That Time My Anime Life Got Cursed by Outer Gods-Chapter 132 - 131: What Do You Want To Eat? Dinner Or Me First?
Chapter 132: Chapter 131: What Do You Want To Eat? Dinner Or Me First?
"Kawaii!!" Yui Hirasawa’s eyes sparkled with excitement.
"Ara, I didn’t expect Shiro-kun’s sister to be this cute."
"But... why doesn’t she look anything like you?" Tainaka Ritsu tilted her head suspiciously.
Shiro could already predict where this was going. This wasn’t the first time he’d been questioned like that. With a long-suffering sigh, he calmly recited the same prepared explanation. Only after some back-and-forth did the girls finally drop it.
"Kanna-chan, do you want some cake?" asked Kotobuki Tsumugi sweetly, holding out a beautifully plated slice of strawberry shortcake.
Kanna looked up at Shiro. With his nod of approval, she stepped forward with her tiny legs, took the cake with both hands, and began to eat quietly. Her satisfaction was evident in every bite—following Shiro really had been the right decision.
Seeing everyone slacking off, Shiro raised an eyebrow. "Wait, club activities just started half an hour ago. You’re already on break?"
Tainaka Ritsu straightened up and declared with full confidence, "Practicing is just a bonus. The true soul of the Light Music Club is—afternoon tea!"
The others laughed, though some avoided eye contact.
And as expected, when Mio Akiyama approached from behind, there was an ominous silence... followed by a thump!
"Ritsu! Tone it down a bit!"
After their usual scuffle, the girls returned to their instruments. Playtime was over—for now.
Shiro, meanwhile, borrowed some textbooks from Mio and began prepping extra materials for the Nakano sisters. He held himself to a principle: If you’re going to do something, do it well.
That meant covering every critical point, but also adjusting the content to match the sisters’ varying levels of understanding. It wasn’t easy—even he found it a bit challenging—but with his sharp thinking and rapid writing speed, he managed to put together a full unit of study material just before dismissal.
A little rushed, but still on time.
---
Night fell, and Shiro returned to the apartment with Kanna in tow.
As soon as he opened the door, a rich aroma wafted through the air. From the kitchen emerged Misaki, wearing an apron and holding a spatula like a proud chef.
"Hehe~ Welcome back, junior! So, what will it be—dinner first, or a bath?"
Her voice turned teasingly sultry at the end, but Shiro didn’t even flinch. He shot her a smirk and fired back without missing a beat.
"Shouldn’t the real question be—’me or dinner first’?"
He looked at her with playful intensity, eyes gleaming. For a moment, Misaki faltered.
"...Wanna play games tonight?" she blurted out, completely changing the subject. Not exactly smooth.
Shiro chuckled and dropped his study materials onto the table. "No can do. I’ve got tutoring duty tonight."
"Aww, and leave me all alone? How cruel."
Shiro shrugged. "Hey, I took the job. Can’t bail on them. And besides, you’ve got Kanna, don’t you?"
Before Misaki could argue, the smell of burning filled the air. Her expression changed in an instant.
"My thick egg roll!!"
Moments later, the three of them sat around the table with a lovingly-prepared dinner—plus one thick egg-yaki with a suspiciously charred side and a faint bitter smell.
Misaki smiled a bit too brightly and pushed the plate toward Shiro.
"Junior, you’ve been working so hard. Eat some egg, okay?"
Shiro looked at the blackened edge with zero enthusiasm. His expression said everything: This is not fit for human consumption.
"How about this one?" Misaki winked. "It’s thick and soft, but if you bite too hard, something hot might ooze out~"
Shiro wordlessly picked up a green onion from the table and tapped her forehead with it.
Whap.
"Drama queen," he said flatly. "Eat your own egg. I’ve got stuff to do later."
Misaki pouted, clearly disappointed by his unshaken calm. "Junior, you’re no fun. I tried to get a reaction out of you!"
Shiro rolled his eyes. With Misaki, reacting was always a trap. If he stayed silent, he was "boring." If he reacted, he was "perverted." Either way, she’d find a way to twist it.
Kanna, meanwhile, devoured her meal with military discipline and zero commentary. Misaki had made enough food to save some for later, but against all odds, the duo of Shiro and Kanna cleaned the plates.
"Thanks for the meal," Shiro said, standing up. "I’ll leave the dishes to you, Senpai."
"Wow, just ditching me with cleanup? So heartless..."
"Oh, and Kanna will help you, right?"
"Yes!" Kanna jumped up and clenched her fists like a brave little soldier. "I’ll help protect the nest too! Go with peace of mind, Shiro!"
Shiro raised an eyebrow but didn’t say anything. Between the air-headed senpai and the overly serious dragon girl, sometimes the only winning move was... walking away.
He picked up his materials, glanced at the clock, and headed out into the night.
