Supreme Paragon Reborn: Humanity's Rise To Galactic Supremacy-Chapter 266: Unstoppable
While the alien battleships may have paled in comparison to the human warship, they were still not to be trifled with. The one Michael and the crew targeted was several dozen kilometers in length. more a flying fortress than a simple ship.
"Contact established." Michael said as the legs of his mech reached the veil of the ship.
But there was no time to celebrate. Being this close meant that the target ship focused all its firepower on them, deeming them the biggest threat.
"Spread out!"
To avoid being completely surrounded, they formed a circular formation, with Claire at the very center, using her heated lance to slowly carve a hole in the ship’s armor.
Fortunately, she was familiar with the procedure, and it didn’t take long. The moment a large hole opened up across the ship’s hull, she commanded the others to move inside while she held off the alien shuttles attacking their rear.
"Make haste!"
Upon entering, they weren’t surprised to find a line of enemies already waiting for them.
Due to their human-like appearance, Michael quickly identified them as members of the Etrox race. Thankfully, all of them were of the Elite tier. Once a formidable obstacle, they were now nothing more than a slight inconvenience.
Roar!
Charging in, Cyberfang was the first to dive into the melee, with the rest of the squad following suit.
BOOM!
Like bulldozers, they began to tear through the inside of the ship, inflicting maximum damage while still searching for the Overlord.
Michael had the option to use Bypasser to hack into the alien’s network and pinpoint the most likely location of their leader. However, doing so would burn too much of his remaining spiritual energy, leaving him weakened.
In times of war, a soldier didn’t just focus on killing. They also had to conserve their strength. That was what separated the warriors who died on their first days of deployment from the veterans who would live to see their later years.
With so many enemies on board, even Michael and the crew would eventually have found themselves overwhelmed. However, since the battle took place in the narrow corridors of a spaceship rather than an open field, the aliens couldn’t fully encircle them, making it easy for the crew to pick them off.
Like a well-trained army guarding a narrow passage, Michael’s squad tore through the alien forces. No matter how many bodies the aliens threw at them, there was no stopping them.
"Disgrace!"
At some point, the Elites stepped aside, allowing several Generals to join the fray. From the aliens’ expressions, it was clear. They were beyond furious that a few humans had not only infiltrated deep into the ship’s interior but were also cutting down so many of their troops.
"Bear witness to our might!" The Generals bellowed in unison, pouncing arrogantly, clearly certain of their victory.
Unfortunately for them, they quickly realized the error of their ways.
Michael, Victoria, Claire, and Richard were all Middle Grandmasters. More than capable of suppressing the Generals. And that was not even considering the rest of the crew, who had proven themselves more than capable of holding their own.
"Properstorious!"
Eventually, primal terror settled in the aliens’ hearts. With even the Generals unable to stop the madness, their last hope rested on the Overlord aboard the ship.
"We are getting close." Michael smirked, his eyes sweeping across the ship’s corridors filled with alien corpses.
Finally, breaking past an enormous door, they entered a colossal room with a singular being resting at the very center.
Simply by observing its overwhelming aura, it became clear that this was an Overlord.
For the first time the crew was going to face an alien of such a tier!
Slowly opening its eyes, the being scoffed.
"Ridiculous... Not even a Lord in your ranks, yet you dare come to challenge me?"
Michael’s crew didn’t react to the alien provocation.
There was no need to.
Wordlessly Michael and Claire exchanged glances through their mechas, being the first ones to charge.
"Come then!" The Overlord roared. "Let me show you the difference between us!"
Its eyes narrowed as it attempted to use Psychokinesis. However, before it could act, Michael struck first. Possessing the same ability, he quickly neutralized the Overlord’s advantage.
A perfect counter!
"Impossible!" The Overlord howled, its voice laced with nervousness as fear slowly crept in. It did its best to retaliate.
However, Claire’s movements proved too graceful. And Victoria and Richard constantly attacked it from the rear, which irritated it to no end.
"So be it then!"
Enraged, the Overlord shifted its gaze to Michael. From what it had observed, he wasn’t one to be cautious, meaning he was the easiest target to strike.
Yet before it enacted its plan, it realized that his mecha had been staying stationary all this time.
"He—"
Before the alien could utter a single word, a human shadow loomed behind it.
Michael had left his mecha and had entered the fight on foot!
True, the lack of oxygen slowed his movements. However, with the alien distracted and Michael using Fade to conceal his presence even further, the Overlord didn’t realize the looming danger until it was too late.
Slash!
Faster than a heartbeat, Michael swung. Devil’s Tongue carved a beautiful arc through the air as it beheaded the wounded creature in a single strike.
Thud!
Lifeless, the body of the Overlord dropped to the ground. Potent spiritual energy filled the colossal room.
The crew had defeated an Overlord tier alien for the first time!
"We can celebrate later! There are soldiers dying as we speak!"
Making haste, Michael took firm hold of the Overlord’s corpse and shoved it inside his mecha’s cockpit as he settled on the pilot seat.
"W-What is this for?!" Ruby’s tail puffed up, clearly alarmed by the corpse of such a terrifying creature so close to them.
Michael gently patted her head, a small gesture to calm her down.
"From what I’ve observed, you have a talent for cultivation. Since you’re unable to do much at the moment, make use of this body and cultivate as much as you can. It’s high time you enter the Master realm, just like the rest!"
In response, Ruby’s eyes sparkled with newfound determination. After licking Michael’s face a few times to show her appreciation, she settled in a meditative position and closed her eyes. Her athletic body began to absorb the spiritual energy with staggering speed.
Leaving her to focus on her cultivation, Michael instructed the crew to deal as much damage as possible to the control room.
Meanwhile, the human troops had begun engaging the remaining twelve ships in combat.
Thanks to Michael’s crew managing to hold one of the battleships at bay, they were able to focus more of their forces on the flying ships.
And yet, their losses continued to mount. The experienced soldiers struggled due to their poor synergy, leading to devastating casualties.
’If things continue like this, a large part of our force is going to be wiped out.’ Everybody held the same grim thought.
Capitalizing on the opportunity, the aliens pushed harder.
But in that moment, an enormous explosion erupted at the very backline, causing the entire battlefield to come to a halt as all eyes turned to stare in utter shock.
There, one of the alien battleships was reduced to rubble, with countless dead bodies drifting in the void of space. Appearing from the wreckage, it was clear that the suicide crew, as the rest of the troops had started to call them, had emerged victorious with zero casualties!
Even more bewildering, they showed no signs of slowing down, heading straight for the next closest battleship.
A single destroyed ship wasn’t enough to satisfy their bloodlust.
