Chapter 154: Chapter 153: Taking the House Deed

"Dad," An Hao seized the opportunity and said. "Since things have come to this and you refuse to drive the Bai Family mother and daughter away, then let me leave. Grandma has passed away, and you have the house deed and land deed in your hands. If you still feel guilty towards me, your daughter, then give them all to me."

Bai Yanjiao was stunned, and, after coming to her senses, pointed at An Hao’s nose and cursed, "An Hao, you’re even scheming against your own father! You’re just after this house, aren’t you?"

"Then why don’t you go?" An Hao glared at her. "If you’re willing to leave, even if my foot is crippled, I’ll still help you move out with gongs and drums and firecrackers to send you off."

"You!" Bai Yanjiao was choked up by her words; her mouth couldn’t keep up with An Hao’s sharp tongue, and she was always being verbally abused by her.

"Enough! Stop arguing! I’ll go get it for you! As long as An Ping has no objections."

"I have no objections. Give it to my sister!" An Ping said.

An Shuchao nodded and, with difficulty, turned around, leaning on his cane.

He was tired too. He knew what An Hao suggested was the only solution; he couldn’t balance this family, making his wife unhappy and his daughter dissatisfied.

Originally, the house and land deeds were meant for An Ping, but since An Ping had no objections, then they might as well be given to An Hao—it was all his own flesh and blood anyway.

Seeing how An Hao defended An Ping, he thought that she would eventually give it back to An Ping, without arguing with him.

He knew his daughter was worried he would foolishly give the house to Bai Yanjiao.

Since his daughter was insistent on leaving and he indeed felt guilty, he might as well give it to her.

The deeds were taken out and handed over to An Hao.

An Hao looked at them, folded nicely, and put them in her pocket. Bai Xue’s heart quietly ached at the loss, but given the current situation, she was powerless.

She could only hope that An Hao would quickly leave this home and start her own life independently.

An Hao asked for the keys as well and handed them to An Ping, asking him to go ahead and clean up a room for her; she planned to move there that evening.

She went back to her room to pack up her clothes and luggage.

When An Ping stepped outside, he saw those two men still standing at the door. Remembering what his sister had said about them saving her and carrying her back from the mountainside, An Ping felt immensely grateful.

"You two brothers haven’t left yet? Why don’t you come in and have a cup of water?" he offered.

"No need," Qin Jian waved his hand, then asked An Ping, "Your sister is okay, right?"

"She’s fine," An Ping sighed. "She’s just stubborn; as you saw earlier, she decides to move and immediately she wants to move. Now she sent me ahead to clean up."

After saying this, he left with the bunch of keys in hand.

*************

That afternoon, the newly built middle school was finally tidied up. The bureau’s staff discussed and decided to move there tomorrow. They took the day off to clean and get ready.

The staff members who had come down had been living among the villagers for a few days now. They helped the villagers carry water, sweep the yards, paid for their meals, and showed appreciation to their hosts. In turn, the villagers did their best to bring out the tastiest food in their homes to reward the people who brought electricity and light to their community.

Through these days of living together, they had built a certain bond.

With the move happening the very next day, everyone thought about what they could do to help the villagers and gathered to provide more assistance.

Qin Jian finished whatever chores he had at home and, seeing nothing else to do, picked up his clothes and prepared to head out.

"Hey, where are you going?" Li Junping had just boiled hot water and was about to make tea for everyone so they could have a break and chat. As she stepped out, she saw Qin Jian heading out.
