Tech Dominator Starts with Raising Kids-Chapter 151: Ah! Bun!
Mo Jingchun looked at Zhou Yaling, who was already daydreaming about her routine at work and preparing to earn some pocket money, and said bluntly:
"Don’t get too excited too soon. The front desk job isn’t that easy. The most basic requirement is the ability to read people."
"You have to say the right things to the right people. Sometimes, there are visitors to the company that even your brother wouldn’t want to offend."
"In front of uncle and auntie, I’m giving you fair warning. If you don’t do your job well and don’t learn properly from the front desk sister, I will scold you."
"Don’t be fooled by my usual calm demeanor. You know me; when I’m angry, no one can stop me."
Zhou Yaling, pulled out of her daydream by Mo Jingchun, pouted but didn’t talk back.
The reason was simple: Mo Jingchun was speaking the plain truth.
In Zhou Yaling’s memory from childhood till now, Mo Jingchun had been angry only a handful of times, but each time was especially frightening.
The most memorable time was when grandma passed away. Just because Mo Jingchun didn’t cry, a distant uncle, who was drunk, scolded Mo Jingchun.
That time, Mo Jingchun was like a cat with its fur standing on end, almost getting into a fight with that uncle if not for others holding him back.
Mind you, Mo Jingchun was already fifteen years old at the time and mature enough to understand things.
It was just that the uncle’s words were too infuriating.
The next day, after that uncle sobered up, feeling ashamed under the scrutiny of the neighbors, he left with a face full of embarrassment.
Since then, whenever they met, there was a lot of tension between them. Though it never came to blows, there was never a friendly look exchanged.
"You should listen to what your brother says, you hear?" Auntie, seeing her daughter silent, hurriedly spoke up.
"Oh, mom, it’s not like I don’t know."
Even though she knew it herself, hearing it from her mom made Zhou Yaling feel a bit uncomfortable.
Even a bit resentful.
Auntie said with a smile to Mo Jingchun, "Xiaochun, you know Lingling’s temper. She’s a bit naive, but she’s not dumb."
Mo Jingchun stifled a laugh, nodded, and said, "Auntie, don’t worry."
The little one, full and satisfied, disliked the constant chatter and pulled Zhou Yaling’s hand, taking her to play.
"Sister, let’s go watch TV together."
"Peppa Pig is really fun to watch."
Whether Peppa Pig was fun or not, Zhou Yaling didn’t know, but she did know that Candy really wanted to watch Peppa Pig.
Coincidentally, Zhou Yaling didn’t want to stay there either. If she stayed, her mom might ask her to wash the dishes.
"Let’s go, sister will take Candy to watch TV."
Zhou Yaling took Candy and made a swift escape.
Early the next morning, just as dawn was breaking, before Mo Jingchun got up, he heard uncle riding away on his motorcycle somewhere unknown.
Awakened by the sound of the motorcycle, Mo Jingchun instinctively felt the area next to him, only to find it empty.
Startled, Mo Jingchun sat up suddenly.
In the next moment, he sighed and rubbed his head.
How did this happen? Fell asleep forgetting that Candy didn’t sleep with him last night.
The little one had run off to sleep with Zhou Yaling.
Seeing that it wasn’t fully light outside, Mo Jingchun covered himself with the quilt and went back to sleep.
Anyway, he was at uncle’s house, and waking up late wouldn’t matter. Besides, knowing Zhou Yaling’s sleeping habits, she wouldn’t be up before ten.
As for breakfast, Mo Jingchun wasn’t very hungry. After all, auntie’s cooking, emm, is hard to describe.
At nine-thirty in the morning, when Mo Jingchun came downstairs, only auntie and grandpa were there. Uncle, who had left early, wasn’t back yet.
Mo Jingchun squeezed toothpaste while asking grandpa.
"Grandpa, where’s uncle?"
"Your uncle went to the job site. He needed to tell the homeowners he’s not working anymore."
"He hasn’t come back yet at this time, probably because the homeowners invited him to stay for lunch."
"Oh." Mo Jingchun nodded.
"Are you hungry? There’s some porridge cooked by auntie in the rice cooker. No stir-fried dishes though. The leftovers from last night are still there."
"Got it, grandpa."
Inside the house, auntie was busy cleaning up, and Mo Jingchun had no idea what exactly she was tidying up. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Seeing auntie so busy, Mo Jingchun felt a bit relieved that auntie didn’t raise pigs, or else she might be reluctant to part with a well-fed one.
After washing up and brushing his teeth, Mo Jingchun took a bowl of porridge and sat on the bench in the corridor, happily sipping the porridge.
Just then, his phone in his pocket started vibrating incessantly.
With a chopstick in his mouth, Mo Jingchun freed a hand to grab the phone.
Seeing a call from Li Wanning pop up, Mo Jingchun raised an eyebrow.
Could it be something happened at the office? It shouldn’t be. If something had happened, Xu Pengfei would have called right away.
On this, Mo Jingchun had no doubt.
"Hey, didn’t I tell you to take a break today? Why are you calling me?"
On the other end, Li Wanning, looking worriedly at Bun who lay in the corner refusing to eat, spoke anxiously to Mo Jingchun:
"Boss, when are you coming back?"
"What’s up?" Mo Jingchun furrowed his brows even more.
"Bun... after I took him back to my apartment, he stopped eating and drinking, and now he’s just lying in the corner not moving."
"Dead?"
"Huh?! N... no!"
"He’s still alive. It’s just that Bun hasn’t been eating his cat food at all."
With a furrowed brow, Mo Jingchun said to Li Wanning over the phone, "Hang up and video call me on WeChat, let me take a look."
"Alright, alright."
Soon enough, Li Wanning called again on WeChat video.
Mo Jingchun looked at Bun, lying in the corner, listless and even with a sunken belly, and shouted, "Bun."
In the apartment, Li Wanning pointed the phone right at Bun’s face.
Hearing Mo Jingchun’s voice, Bun immediately opened his eyes, reaching out his paw towards the phone.
"Meow meow meow~"
"What’s with the howling?"
"I heard some fat cat is going on a hunger strike? Could it be you, Bun?"
Just then, Candy, hair disheveled, tiptoed and peeked over to look.
Seeing Bun in the video, Candy exclaimed excitedly, "Bun!"
"Did you miss Guoguo~"
"Huh? Bun, why does your tummy look empty?"
On the other end of the call, Li Wanning looked on in astonishment as Bun, who just refused to eat her cat food moments ago, now shoved her whole head into the bowl, eating the cat food as if she were a pig at home.
"Li Wanning, I’ll be back this afternoon. Even though Bun’s lazy and doesn’t usually wander off, you still need to keep an eye on her."
"Otherwise, some fat cat might just end up as a stray cat."
"Meow meow meow~"
"No one said you were going anywhere, what’s with the noise?"
