Talentless Extra Of The Legendary Hero Academy-Chapter 127: Ta da
Chapter 127: Ta da
"Come here, shadow Lord. I know you are there."
The spear he used to pierce the man was gone, and shadow Lord dragged himself forward, one of his legs wounded. His brows were furrowed as he stared at Severin. "You are indeed a sly bastard. You put your name in the story you told me. A story of a weapon you can control. So, you’ve been trying to betray Anansi since you met him?"
"Was it not the same for you?"
"No. My shadow is mostly independent from me most of the time. I left it inside Anansi and he just goes around collecting stories with his memories intact. I didn’t even know it met you for a long time. I would have killed and dragged your body over," shadow Lord said easily.
Severin frowned at him. His calm expression had since been worn away, his face was pulled together as if he was in pain. But his eyes, the blue, were slowly turning red. "Then I’m glad something like that did not happen."
They stood there in silence for a while. They looked at each other.
Severin shook his head. "You won’t be able to kill me, shadow Lord. I am now more powerful than you. Let it go."
Shadow Lord smirked. "You think I won’t notice that you are using your body to shield something? Tell me, Severin. What happens when my shadow returns to its natural form? Do you lose this power you are using? After all, it was a power conjured by the shadow Anansi."
Shadow Lord shook his head gently. "This was why Anansi was feared back in the days. He was the true ruler of the whole of Sector Delta. His power, the ability to conjure powers greater than himself with little cost.
"If he hadn’t been so greedy and eaten all the stories in the world, then he would have ruled for more hundred years."
Severin smiled, forcing his face to move in a smile that looked like a grimace. "Shadow Lord... just how much are you wounded that you need to talk this much to recover?"
Shadow Lord’s mouth, that was already opened, slammed shut with a click and he sneered. "That rod on my shadow is disturbing me! I can’t recall my shadow. Just what did you do, Severin?"
"The power of Grace is to bind and suppress. You can’t call your shadow unless I want you to."
Shadow Lord barked a laugh. His eyes were swollen from his tears and his malnourished body shook. "If you do not give up the seed, then it will consume you and you will only turn into a creature that feeds on pain without a mind of its own."
Severin abruptly raised his hand and hurled several bolts of green shadows at the shadow Lord, but the man was still nimble enough to dodge around them easily.
He stared at Severin. "You want to catch me off guard?"
Severin smiled slowly. "You know, in stories, this is the part where you are allowed to speak about the grand plans you have and the past things you have done to release more secrets."
A green energy of Grace formed into a chair and Severin sat. "I want to know more about The Obsidian Bleed. What is their objective? What are they doing in the human world?"
Shadow Lord stared at him silently for a while, and then he shrugged. "Pain. They’ve since gotten the seed from its protectors a long time ago. What they did with the organization was use it to farm pain."
"Farm pain?" Severin asked flatly.
"Despair. Pain. Anguish. The organization was responsible for farming it and then feeds it to the seed to awaken and enrich it."
Severin stiffened. With the flashback he had earlier, he knew how the so-called organization farmed such. His smile was grim. "Why do they need to awaken it?"
"After it was taken from Dolor, the power couldn’t be destroyed. It could only be left alone to die by itself. And it was slowly weakened through the years it was locked away, and it was taken by the Obsidian Bleed. The pain they farm is just like water to a dying plant."
Severin’s eyes sparked. His smile chilled. "Ah! I wonder, just how powerful is your organization? It doesn’t seem like a simple organization."
The shadow Lord shrugged. There was a hint of pride on his face. "I don’t know. They were all so loyal....!"
Suddenly, the shadow Lord frowned tightly. He stared at Severin intently and then he hissed. "You bastard fox! So you are also buying time! You weren’t as strong as you let on earlier. You were just bluffing!"
"I was giving you time to recover. I wouldn’t want to stomp on who’s already down, right?"
Shadow Lord snorted as a dangerous gleam entered his eyes. "I don’t know what happened, but you are weakened. Everything since was just so you could buy time! Since the time you shot those spears at me was to create the illusion of you toying with me."
Severin grimaced. "Ta da?"
Indeed. Since the memories exploded in his head, Severin had been fighting mentally. The seed was trying to devour him.
His body had been filled with pain, both physically and mentally. It was as if every inch of his body was getting replaced by the sensation of pain.
His face slowly crumbled as he stared at shadow Lord, to be replaced by a face filled with so much pain and dejection. "I... don’t have to pretend anymore then."
His face was sad, twisted with so much unhappiness and sorrow. He lifted his head and looked at shadow Lord. "What a terrible thing this seed is. Why do you want something like this? The pain. It’s so much. SO FUCKING MUCH!"
His voice blasted out like a bomb. The ground in front of him shattered, and all the buildings close by were struck by the shockwave and trembled, glass shattering.
Shadow Lord took a step back. "This... no... he’s consuming the seed! Impossible! The seed could only be consumed by someone who has enough pain to match it. So... how?"
