Chapter 154: What did you do

Darius reached the House Chains in no time.

"What’s happening here?" he asked.

At the front of the door stood the members of House Chains, and standing between them and the door were Darius’s men that didn’t allow them in.

Darius frowned. Why were they trying to go into the House when they left it the first time?

The one with the glasses, Julius Crane, turned and bowed. "Head Instructor Darius. He said that it’s your orders that we shouldn’t go in?"

Darius narrowed his eyes and his eyes flickered to the other person beside Julius, Ethan Aldrich. Those were families he didn’t dare treat lightly.

Especially the Crane family that were closest to the Emperor. Even though their son was trash, he was still a Crane.

Darius smiled. "It is indeed me. Your House Chains is under investigation and I’m here just to ask some questions from your House leader."

’..this brat...did he call them all here to use as his protection? Too bad then, I’ll just knock out the important people and kill the rest..’

Julius adjusted his glasses and looked thoughtful. "Under investigation? Then let’s go in and see our Leader then."

Darius shrugged and gestured.

His men bowed and left.

One of the House members went to the door, put his hand on it, and it swung open easily.

"By the way, what are you doing here by this time of the night?" Darius asked. It was like two hours past midnight and all of them looked as if they hadn’t slept at all.

Julius was the one that answered as they walked down the hallway and towards underground where the House main rooms were. "The House leader has decided that we would be spending the holiday together. We are going on a special training."

Darius raised his brow, but he didn’t say anything more. Holiday together? Special training? That Severin must be looking for ways to get out of the Academy!

But one thing bothered Darius as they entered the big room that the House used for training. Why didn’t Severin just make the Lito come and rescue him in the Academy? Wouldn’t that be much easier?

’..I really have to stop underestimating him..he’s weak but he knows how to use situations to work for himself...turning tide in ways that are unpredictable...I must be weary of him...’

Severin was sitting at the front of the long table with Instructor Ardent at the other.

Darius paused.

The other House members walked around him and sat down in their own seats, their faces unreadable.

Severin raised his head to look at Darius Faulkner and his frown deepened.

Darius clenched his teeth gently as he stared at Severin Reignhart.

How? How was it possible that he was standing there when he should have been the one in the carriage with the mask? What the hell was going on?

The Head Instructor glared, he couldn’t help it. How did he pull it off to fool his senses?

Severin Reignhart raised his brows as he stood and swept into a graceful bow. "Head Instructor Darius Faulkner. To what do we owe the pleasure of meeting you so dark outside?"

It was a statement and a question that made the man scowl. Darius Faulkner narrowed his eyes. "You think this is a joking matter? Severin Reignhart, you are charged with the death of Head Librarian Teresa."

Severin raised his brows and there wasn’t a bit of surprise or shock on his face. "Is that so. But how’s that possible? I’ve been here the whole time, making arrangements for the holiday, and Instructor Ardent has been here with me as well.

"Besides, didn’t Commander Vaelith send news of the Head Librarian’s death to all the students? And the cause of death. The Scar."

Darius stiffened. He didn’t know that the Commander had done that already. But he already pulled the bow and readied the arrow. The only thing to do was to aim.

Besides, he absolutely must get Severin Reignhart. So it’s only about how and not if. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

He could knock down everyone in the room within a single breath. The problem was Instructor Ardent. No matter what, inasmuch as Severin remained beside him, there was no way he would be able to take him without a clash.

Fortunately, he had prepared for that as well and his men would soon rush in to snatch Severin when he fights Ardent.

"Then there’s nothing I can do, Severin," Darius’s voice turned cold and a malicious aura surrounded him. "You will have to come with me!"

Severin nodded. "Finally showing your true colors, eh, Head Instructor. Do you really think you can take me from my own House?"

At that moment something bothered Darius. He narrowed his eye as he understood what was happening. All of them were too calm. It was as if they expected what he was doing and that made him twitch.

What exactly was going on?

Why was Severin so calm?

No matter what, Darius decided to continue. By now his subordinates should have removed all the security around the House. They wouldn’t even be able to send a message outside.

"I will take you," Darius said. His eye wasn’t even on Severin anymore, it was on Ardent. Anytime now and my team should rush in.

Anytime now.

Now?

Darius twitched because he didn’t hear or feel anything rushing down toward him. What was happening? Shouldn’t his subordinates be getting down there so they could complete the task?

The subordinates would snatch Severin while Darius kept Ardent busy. It was straightforward and easy. It should be, but now his subordinates were not showing.

Darius Faulkner twitched and then he noticed the smirk on Severin’s mouth and he stiffened. "What did you do?"

Severin shrugged. "Oh...nothing. I’ve been writing applications since yesterday. The best application of my life to get me and my team into a good place for the holiday!"

Black sparks flew out and covered Darius. "What did you do!"

Boom!

Suddenly they heard the sound of an explosion that made the ground tremble faintly, and it came from outside.

And then silence.
