Chapter 344: Chapter 344: Show of Force

Adrian Grant couldn’t quite meet Moira Young’s eyes, awkwardly changing the subject: "Do you feel a bit better? If not, maybe you should see a doctor?"

Perhaps women have a keen sixth sense. Especially when Moira saw Adrian’s evasive demeanor, she immediately sensed something was off.

So Moira stared straight at Adrian, bringing the topic back: "Adrian, what’s going on? Do you have any news about Uncle? Tell me quickly!"

Adrian still tried to hide it, forcing a smile as he explained, "It’s nothing, I’m just a little tired. Moira, there is still no news about Julian. Once I have any news, I will definitely..."

"No! Adrian, you’re lying to me, aren’t you?" Moira stood up abruptly, anxiously pressing, "Adrian, tell me quickly, where is Uncle now?"

Adrian pursed his lips without speaking. Moira looked at his silence and instantly understood. Her face grew paler, her eyes began to redden, and the next moment, hot tears spilled over.

Seeing Moira cry, Adrian panicked, stumbling over his words to console her, "Moira, don’t overthink it. There’s nothing wrong. Don’t frighten yourself, everything’s fine..."

Moira, crying, murmured as if possessed, "I need to find Uncle, I need to find Uncle..."

Adrian, though soft-hearted, understood above all that Moira couldn’t know about Julian Sinclair’s current state. Even though he sensed he might not be able to hide it for long and that Moira would find out sooner or later, it couldn’t be now.

Therefore, Adrian had no choice but to steel himself, firmly blocking Moira, his tone turning harsh, "Moira, calm down, please. Just don’t go out now, I’ll let you know as soon as there’s any information. Trust me, alright?"

Moira, with tear-filled eyes, could only nod in agreement. Though she conceded, the atmosphere between them was tense. Adrian was well aware that Moira had likely guessed something, but he acted as if clueless, thinking that hiding it as long as possible was the only option left.

That night, Adrian went out again. However, the two didn’t live together, so Moira was unaware.

That night, Moira couldn’t sleep. Her mind was repeatedly replaying Adrian’s uncomfortable expression. She was certain he knew something.

Could it be that Uncle truly is with Fiona Rhodes?

Was day finally breaking? Moira rubbed her tired eyes, sore from lack of sleep, feeling an indescribable bitterness.

With fatigue weighing on her, she went to knock on Adrian’s door but received no response; it seemed he had gone out.

Moira closed her eyes, assuming Adrian had gone to find Julian Sinclair, so she returned to her room and stayed in.

Just as she sat down, the doorbell rang. Thinking Adrian had returned, she hurried to open the door.

However, the familiar face outside made Moira roll her eyes in disgust; she attempted to close the door silently.

Seeing her actions, Fiona’s face turned white with anger, she sneered, "Moira Young, it’s been a while, and you’re as repulsive as ever."

Moira, somewhat irked, glared at her, "What are you doing here?"

Fiona smiled smugly, raising her eyebrows at Moira, "I’ve come to admire your miserable state after failing."

After she spoke, Fiona, as if afraid Moira wouldn’t understand, kindly explained, "I’m already set to get engaged to Julian..."

"What are you saying?" Moira interrupted before Fiona could finish, "What engagement? Uncle is getting engaged to you? That’s impossible! Uncle doesn’t even like you! You’re lying to me! I won’t believe it!"

Moira’s words that Uncle didn’t like her hit Fiona’s sore spot, and she got agitated, "His feelings don’t concern you! Just remember, Julian Sinclair is getting engaged to me! We are going to be together soon, that’s all you need to know!"

Moira blocked out whatever Fiona said next, repeatedly insisting, "I don’t believe you, stop lying to me! Uncle won’t get engaged to you..."

"Shut up! Why can’t you just accept it?" Fiona pushed Moira roughly, her expression sour, "I came here out of kindness to tell you Julian’s whereabouts, and you still won’t believe it? Anyway, I’m getting engaged to him, believe it or not, that’s up to you. If you know what’s best, you’d return home and stop embarrassing yourself."

Having said her piece, Fiona, perhaps thinking her strike wasn’t sharp enough, added, "We’ve already been intimate. For all you know, there might already be a little baby growing inside me. Julian will marry me for sure! And you? Go back to wherever you came from!"

Taken by surprise by Fiona’s push, Moira stumbled and fell to the ground. She immediately scrambled up, determined to rush out, "I need to find Uncle and get to the bottom of this. It can’t be true! You must be deceiving me!"

Fiona snorted coldly, blocking Moira again, forcefully pushing her to the ground, her eyes filled with unabashed loathing, her tone harsh, "Save it. Julian and I have long been cooking rice into a meal. Whether you believe it or not, Moira, your beloved Uncle has already left, and your dream should be over. Wrap it up and leave!"

Moira got up from the ground, mustering all her strength to push Fiona away from the doorway, "You should be the one to leave! Uncle won’t get engaged to you! No way! Fiona Rhodes, you shameless woman. Uncle broke off the engagement with you before and won’t ever re-engage. It must be you, you must have threatened him! You..."

"Slap!" Before Moira could complete her words, Fiona slapped her across the face, coldly staring at the stunned Moira, "Shameless? Moira Young, understand this: Julian Sinclair’s original fiancée was me! Fiona Rhodes! As for you? Just a random nuisance. Did you really think you mattered?"

Moira’s cheeks flushed with anger, Fiona’s words had sent her rage soaring.

Realizing what had happened, she immediately grappled with Fiona.

Unfortunately, Moira hadn’t eaten or rested properly in days. Her strength had seriously waned, and within a minute, Fiona had her subdued.

Pinning Moira to the ground, Fiona sneered, "I thought you had some skills, but is this it? Moira Young, you really are a joke. You probably don’t even know why Uncle has been so good to you. True love? You’re dreaming!"

Fiona saw Moira struggling fiercely and used more force to hold her down. She then patted Moira’s cheek with one hand, thoroughly humiliating her, "Stop struggling, Moira Young. Whatever doesn’t belong to you will never belong to you, no matter how hard you try. Give up."
