a middle-aged lieutenant general arrived at the scene. Upon seeing the scattered body parts, he let out a sigh of relief.
It was surprising that only one person had died after such an incident. This was largely due to the presence of Deputy Director Yaguya.
Thinking about the events earlier, he glanced at the metal parts scattered around and a gleam flashed in his eyes.
Just as the thought crossed his mind, Yaguya Toichiro spoke sharply: "Keep your thoughts to yourself. This thing is far too dangerous, and one wrong move could lead to catastrophic consequences."
"I will stay here and monitor the situation. You should leave now."
The lieutenant general's face darkened, and though he was ready to explode, he swallowed his words when he saw the sharp katana in Yaguya's hands.
Soon, the logistics department arrived, swiftly disposing of the severed body parts. With no flesh left to sustain the monster, the transformation ceased.
However, no one noticed the small metal gear, the size of a palm, that slipped into the ground and vanished without a trace.

Later that night
Despite his lover's plea for him to stay, Mitaka Jin insisted on returning to Sakurasou for the night.
On his way back, he replayed the criticism he had received from the editor that day. The more he thought about it, the more discouraged he became, feeling as though he was drifting further from Misaki.
Initially, he had hoped to improve his writing skills by pursuing light novels, but things had taken a turn for the worse almost immediately.
Every time he thought about Misaki staying up all night, random thoughts filled his mind.
He knew how Misaki felt about him, and he understood her character, but he couldn't stop the jealousy creeping into his thoughts.
The thought that Misaki might fall into Shiro Sakamaki's arms made him angry.
When he compared Shiro Sakamaki's looks and his ability to earn money, Mitaka couldn't help but feel discouraged and increasingly irritated.
Then, something caught his eye. He saw something on the side of the road, gleaming under the streetlight.
Curious, he took a closer look and saw a finely crafted piece of metal gear.
He crouched down to examine it and noticed that it had delicate patterns etched on it.
Although he didn't understand why someone would bother to engrave patterns on a piece of gear, it still looked rather cute.
Seeing no one around and realizing it was just a small gear, he pocketed it, thinking he'd take it home as a decoration.
But just as he held the gear, he felt a sharp pain in his hand. Before he could react, the gear vanished into thin air.
"Huh? What just happened?"
