Taming The Hidden Bigshot By Kissing Him-Chapter 43 - Let Her Manipulate
Chapter 43: Chapter 43 Let Her Manipulate
Evening.
Qiao Xi got off work and was waiting for the bus, when the “beep-beep” of a horn sounded, and an understated Porsche stopped in front of her, its window rolling down to reveal Xu Xiuyuan’s impassive face.
“Get in, I’ll give you a ride on my way home,” he said indifferently.
“Director Xu, I appreciate your kindness, but I’ll take the bus,” Qiao Xi declined tactfully.
Huo Sijiao had said that the two families were on bad terms.
She didn’t want to get involved with the Xu Family more than necessary.
...
“I have official business to discuss with you. Get in, we’ll talk,” Xu Xiuyuan’s voice was crisp, as if certain she would get into the car.
Qiao Xi bit her lip, hesitated for a moment, then opened the door and sat in the back seat.
“Director Xu, what is the matter?”
“Dr. Yan has submitted your application for full employment. After our discussion, we decided to grant you an exceptional promotion,” Xu Xiuyuan pressed the accelerator and took off, his driving stable.
“Thank you,” Qiao Xi couldn’t help her excitement; this meant she was one step closer to obtaining her medical practice certificate and opening her own clinic.
“You deserve it; you’ve performed exceptionally well.” Xu Xiuyuan had never seen Yan Shi’an admire a young doctor so much, even praising her foundation in acupuncture as far superior to his own.
Xu Xiuyuan didn’t take it seriously, as he didn’t believe a girl fresh out of school could be that capable unless she came from a family with a profound heritage of knowledge accumulated from a young age.
But clearly, Qiao Xi’s family wasn’t like that.
“Thank you for saving my grandmother today; she’s finally willing to let the caretaker look after her.” Xu Xiuyuan glanced at her in the rearview mirror, his lingering conscience prompting him to speak, “If you need help in the future, you can contact me anytime.”
“Alright.”
Throughout the ride, Xu Xiuyuan didn’t speak again. It seemed it was indeed just a convenient lift, and the car stopped at the door of the Huo Family’s small villa.
Qiao Xi thanked him and went inside.
“Sister-in-law is back!”
Huo Sijiao was holding a party popper, which went “bang” and showered colorful ribbons onto Qiao Xi.
“Surprise! Sister-in-law, today is my brother’s birthday! We all came!”
“Qiao Xi, are you tired from work? Come over and sit,” Du Juan beckoned.
The dining table was already set with a large cake; Du Juan and Huo Jiancheng were sitting on one side, while Huo Xingzhou sat in his wheelchair, smiling at her. Qiao Xi covered the pocket of her sweater with her hand.
“Sister-in-law, come sit quickly!”
Huo Sijiao pulled her to sit next to Huo Xingzhou; Aunt Qian smilingly presented one dish after another, ending with a bowl of fragrant longevity noodles.
“All dishes are served!”
“Aunt Qian, you sit down too. Don’t fuss. It’s just us family members today, celebrating Xingzhou’s birthday,” Du Juan pulled Aunt Qian to sit aside.
Their second branch of the family used to hold big birthday bashes; this year was the simplest one.
Huo Xingzhou had a narrow escape from death, and they had no other extravagant desires.
“Brother, make a wish first!” Huo Sijiao was like the atmosphere coordinator, arranging the proceedings.
Huo Xingzhou’s lips curled up slightly, indulging her suggestion. He turned his head to look at Qiao Xi, making a wish to the gods above for her.
He picked up the cake knife, cut the first piece of cake, and placed it in front of Qiao Xi.
Huo Sijiao teased: “You two really do have a great relationship.”
Qiao Xi’s eyes sparkled as she took the cake.
“On such a good day, we ought to drink some wine,” Du Juan suggested, “We must have a few glasses.”
“Madam, I’ll get it.”
Aunt Qian hurriedly stood up, bringing two bottles of red wine, pouring it for everyone, even urging Huo Xingzhou to drink a glass.
Clink!
“Cheers!”
“Here’s to brother’s speedy recovery for his legs and to a sweet and blissful marriage!”
Huo Sijiao got so tipsy towards the end that she accidentally splashed some soup on Huo Xingzhou.
The dinner lasted past midnight. Aunt Qian instructed Old Chen to send them back and she cleaned up the mess.
Qiao Xi wheeled Huo Xingzhou’s wheelchair into the master bedroom.
Her cheeks were flushed pink, “Mr. Huo, this time… I’m not drunk.”
Just a little bit dizzy.
She took out a small gift box from the pocket of her top and handed it to him with both hands, “Happy birthday, Mr. Huo.”
Huo Xingzhou, whose eyes were usually as calm as an ancient well, showed ripples of emotion, “For me?”
“Yes! I bought it especially for you. I thought it suited you as soon as I saw it.”
Her eyes sparkled, and a delicate flush appeared on her face.
Huo Xingzhou accepted it, and upon opening it, he found a pair of sapphire cufflinks with diamonds. Among all the fine things he had seen, they weren’t particularly outstanding.
But for Qiao Xi, it must have cost quite a bit of money.
The sentiment was priceless.
“I really like it,” Huo Xingzhou said in a deep voice.
A splendid smile bloomed on Qiao Xi’s face, “I’m glad you like it. Let me help you wash up.” When she drank, her speech always carried an endearing tone, like she was cooing.
“Okay.”
Huo Xingzhou let her fuss over him.
He knew she was sober, better than the last time. But he didn’t know what the usually shy Qiao Xi would do at a time like this, as a moderate amount of alcohol could liberate one’s true nature.
Qiao Xi led him to the spacious bathroom, squeezed some toothpaste for him, and twisted a towel.
As Huo Xingzhou meticulously cleaned himself, he thought it was good that tomorrow was the weekend and she didn’t have to go to work.
“Wipe.”
She took the towel and wiped the toothpaste foam from the corners of his mouth.
Warm water filled the bathtub, and as Qiao Xi bent over to unbutton his shirt, Huo Xingzhou suddenly grabbed her wrist, his throat bobbing.
“That’s enough.”
If she went any further, he might take advantage of the situation.

“Not yet,” Qiao Xi shook her head, stubbornly trying to pull open his shirt.
Huo Xingzhou gripped her waist and lifted her to sit on the sink. Her exposed pale ankle was caught in his hand.
“Stop moving,” he said hoarsely, his fingers tracing up from her ankle, slipping under the hem of her floral dress and caressing the smooth skin of her calf.
The stimulation from the alcohol, the dopamine release, and the steam from the hot bathroom water, made Qiao Xi’s heartbeat race and her breathing difficult.
She felt she too needed CPR and artificial respiration.
“Mr. Huo, I saved Mrs. Liu at the hospital today by performing CPR on her,” she said with a look that sought praise, endearingly.
“Our Little Divine Doctor is truly capable,” Huo Xingzhou praised as she wished, his fingers lingering.
She laughed naively, bending forward.
He was sitting in the wheelchair, and she was sitting on the sink. At such a height, all she needed to do was lean slightly to kiss his lips.
“Mr. Huo, I… have difficulty breathing.”
The hint from the medical student was clumsy and adorable.
After she said those words, her rose-colored lips landed on his cool, thin lips, drawing oxygen from his mouth.
Huo Xingzhou’s fingers involuntarily tightened, the patterns of his fingertips grazing her tender skin. He tilted his head, taking control.
Qiao Xi trembled with the kisses, her hands bracing herself on either side of the sink.
Her white, delicate fingers clenched tightly, straightening out, the strange impulse within her body making her timid and confused.
Finally.
She was left with tears in her eyes and weak arms and legs from being bullied.
“Mr. Huo, artificial respiration isn’t done like this,” she corrected seriously.
“So, the Little Divine Doctor didn’t want to satisfy a craving?” he asked leisurely, watching her with dark eyes, “I thought you were craving.”
