Surviving in the Beast World with a System-Chapter 143: Deep Pit
Don’t ask why, but his first instinct in the face of danger was always to look for his leader.
The Shun Yuan seemed a bit stunned to see so many males, but just a moment later, its excited roars rang deafeningly through the forest.
This reaction...
Wu Yue stroked her chin and thought, ’This is exactly how I feel when I dream that the entire entertainment industry has become my personal harem.’
Startled by her own theory, she had to hold up her jaw to keep it from dropping, silently encouraging it to hold on.
’This Shun Yuan really has lofty ideals and ambitions. Is this the legendary cross-species harem... ah, no... romance?’
The Beastmen seemed offended by the Shun Yuan’s gaze. One by one, they unsheathed their sharp claws, showing no intention of treating it like a female.
They rushed forward and ganged up on it.
They were impulsive, but the outcome was anything but pretty.
There was a reason the Shun Yuan held a place among the Fierce Beasts. It didn’t get there on brute strength alone; its actual power was considerable.
It seemed angered by these disobedient members of its ’harem,’ and a paw larger than a palm-leaf fan swung swiftly toward one of the Beastmen.
It moved so fast that Wu Yue only saw a blur, followed by a muffled grunt from off to her side.
That Beastman had been slammed against a large tree and was coughing up blood.
Everyone was shocked. Teng Qian, standing to the side, was stunned for a moment. "Clansmen!" he yelled. "Don’t be cowards! Think about the consequences of failure!"
He shuddered right after saying it.
As if encouraged, the still-stunned Beastmen were suddenly filled with a burning fighting spirit. With renewed battle cries, they charged the Shun Yuan once more.
It was simple: either they killed it, or it would kill them.
This was a textbook case of "better you than me." 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
The middle-aged Beastmen hiding in the distant treetops were snickering amongst themselves, on the verge of bursting out laughing.
"Damn, he really takes after his Father. Back when we came for our first hunt, the Shun Yuan took a liking to me, too."
Teng Qian’s Father added with a chuckle, and the other middle-aged Beastmen around him also began to laugh softly.
"Maybe it’s the next generation’s turn to meet, hahaha."
Wu Yue, under the tree: ...
’A meeting of the next generation?’
’So is this some kind of melodramatic love story where it’s like, "Your Father wronged me, so you must pay the price"?’
Startled by the scenario she’d just imagined, Wu Yue couldn’t help but shudder.
The fight grew more and more intense. The Beastmen were constantly being swatted away, but they got up one by one and charged back in.
"Huh?" Wu Yue looked around, confused. That guy, Yuan Lang, had vanished at some point.
’Could that guy be hiding somewhere secret just to watch the show?’
"Lure this big guy over here!"
Teng Kun’s voice sounded from behind and to the side.
Wu Yue instinctively looked toward the voice. She saw Yuan Lang and Teng Kun, covered in dust and dirt, waving frantically at the other Beastmen.
Maybe they heard him, because the Beastmen started to methodically lead the Shun Yuan toward the two of them.
The Shun Yuan’s strong, powerful body gave it formidable fighting ability, but unfortunately, the creature clearly wasn’t very bright.
It actually followed the Beastmen right toward Yuan Lang and Teng Kun.
The young Beastmen seemed to have planned this in advance. They stopped clashing head-on with the Shun Yuan and instead just harassed it periodically, almost as if they were kiting a monster in a video game.
Just as planned, when the Shun Yuan roared and leaped to attack a Beastman, it didn’t land on solid ground. Instead, it fell into a deep pit filled with sharp wooden stakes.
