Talentless Extra Of The Legendary Hero Academy-Chapter 143: Ambush
Chapter 143: Ambush
Doldo that was god into himself? Even if he is fallen, he still has his divinity, but he’s only a Grandmaster?
Severin didn’t understand. "You don’t know what comes after Grandmaster, but you must have heard rumors, stories. Tell me."
She looked at him with worried eyes. "Eh... well. There are indeed some rumors. Some believe that those in the rank above Grandmasters are very powerful people in the world. Like those at the center of government and such."
Severin didn’t move his sword from her. "Tell me, what’s your relationship with Darius Faulkner?"
She stiffened as she heard the name. She muttered to herself and shook her head. "Darius Faulkner."
"We are both Masters but from different Grandmasters and he also has a higher position in the Academy. We don’t talk much, we each respect our boundaries."
Severin frowned. He couldn’t help but think that she was weak compared to Darius Faulkner. And they were both Masters. "What about your mission? Tell me about your missions."
She looked up at him. "You are my mission. I am to transport the seed to the Sector Delta. And since you are already the seed and all...."
"So how does it relate to Darius Faulkner?" Severin asked.
"The mission, my mission is a mission between two Grandmasters, so they sent me and Darius Faulkner here to carry it out. Of course, it’s not that simple since the organization isn’t one head with multiple body parts.
"You should understand that the Organization, Obsidian Bleed, is just a gathering for like-minded people. We don’t have a single goal but we can borrow each other’s strengths."
Severin raised his brows. "Is that so. That seems oddly familiar. Tell me, is one of the Grandmasters the leader of Scar?"
She stiffened again and he chuckled. "So my guess is right. This sure is complicated. Alright, you’ve tried. But there’s still one more question remaining to secure your life."
"What’s that?"
"Tell everything you know about me. Severin Reignhart. And tell me the truth about it now!"
She pressed more tightly against the wall as the tendrils from the sword curled in the air around her. She looked at them fearfully. "Eh... Severin Reignhart? Well, you are chosen to...!!"
The tendrils cut more sharply at the air around her and she froze. "Don’t tell me about that bullshit. You guys are not stupid, I’m not as well. There’s a reason you chose Severin Reignhart. There is something that made it happen. Tell me!"
She looked up at him and then she pressed her head more tightly on the ground. "I don’t know. I don’t know! I’ve already told you all that I know! Leave me alone!"
Severin’s expression darkened behind his mask. The sword he was holding seemed to glow a little more brightly. He raised it and brought it down sharply in front of him. One of the tendrils shot forward and sliced her hand cleanly from the elbow.
He hissed. "Tell me!"
She stared at her hand in surprise and then her face widened. Severin saw the pain register on her face, the confusion and surprise that she could be feeling that much pain. And then it hit her and she opened her mouth to scream.
Severin froze and time seemed to slow down a bit. His head spun and he thought of different things at once. Should he kill her before she starts screaming? Should he get close and use his sword to jam her mouth shut?
In the end, he didn’t have to make a decision.
It was made for him.
Bang! Crunch!
The night air suddenly brightened, lit up with a flash as three bolts of shining arrows shot into the room through the wall that exploded.
Severin jumped back and one of the arrows followed him. His sword cut forward at the arrow while he twisted his body to the side to avoid it because he wasn’t sure if his sword could hold it.
He was right.
With a loud screech and sparks, the arrow narrowly moved to the side, grinding against the sword and still shot at him. But with his body already twisted, the arrow hit the ground and exploded.
Severin was hurled back and sharp stones hit him like rain.
"I was told a rat would be here and see... I was right!" a voice said. The voice was low and carefree as if he was talking to a friend.
Severin straightened quickly. The dust was settling and he finally saw who it was. His mouth behind the mask opened in surprise. "You!"
"Huh? You know me? I don’t know you, bird face. Ah, bird face! I like shooting birds out of the air, you know. You won’t be that difficult to shoot down."
Severin was still staring at the person in surprise. It really isn’t easy to catch him off guard but then, a lot of surprises that weren’t boldly written in the book were happening at an astonishing rate and all he could do was try not to be carried away with it.
It was as if the plot of the book was unraveling.
He took a deep breath and gathered his wit. "You’ve killed her. Teresa."
The person shrugged. "Of course. Safety precautions, you know. This mission is too important for her to be babbling like that. I knew it. Her Grandmaster shouldn’t have sent her here. She’s too weak."
"You know her Grandmaster?" Severin asked.
"Of course not. You think it’s easy to meet Grandmasters? You really don’t know anything, do you? Is that why you are here? Open your mask!"
Severin smiled beneath his mask as he muttered softly. "Open my mask? It seems you are still new to all of this. If I don’t kill you now, then you’ll fall later."
The person snorted. "Darius Faulkner told me that it should be you, Severin Reignhart, but I don’t think so. It must be one of your members. Because no one has left the House Chains building since.
"Wait. It might be you here and one of your members back in the place."
Severin tapped his mask. "Close."
Jade Callahan lifted his arrow. "Not that it matters. I’ll shoot either down anyway."
