Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s-Chapter 1459: Catastrophe Comes So Swiftly
Chapter 1459: Chapter 1459: Catastrophe Comes So Swiftly
The two men finished their conversation and were about to turn back when they saw He Zhiyuan standing not far away.
"Division commander, regimental commander, it’s getting late. Do you think we should inspect other places?" He Zhiyuan stepped forward and asked with a smile.
"Mm, back to camp. How are the warriors eating?" Zhang Jianguo said.
"Rest assured on that point. The warriors work so hard, they surely..." He Zhiyuan hadn’t finished his sentence when he saw Qin Jian’s face suddenly change.
"Don’t talk! Don’t move!" Qin Jian shouted loudly.
"What happened?" He Zhiyuan was confused.
"Feel it..." Qin Jian said gravely.
No sooner had he spoken than the earth violently trembled, the mountain shook incessantly, and huge rocks began to roll down toward the base of the mountain.
The nearby camp was already a chaotic mess.
People’s screams, cries, and shouts of agony were mingled together, rising into the sky along with the rumbling sound of the mountain fracturing.
"Division commander, another earthquake... Run!" Qin Jian yelled, "It’s an earthquake! Get out of here, run to an open area!"
The warriors and the masses at the foot of the mountain all began running frenziedly.
The disaster came without warning, and the area that had just experienced a severe quake plunged once more into misery.
The warriors were fleeing for their lives while also helping the civilians they came across.
Zhang Jianguo had indeed grown older, and since becoming the division commander, he rarely participated in group training. Hence, his physical strength had declined. With the ground shaking violently, if he were any slower, his life would be in jeopardy.
Seeing this situation, Qin Jian was about to carry him and run when his gaze flickered toward the riverbank, where two children were crying and trying to escape.
Many villagers passed by them, but not one person was willing to lend a hand to the two unfortunate children.
"Old He, you protect the division commander and leave quickly. I’ll go save those two kids," Qin Jian said hurriedly before striding toward that location.
Zhang Jianguo had obviously seen the two children as well. He shouted at He Zhiyuan, "Don’t worry about me, go quickly... go help Qin Jian..."
A hint of hesitation flashed in He Zhiyuan’s eyes, but it was clearly caught by Zhang Jianguo.
"Go!" Zhang Jianguo yelled, "Do you really think my life is more precious than two children’s lives?"
"Yes." Once He Zhiyuan received the order, he quickly let go of Zhang Jianguo and ran toward Qin Jian’s direction.
Zhang Jianguo hurried a few steps forward, picked up an injured elderly person from the ground, and ran toward a flatter and wider area. As he ran, he shouted, "Folks, don’t panic! Please follow orders, don’t run around, move with the main group to a safe place."
After joining the main group, he handed the injured elder over to the warriors and chose to stay behind to command.
"Division commander! You need to go! Quickly evacuate this area!" Tian Niu rushed over, his progress uneven.
"No. Don’t worry about me! Regimental commander Tian, do what you must!" Zhang Jianguo barked the order.
"Yes."
...............
By the time Qin Jian reached the children, the two boys were in tears.
Seeing Qin Jian arrive, one of the boys cried out, "Uncle PLA soldier, please save my brother, his leg is trapped under a big rock."
