Supreme Summoner Overlord: Rise of the Endless Legion-Chapter 409: The Ignis (2)
The Shadow Sovereigns reached the monster and raised their hands to cast [Wall of Night]; black walls of solidified shadows erupted from the ground to cage the creature, while the Spectral Quadraginta charged.
The Ignis didn’t care.
It tore through the shadow walls as if they were made of paper and swept through three Spectral Knights, turning them into mana mist. A Shadow Sovereign even tried to retreat, but the Ignis closed the distance faster than it could run and stomped down to crush the summon into the dirt.

The notifications scrolled past Reidar’s vision, but he was already thinking.
<I have to kill this thing.>
Reidar was currently on Earth, not on the Ignis homeworld, where he had spent so much time fighting and surviving. Earth already had far too many dangerously powerful monsters roaming around that humanity was struggling to deal with and could barely face in direct combat, and there was even one particular monster that had surpassed level 700 in strength.
The arrival of another monster that was completely out of the normal power scale and far beyond what most survivors could handle was the worst possible thing that could happen to the state of human civilization at this point in time, although to be fair, this Ignis wasn’t at the same catastrophic level of threat as the World-Carver Behemoth was.
Reidar had to kill the Ignis; there was absolutely no other option available to him because he simply couldn’t allow a Level 601 monster to roam loose and unchecked on Earth.
It was a creature at a power level that gave it the capability to completely wipe out an entire city and brutally slaughter thousands upon thousands of survivors before anyone could even begin to notice what was going on or mount any kind of response.
There was no one else in the world who was strong enough or powerful enough to stop this monster except for him.
He checked his status.

<Level 549. The Ignis Is at Level 601. A fifty-two-level gap. Can I do this?>
In theory, he should be able to kill it, since the gap was smaller than the ones he’d faced on the Ignis homeworld; he’d killed monsters stronger than him before, even on Earth.
The Ancient Stone-Eater Behemoth itself had been Level 532 when he was barely past 400, and he’d used the environment to wear it down by trapping it in the volcanic zone, letting the heat do most of the work.
But he didn’t have a volcanic zone here. He was in a meadow in the middle of nowhere, with a handful of surviving summons and a monster that had just proven it could close the distance to him faster than he could react. However, it was true that the Ignis was alone, while he wasn’t.
The Ignis finished killing the last of the Spectral Knights and looked up at him again. Its glowing eyes tracked his position in the sky.
<It’s going to jump.>
Reidar didn’t wait to find out if he was right.
"Higher!" he ordered the Sky-Hunter. "Get me higher!"
The insect’s wings beat harder. They climbed. Forty feet. Fifty feet. Sixty feet.
Below, the Ignis launched itself into the air but didn’t reach him. The creature’s jump fell short by maybe ten feet, and then it crashed back to the ground. The impact cratered the meadow, sending dirt and grass flying in every direction.
Reidar watched the monster’s face twist into what could only be described as a pout—if pouting involved glowing eyes, fangs, and the vague impression that the creature was about to try to eat him alive.
