System Breaker: Surviving Apocalypse with Nine-Tailed Kitsune-Chapter 7: Undead Colossus

[You have reached Level 8. You have received 1 Stat Point.]
Damon watched the blood drip from the blade of his weapon before shaking it off. Not more than ten minutes after dealing with the first two evolved undead humans, they were met with five more.
But with the use of the Nameless Tachi, he made quick work of their enemies, killing four before Ivy was done with a single one.
After taking a quick look around and confirming there were no more monsters nearby, he summoned his status screen, wanting to check his progress.

Damon nodded with satisfaction, looking at his strength stat. With the relic equipped, it was at 27 points. Though he didn’t really have to look at the number on his status screen to know how high it was. He felt it. Strength surged through his muscles, unlike anything he felt before.
He could now cut through the evolved undead humans with less than half his strength, it was like a hot knife through butter. He felt almost no resistance against his blade.
His dexterity, however, was a different story. He could tell his coordination was beginning to fall behind, each movement felt so explosive that it was sometimes a little hard to control.
’Then there is mana...’ he thought.
If he could raise it high enough, he would be able to sense the presence of nearby monsters. It would definitely increase his overall chances of survival.
’Mana can wait,’ he decided, ’For the time being, Kitsune can just tell me when there are monsters nearby.’
"My, my..." Kitsune’s voice purred in his head, "Needing my help again?"
’If you’re not gonna help me fight, you could at least tell me when you sense enemies,’ Damon replied just as he added the only available stat point into dexterity.
"We should keep moving," Ivy suddenly said, cutting his conversation with the Kitsune short.
Damon nodded. "Right."
The single-family home neighbourhoods began to turn into old, crumbling apartment buildings. They had already been barely standing before, and now, after the monsters came, most of them had collapsed.
More and more black smoke clung to the sky the closer to the city they got. Some apartments still burned, after whatever it was that happened. The scenery on the ground didn’t change much. Toppled cars, streets stained red and flesh scattered all around them. Damon couldn’t help but frown as the thick smell of metal mixed with rot filled his nose.
’And there I thought my area couldn’t get any worse,’
"Careful," Kitsune’s voice was different this time. Her usual playful tone was replaced by a sudden seriousness. "There’s a strong presence nearby."
Damon frowned, slowing his walk as his head whipped around to look for any enemies.
"What is it?" Ivy asked.
"There’s a strong monster nearby"
Ivy’s head whipped around, but after seeing that there was nobody there, she frowned slightly.
"Are you sure?"
"Kitsune felt it. It’s nearby."
Ivy let out a frustrated sigh before continuing to march forward. "I need to find my family. I don’t have time to-"
She didn’t have time to finish the sentence as the road beneath her exploded.
Damon barely moved in time to pull the girl out of the way, broken asphalt and dirt falling all around them.
When the debris and dust settled, they saw it.
An enormous creature, standing at least five meters tall. It had a dozen legs, each of which looked to be made of mangled human limbs, crooked and twisted in horrifying angles. Its torso was the size of at least four humans, and its two arms were made from something resembling half-human legs, half-human arms, creating an image so vile it made Damon’s blood run cold.
It paused only for a heartbeat before its half dozen legs kicked off the ground all at once.
The street shattered beneath the weight as the monstrosity charged at them, closing the distance with terrifying speed.
"Stay back! Support me from behind!" Damon shouted toward Ivy, who didn’t waste a moment before dashing to safety.
He barely had time to evade the monster’s initial charge, throwing himself into a long roll to avoid getting hit by the monster’s attack.
’Its fast!’
Flames already roared to life as Ivy sent a wave of fire straight at the gigantic enemy.
At the same time, Damon dashed toward the monster from the side, the blade of his tachi whistling through the air before making contact.
Black liquid sprayed from the wound as Damon’s attack severed one of the monster’s dozen legs. Its balance, however, didn’t waver. The monster turned toward Damon at an unnatural speed. Half of its torso was already scorched from Ivy’s attack, but the monster was completely unfazed by the damage, moving as if it didn’t feel pain at all.
Damon sidestepped just in time, concrete exploding from where he stood a moment ago.
’That’s two in half an hour,’ Damon noted, remembering that Ivy’s limit was around three within a thirty-minute period.
He gritted his teeth as he circled around the enemy, trying to find an opening as the monster’s arms thrashed around with mindless fury.
Suddenly, the second wave of fire came at the monster. This time, it didn’t aim at the creature’s body but at the head instead.
It thrashed even more widely as its vision got covered by flames.
Damon took the chance to dash back in. He leapt at the monster from behind and thrust his blade deep into its back before dragging it down and splitting its back in half.
With his blade still stuck in the monster’s lower back, Damon fell off as the enormous abomination thrashed around. Blood spilled all across the ground, creating a gigantic pool of black liquid that covered the street’s entire width and almost twice as much of its length.
Its dozen legs stomped the ground hard, sending blood and debris into the air as it turned toward Damon. Its dark crimson eyes locked onto him for a moment before their light wavered as the monster fell to the ground with a heavy thud.
