Sweet like Wine: Love Your Dimples Even More-Chapter 95 - 55: Just a Different Perspective_2
As a scholar, Catherine’s mother aimed to perfect her thesis as much as possible. Brunschwig Distillery became her last stop to gather historical data on peat usage before leaving Islay Island.
It was during this time that Catherine’s mother met Quinn Fairmont.
The total population of Islay Island was just a few thousand people.
Nineteen years ago, Islay Island had almost no Asian women.
Even if there were, most were tourists from Japan.
Like Quinn Fairmont and Catherine’s mother, who both came from Celestar, they were extremely rare. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Quinn Fairmont learned about Catherine’s mother’s intention of visit.
Having not seen any Celestar people in a while, Quinn Fairmont warmly guided her through the distillery and answered many of her questions about peat.
"Thank you for telling me this. I can hardly remember what my mom looked like," Sean Lowell responded with gratitude after a long silence.
"When I met your mom, she was still full of life. She was very excited about the reopening of Brunschwig Distillery and even planned with me that if the distillery restarted distillation and I was still in Scotland, we would go to try the whiskey before it went into oak barrels for aging."
"Whiskey before aging in barrels generally has a high alcohol content, so it probably won’t taste very good," Sean joined the conversation but didn’t ask questions.
He actually had many questions he’d like to ask, just didn’t know where to start.
More importantly, Sean had paid attention to the gossip Catherine shared about dining with Gordon Sterling.
Sean was somewhat uncertain if he was ready to accept the facts and whole truth concerning Quinn Fairmont.
"I also don’t know if it would taste good. I ultimately never got to taste it and have felt regret ever since. I remember your mom telling me whiskey, like Celestar’s liquor, is colorless. Whiskey’s color comes from being stored in charred oak barrels. As whiskey ages in the oak, it gradually takes on the caramel-like color from the barrel’s inner walls."
Catherine’s mother began to reminisce seriously about the details from those years.
These things she had never shared with anyone, not even Catherine, who only knew that Brunschwig Distillery was where her parents met.
Catherine had secretly returned home seeking Gordon, but it was impossible in such a situation to ask her parents for more information.
"I’ve always been a bit averse to peat. I will definitely read your thesis carefully when I have time," Sean casually stated. He had been isolated from the world for five years, embodying the image of The Jilted that fans of The Dump Me Alliance envisioned.
"Your mom, at that time, was rather unfortunate, as I could tell she found a career she loved. Just like I found materials to support my thesis. That joy was unmistakable. However, soon after, I saw news about an incident at Brunschwig Distillery in the newspaper."
Catherine’s mother looked at Sean, noticing no obvious signs of emotion or breakdown, and continued:
"After seeing the news, I went back for a visit, but the distillery was sealed off and no one was allowed in. I was young and couldn’t handle it, so I sat outside the distillery crying alone for a long time. Then journalists, who couldn’t find more news about your mom after searching for half a day, surrounded me, and Catherine’s dad rescued me."
Catherine’s mother might not even have known what she was crying about, an involuntary helplessness of being alone in a foreign country always appears unexpectedly.
"At that time, did you see my sister, Summer Lowell? She would have been about four years old then."
"No, your mom was alone when she took me to tour the distillery. I didn’t notice anyone else there. I saw no elderly and no children. The reason I wanted to go to the distillery was because I saw a little girl in the newspaper photo and wondered if she needed help..."
Catherine’s mother said this and suddenly remembered that Sean probably didn’t know about the news photo and became somewhat hesitant to speak.
"Thank you. I also saw those articles. That must have been when Summer needed help the most," Sean finally struggled to hold back his emotions.
