Surprise Marriage to a Billionaire-Chapter 336: Jealousy
Chapter 336: Jealousy
Hours passed, and Alexander found himself on the first-floor balcony, nursing a glass of wine as the warmth of the nearby fireplace flickered against the night. He glanced at his wristwatch for what felt like the hundredth time and sighed. It was already past nine, and Rain still hadn’t returned.
"Brother, why are you out here drinking alone?" William’s voice broke the silence as he joined him, taking a seat beside him. Sanya was close behind, cheerfully announcing, "Let me grab some snacks."
Alexander didn’t respond immediately, his thoughts still elsewhere. He watched as Sanya returned with a tray of snacks, a fresh bottle of wine, and extra glasses. She poured drinks for herself and William before sitting down.
"So, what’s keeping you out here?" William pressed. "You could’ve called me to join you."
"I couldn’t sleep," Alexander said simply, his tone flat but betraying the faintest hint of restlessness.
Sanya tilted her head, studying him. "Are you worried about Rain? She’ll be back soon, I’m sure. Did you call her?"
Alexander hesitated before answering, his gaze fixed on his glass. "No, I didn’t call her."
Sanya raised an eyebrow. "Why not? It’s not like she’d mind."
He shrugged, swirling the wine in his glass. "I wanted to, but... I didn’t want to come across as controlling."
William smirked, leaning back in his chair. "That’s rich coming from you. The Xander I know doesn’t hesitate to speak his mind, especially when it comes to something, or someone, important." freewёbnoνel.com
Alexander shot him a brief look but didn’t respond. He knew his younger brother was right, but he couldn’t shake the uncertainty.
Rain’s bold gestures, her unwavering affection... it all left him feeling a mixture of confusion and something deeper he couldn’t quite name.
"You should call her," Sanya encouraged. "If it were William, and he wasn’t back by now, I’d be blowing up his phone."
William chuckled, wrapping an arm around Sanya’s shoulder. "And I’d pick up every single time."
Alexander glanced at them, seeing the easy, loving dynamic between his brother and sister-in-law. He still struggled to grasp the full picture of how their lives had evolved in the years he couldn’t remember, but their connection was undeniable.
He sighed, setting his glass down. "Maybe I will," he said softly, more to himself than anyone else. But for now, he sat back and let the warmth of the fire and the wine ease his restless thoughts.
"You don’t have to worry," William said, trying to reassure him. "Rico’s with Rain. You assigned him as her personal driver and bodyguard, remember?"
Alexander nodded, taking some comfort in that fact. Rico would have called either him or William immediately if something had gone wrong.
But as the minutes ticked by, his restlessness only grew. Just as he was about to pick up his phone to call, Sanya’s voice broke the tension.
"Oh! That’s probably Rain!" she exclaimed, pointing towards the driveway as headlights illuminated the darkened path.
"Whose car is that?" William asked, squinting as two vehicles approached. Alexander immediately stood, his eyes narrowing as the cars came to a stop.
Rico quickly stepped out of the first car and hurried toward them. "Sir, Madam Rain is very drunk and refused to leave with me. One of her colleagues offered to help," he reported.
"Colleague?" Alexander asked sharply, his tone laced with suspicion.
"Yes. Prosecutor Henry Wayne," Rico clarified. Before Alexander could respond, the second car’s driver stepped out, heading to the passenger side.
Alexander’s jaw tightened as he saw the man, Henry Wayne, open the door and carefully lift an unconscious Rain into his arms.
Moving on instinct, Alexander strode toward him, his voice commanding. "Give her to me!"
Henry paused, visibly taken aback. "Are you sure you’re fit to carry her?" he asked, frowning slightly.
Alexander’s expression darkened, his gaze colder than the night around them. "I said, give my wife to me."
Caught in the weight of Alexander’s tone, Henry hesitated before finally stepping forward. "Here," he said, gently passing Rain into Alexander’s waiting arms.
Despite his irritation, Alexander cradled his wife with care, adjusting her weight so as not to strain himself. He turned sharply, signaling for Rico to open the mansion door.
"Thank you for your help. You can leave now," he said curtly to Henry without so much as a backward glance.
Henry opened his mouth to say something but thought better of it, nodding silently before returning to his car.
As Alexander carried Rain inside, Sanya and William exchanged glances, sensing the storm brewing beneath Alexander’s calm exterior. It was clear: Alexander was not pleased, and Henry Wayne had unknowingly stoked the embers of something fierce.
"This is so good, William!" Sanya whispered excitedly, nudging him with her elbow. "Did you see that? He’s absolutely reeking of jealousy! He might not remember her fully in his mind yet, but his heart? Oh, it definitely recognizes her. That love for her is still there, for sure!"
William chuckled softly, watching as Alexander carried Rain inside, his movements firm yet protective. "You’re probably right," he agreed. "The way he reacted just now... This Henry didn’t even stand a chance."
Sanya smirked, leaning in conspiratorially. "It’s only a matter of time before he realizes it himself. Rain has always had that effect on him. Even if his memories take time to return, his instincts won’t let him forget what she means to him."
William grinned a hint of mischief in his expression. "I almost feel bad for this Henry. He probably didn’t know he was walking into a lion’s den."
"Serves him right for carrying another man’s wife in his arms," Sanya quipped, folding her arms smugly. "I’d bet good money that Xander won’t let something like this slide."
William laughed. "Let’s just hope this jealousy of his works in Rain’s favor and pushes him to remember faster. They’ve been through enough already."
"Exactly," Sanya agreed, her smile widening. "And besides, this kind of drama is way more entertaining than anything on TV!"
