System Mission: Seduce the Final Boss [BL]-Chapter 55: Phew, got the date set
At the very least, the rest of the day went quite smoothly, so the two of them couldn’t exactly complain.
"Gosh, I’m tired."
They had gone around shops, played games at the arcade, even gone to a playground to get on the swing...
It was fun.
He certainly felt a little bad, since the sole reason he approached Anthony was to make him Myles’ friend.
’I am going to tell him, just... uh, not now...’
Not like Blake was ready for the possible backlash.
Especially around this time, he felt a little lost. A friend was truly a fresh breath of air.
Anthony was also especially interesting. He was impressively smart and soft-spoken. From someone like him, Blake could only learn.
’Although he needs to hold his ground a little bit more strongly.’
As he threw himself on the bed, Blake turned on the TV.
The shows in this world were too difficult to understand. It had different histories and religions he couldn’t fully grasp.
He was trying to understand as much as he could, but it was so much to take in, especially since he was so busy doing... whatever this whole thing was.
Socially speaking, this world wasn’t in a very different place, though.
’There are still many issues. But oh well, what can one expect from humanity.’
Still, it was way more futuristic, and not in a glaringly obvious way.
It was just the way everything looked.
From streets to buildings, to how advanced devices were.
Everything was really clean.
The air was clear.
There were no issues like global warming or any animal extinctions.
’Yeah, imagine if I also had to deal with that, no way.’
Blake stretched, letting out a quiet groan as his back arched slightly.
His muscles felt heavy in that satisfying way, like he had actually used his body for once instead of just drifting through the day.
"Man..."
He rolled onto his side, pulling the blanket halfway over himself.
Sleeping was the plan.
A simple, easy, completely normal plan.
And yet, as always, his mind didn’t cooperate since it kept drifting back and forth somewhere he both expected and didn’t want.
Myles.
Blake frowned, eyes still closed.
’Seriously...?’
He shifted, pressing his face deeper into the pillow as if that alone could smother the thoughts.
It didn’t.
If anything, they became clearer and more persistent.
’Why can’t I just sleep like a normal person...?’
It wasn’t even just thinking.
That would have been manageable.
Annoying, sure, but manageable.
No, it was worse than that.
He thought of Myles so much before sleeping that he literally slipped into his dreams.
And it’s not like they were peaceful dreams, either.
And then he’d wake up feeling weird and restless.
Blake groaned softly, dragging a hand down his face.
"This is so stupid..."
He turned onto his back, staring up at the ceiling now.
The room was dim, the light from the TV flickering faintly across the walls.
His thoughts kept looping.
Myles’ eyes.
Myles’ voice.
Myles just... being there.
’It’s not even a big deal...’
But it was, apparently, since his brain refused to let it go.
Blake exhaled sharply.
"Seriously, what is wrong with me..."
And then, he froze, eyes widening slightly.
Right.
Right!
He had promised something to Myles.
The amusement park.
"...Oh."
Blake sat up abruptly, the blanket slipping off him.
"Wait a damn minute."
Now, that was why his mind kept bringing him in.
He grabbed his phone from the bedside table, the screen lighting up instantly.
"...Crap."
It was already halfway through spring break. Not many days had passed, but they were enough to make it feel like time was slipping faster than he had expected.
’There’s not that much left...’
Blake scratched the back of his head, staring at the screen.
He couldn’t just forget about it, since had said promised it.
’He probably remembers, too, so let’s just text him...’
That alone was enough to make him feel slightly uneasy.
Blake hesitated for a moment, thumb hovering over the screen.
Then, he typed a simple message.
Heyyy Myles
For the date, when are you free?
He stared at it for a second.
Then hit send.
"...Alright."
Now, he waited.
Blake tossed the phone onto the bed beside him, falling back again.
’He won’t reply immediately...’
At least, that’s what he told himself, so he tried to relax, trying to let his mind drift somewhere else.
It didn’t really work because...
Buzz.
He turned his head slowly.
The phone lit up beside him.
"That was fast."
He grabbed it quickly, unlocking it almost immediately.
Monday.
He was free on Monday.
"...That soon?"
Blake muttered under his breath.
Not that it was a bad thing, just a little nexpected.
He stared at the message for a second longer.
Then, he sat up again, opening his browser.
"Alright, let’s see..."
Amusement parks.
There were a lot, way more than he expected.
’Seriously? This many?’
He scrolled.
And scrolled.
And scrolled.
Different sizes.
Different themes.
Different prices.
Some looked ridiculously expensive.
Others looked questionable.
"Yeah, no thanks."
Blake wrinkled his nose slightly.
He wasn’t about to pick something that looked like it might fall apart mid-ride.
That would be a terrible idea.
He kept going carefully.
Actually reading and comparing.
Eventually, he found one. It wasn’t the biggest or the flashiest, but it looked good.
It had a reasonable pricing, decent reviews and plenty of attractions.
"Yeah... this works."
Blake nodded to himself.
Good enough.
More than good enough.
He clicked through the booking page, fingers moving quickly now.
Two tickets.
"Alright..."
He paused for just a second before confirming.
Then, it was done.
Blake leaned back slightly, exhaling.
"That was easier than I thought..."
He picked up his phone again, opening the chat.
Just got the tickets
Let’s meet in the morning
Although I won’t promise to be punctual lol
How about around 9:40 a.m.
It’s a reasonable time!
It wasn’t too early or too late.
He stared at the message briefly.
Then sent it.
And once again, he didn’t have to wait long.
Alright.
Blake stared at the screen for a moment longer than necessary.
’...Okay.’
He locked the phone, setting it down beside him again.
Then, he let out a long, heavy sigh.
His body sank back into the bed.
The tension he hadn’t even fully noticed seemed to ease, just a little.
"It’s settled, then..."
Monday at an amusement park with Myles.
Blake lifted an arm, resting it over his eyes.
Blocking out the faint light.
His thoughts, once again, began to drift.
But this time, they felt different.
Still restless and active, but not as tangled or frustrating.
Just, a little lighter.
"I wonder how the weather’s gonna be..."
He muttered quietly.
Spring comes early in this world.
Way earlier than what he was used to in the previous one.
It was only January 15th.
And yet, it really felt like spring.
The air.
The light.
Even the atmosphere.
Everything had shifted.
’Weird...’
Blake let out another soft sigh.
"Hope it’s not too hot..."
Or too cold.
Or raining.
That would definitely ruin things.
He frowned slightly at the thought.
Then shook his head.
"No point worrying about it now..."
It was out of his hands.
Whatever happened, happened.
Blake adjusted slightly, pulling the blanket back over himself.
His body sank into the mattress again.
His breathing slowed, evening out.
And his thoughts, gradually, began to quiet.
He let the darkness take him.
