Chapter 339: How Much Longer

Rain woke up at dawn, her lips curling into a soft smile as she felt Alexander’s warmth beside her. His arm was wrapped securely around her, holding her close. She glanced at their position and frowned slightly, wondering if he was uncomfortable. Carefully, she shifted, slipping away from his embrace with delicate precision.

For a moment, she stood by the bed, gazing down at him. His features were relaxed in a way she rarely saw, serene and peaceful. A tender smile tugged at her lips. It wasn’t often she got to see him like this knowing he would wake up anytime, and it warmed her heart.

Noticing she was still in her business outfit from the night before, she decided to freshen up. Quietly, she grabbed one of her nightdresses, slipped into the bathroom, and took a quick shower. After brushing her teeth and drying her hair, she tiptoed back to bed, hoping to rejoin him without waking him up.

But as she climbed back under the covers, her movements accidentally stirred him awake. Alexander opened his eyes and blinked a few times, his gaze settling on Rain. "What time is it?" he asked, his voice low as he sat up in bed.

"It’s still early," she replied softly, smiling at him. "Go back to sleep."

He rubbed the back of his neck, glancing around the room. "I should go back to my bedroom," he murmured, swinging his legs to the edge of the bed as though to leave.

Before he could stand, Rain reached out and held his wrist gently. "But this is your bedroom, Alexander. Can you stay here instead?" Her voice was calm but earnest, her gaze locked on his. "I promise I’ll behave and won’t do anything to make you uncomfortable."

His eyes flicked to hers, then trailed down to her lips and lingered briefly on the thin fabric of her nightgown. He swallowed hard, a hint of hesitation crossing his face.

Rain immediately picked up on it and smiled, trying to ease his discomfort. "Okay, fine. I’ll wear pajamas! Just stay here and go back to sleep. I’ll change, alright?"

As she moved to get up, Alexander tightened his hold on her wrist, stopping her mid-motion. "Rain..." he called softly, his tone almost unsure.

"Yes?" she murmured, her breath hitching slightly as she turned to face him again.

Biting her lower lip, Rain whispered, "I’m your wife... and I really miss you. I know you still need time to adjust, and I promise I won’t pressure you into anything. But... can we at least sleep together like this? Just cuddling?" Her voice was soft, almost pleading.

Alexander exhaled deeply, his gaze lingering on her hopeful eyes. After a moment, he nodded and muttered, "Alright. Go back to sleep."

"Thank you!" she exclaimed, her face lighting up with relief. Without hesitation, she pounced on him, her arms wrapping around him tightly.

The sudden movement caused him to lie back on the bed as she nestled against him, holding on as though afraid he might disappear.

Caught off guard, Alexander blinked, his body stiff under her embrace at first. But as her warmth seeped through, he gradually relaxed, his arms hesitantly coming up to rest around her. Rain’s soft breathing and the comfort of her closeness were almost soothing.

"Goodnight, Alexander," she murmured against his chest, her grip not loosening. freёwebnoѵel.com

He glanced down at her, her content smile tugging at something deep inside him. "Goodnight, Rain," he whispered back, his voice softer than he intended.

Alexander stared at the ceiling, unable to sleep. Rain’s intoxicating scent filled his senses, a mix of fresh soap and her natural sweetness. She had just taken a bath, and everything about her was enticing.

Her soft body pressed against his was pure torture. His self-control was stretched to its limit, especially with the knowledge that her thin nightdress left little to the imagination.

The faint outline of her hardened nipples beneath the fabric didn’t escape his notice. She probably has only her panties on, he thought, his jaw clenching as he tried to shift his focus elsewhere.

He closed his eyes tightly, willing himself to think of anything else, but her warmth and the rhythmic rise and fall of her breathing against his chest made it impossible. The ache in his body grew more unbearable with every passing second.

Alexander cursed under his breath, his frustration mounting. His hands remained stiff at his sides, resisting the overwhelming urge to pull her even closer. His body was betraying him, and he felt the heat rising to his face.

’How does she not realize what she’s doing to me?’ he thought, annoyed at both her and himself. At this rate, just cuddling won’t be enough.

Gritting his teeth, he carefully adjusted his position, trying to create even the smallest bit of space between them without waking her. But Rain stirred, snuggling closer, her arm tightening around him as though she sensed his escape attempt.

Alexander exhaled a shaky breath, silently praying for morning to come faster.

Rain wasn’t fully asleep, though her eyes remained closed as she lay nestled against Alexander. A faint smile tugged at her lips as she felt the tension radiating from his body. She knew all too well the effect her closeness had on him, and she was deliberately letting him stew in it.

Every subtle movement, her soft breaths brushing against his neck, the occasional shift of her body against his, was carefully calculated, even if she pretended otherwise. She could feel his restraint, the way his muscles tensed, his breathing uneven as he tried to hold himself together.

Rain kept her promise to behave, refusing to make the first move. But she couldn’t help the curiosity bubbling inside her. ’How long will he last?’ she wondered, suppressing the laugh threatening to escape her lips.

She could feel the heat of his frustration, and it was almost endearing to know that, despite everything, he was trying so hard to honor her words.

’This is fun,’ she thought mischievously. But beneath her teasing, there was genuine affection. She didn’t want to push him too far; she wanted to remind him of the love and intimacy they once shared, to reignite that spark naturally, on his terms.

Still, as she felt his heartbeat pounding like a drum under her cheek, her smile deepened. ’Let’s see how much longer you can hold out, my dear husband.’
