Chapter 348: Chapter 348: Bitterness

Moira Young’s lips curled into a bitter smile, as she slowly turned her head and quickly opened her eyes.

Facing her clear eyes, a fleeting hint of panic flashed in Julian Sinclair’s eyes, but just as quickly, he regained his calm.

He calmly shook off Moira Young’s hand, his expression unreadable.

Moira Young watched Julian Sinclair’s series of actions, her eyes suddenly reddened, and she choked out, "Why? If you don’t want me anymore, why bother coming to see me? Julian Sinclair, what exactly do you want to do?"

Looking at Moira Young’s tear-reddened eyes, Julian Sinclair’s heart felt like it was being sliced with a knife, yet his face remained as cold as ever: "I don’t understand what you’re talking about."

"Wasn’t it you who came to see me at night before?" Moira Young paused, then laughed self-deprecatingly, "Of course, why would you come to see me? You’re going to marry Fiona Rhodes, why would you want to see me?"

"Good that you understand." Julian Sinclair looked at Moira Young without a trace of emotion and glanced at her indifferently without speaking further.

But his reaction brought Moira Young to the brink of collapse, she looked at him puzzled and with pleading eyes: "Uncle, why? Why have things come to this between us? Why did you leave me without a word? Didn’t you say... you said you would always be by my side?"

Faced with Moira Young’s questioning, Julian Sinclair’s expression didn’t change, his handsome face was devoid of emotion, and his words were like cold frost: "I also said not to trust anyone, including me."

Moira Young’s eyes were moist, she stared blankly at Julian Sinclair, murmuring: "Uncle... please stop playing games, okay? It’s really not fun at all, let’s go home, shall we? Let’s go home now."

Julian Sinclair was silent, his silence made Moira Young panic.

Moira Young realized she truly had lost Julian Sinclair. For a while, she felt soulless, tears streaming down uncontrollably, her emotions beginning to spiral out of control.

"Why did you deceive me? Julian Sinclair? Why did you deceive me?"

She didn’t understand and didn’t want to understand.

Before going abroad, they were so close, yet in just a few days, Julian Sinclair seemed to have completely changed, treating her with extreme coldness?

This isn’t real!

Suddenly, as if she realized something, Moira Young tightly grabbed Julian Sinclair’s sleeve, asking excitedly: "Uncle, are you facing some difficulties? Tell me, please tell me, let’s face them together, shall we? Please don’t be like this... Uncle, I’m scared..."

Julian Sinclair allowed Moira Young to hold onto his arm, looking at her sobbing and unable to speak, he really wanted to lean down and hold her in his arms, to tell her the truth about everything, but unfortunately he couldn’t, he couldn’t be so impulsive, otherwise everything he had done would be for naught.

Thinking of this, Julian Sinclair reached out and pulled Moira Young’s hand from his arm, his expression indifferent: "I don’t have any difficulties, and no one can trouble me."

Julian Sinclair looked down at Moira Young’s face, uttering heartless words like they cost nothing, one after another: "Moira Young, face reality, I’ve only ever played with you. I’m sorry to have told you those things, but given your status, wanting to be the Sinclair family’s young madam is indeed unqualified. I only found you somewhat interesting and kept you as a pet for a few years, did you actually take it seriously?"

His words were like a thunderbolt striking Moira Young’s heart, causing her pain so intense it was nearly suffocating.

Tears flowed uncontrollably like tap water, her lips trembled as she stared intently at Julian Sinclair, trying to find traces of a lie on his face.

But unfortunately, there were none, his face was cold from start to finish, not even bothering to spare her an extra glance.

What he said was true.

Realizing this, Moira Young suddenly sank down, falling heavily back onto the hospital bed.

It turned out that what she thought was Julian Sinclair’s affection was merely idle play with a pet. What she thought was Julian Sinclair’s love for her turned out to be nothing more than her own wishful thinking.

Moira Young sat in bed, her emotions growing more uncontrollable, she didn’t know where the strength came from, but she suddenly got up and forcefully pushed Julian Sinclair, yelling at him hysterically: "Leave! Julian Sinclair! Get out! I don’t want to see you! Just go! I never want to see you again! Go!"

Faced with Moira Young’s hysteria, Julian Sinclair remained calm as ever, furrowing his brow slightly, speaking coldly: "Recover and return home, so you won’t be an eyesore here."

As he finished speaking, accompanied by the sound of the door closing gently, he cut off Moira Young’s last bit of hope.

She stared blankly at Julian Sinclair’s unhesitating actions, tears silently flowing down.

It’s over, everything is over, her feelings are over...

Julian Sinclair left the hospital room, after just a few steps, he saw Adrian Grant waiting at the corner.

Adrian Grant stood leaning against the wall, holding a still lit cigarette. He looked at Julian Sinclair with a complex expression, perhaps wanting to persuade him, but ultimately merely sighed softly: "Aren’t you afraid she’ll hate you for doing this?"

Julian Sinclair paused briefly, then pointed to another corner, indicating Adrian Grant to speak there.

Adrian Grant pursed his lips and followed his steps.

The two stood on the hospital balcony, Adrian Grant hesitated for a long time before voicing the question in his heart: "I don’t understand why you’re doing this, is it to protect Moira? But there’s no need, right? Moira has been obedient to you since childhood, if you just say it, she’ll surely understand your difficulties, so why go through this?"

Julian Sinclair looked up at the pitch-black night sky, silent for a while before speaking slowly: "It may not be that simple, telling her carries too much risk, I don’t dare take the gamble. Anyway, just please take care of her, once everything is resolved, I’ll apologize to her."

"What if she doesn’t accept it?" Adrian Grant pressed on.

"Then it will prove that we truly have no fate together." Julian Sinclair said quietly, his eyes dimming.

Seeing him like this, Adrian Grant couldn’t say anything further, he could only let him be.

The final consequences would only be for him to bear.

Watching Julian Sinclair’s departing figure, Adrian Grant furrowed his brows deeply, thinking again of Moira Young’s current mental state, which made him even more worried.

Julian Sinclair truly was something, leaving him to clean up all the messes. Young Moira is already in such a state and he still finds it necessary to stir things up further.

He could almost envision Moira Young’s eyes hollowed out like a living corpse at this moment.

After finishing the last puff of his cigarette, Adrian Grant forcefully extinguished the butt, then walked into the hospital room with heavy steps.

He initially thought he would see Moira Young on the brink of death, already planning how to comfort her, but unexpectedly, she was unusually quiet.

"Moira..."

"Adrian, I’m tired, I want to sleep now."
