Chapter 304: Infirmary

"How did you get here?" asked Idan of the girls.

By this time, he could already feel the medicinal pill starting to take effect. He couldn’t wait to complete the current task of the System and immediately go to Arabel’s aid.

At first, Idan even wanted to give up the task, but after looking at his condition, he realized that even if he went to help immediately, his mana and physical condition would not allow him to make a long flight.

If he spends all his energy flying instead of recovering, he will arrive tired and barely standing on his feet. Therefore, he needed to regain some strength first and only then go to help. Therefore, he decided to complete the System’s task first and at the same time recover a little.

"By airplane, — Nimuka replied.

"Oh!" said Idan, and his eyes shone. "Is it fast?"

"Of course it’s fast. This is not just an airplane, but a slightly modified jet," Uvasha said.

"Ha-ha-ha, that’s how it is!" — Idan rejoiced.

"Then I have a request for you..." Idan decided to briefly tell them about what happened in the city: about his connections with Irene, about the impostors, about the missing awakened from other guilds, and about who is behind the wave of beasts that recently attacked the city.

After hearing Idan’s words, everyone realized how serious the situation was.

Like Idan and Arabel, the girls for some reason were not very surprised by the presence of outsiders, as if they had already encountered them before.

"So you’re the one Irene was talking about?" asked Yara.

"Yes, initially, my girlfriend and I came to Rumbus at Irene’s personal request," Idan replied, and upon hearing him mention his girlfriend, Hailey’s face immediately frowned.

"The situation is more serious than we thought," Yara said.

Realizing that their leader Hailey is now unable to make decisions because of this guy, Yara decided to take over the interim leadership of the group. The girls, who were already used to their leader’s oddities, did not object.

"Sarah and Lara, go to the airport, contact the pilots and find out if they managed to land or not. If they have already landed, let them prepare for takeoff. If not, then let them land quickly. As soon as we finish here, we will go to the rescue of the abducted awakened ones," Yara commanded, and the twins, although they looked a little unhappy, decided to obey.

After the twins left, Idan focused entirely on recuperating and completing the task he had received from the System. Now that the girls from the Red Fox Guild had agreed to help, he finally had transportation, and he no longer had to travel vast distances on his wings.

Idan was determined to come to Arabel’s aid as soon as possible, but first he wanted to restore his strength to the maximum.

"System, please remind Belle to prepare herself carefully before taking action. And also tell her to eliminate the interference that prevents me from contacting Ned first," Idan addressed the System.

[Accepted] was the System’s response.

Another reason why Idan decided to complete the System’s task and restore his strength was because of the backup plan, the success of which depended on Arabel being able to eliminate the interference.

It was easy to find Nico’s group in the crowd of people who came out to meet Idan’s group.

Nico’s system was still in a strange state, but during that time he had already more or less understood what his own System wanted to convey to him.

Not only him, but all the members of his group were very excited to see the guy who saved their lives by defeating those three outsiders. However, for some reason, none of them dared to come forward and speak to Idan.

"Aren’t you the awakened ones who faced the other two outsiders?" To the delight of Nico and his companions, Idan addressed them himself, finding them in the crowd.

"Yes, it’s us!" they exclaimed, so excited that their bodies trembled in front of Idan.

"I’m in a hurry, so I’ll get right to the point. Is there anyone among you who is infected with a strange alien energy?" Idan asked Nico, and when they heard his question, they were surprised at first, and then quickly nodded their heads.

"Yes, there is!" exclaimed Nico. "A girl from our group was infected with a strange energy as a result of an outsider attack, as were the two girls from the Association’s group!"

"Oh!" Idan was surprised, at the same time glad that he had finally found his goals. "Where are they?"

"Over here! They’re in the infirmary!" suggested Nico, pointing the way, and almost ran towards the medical center.

Due to his injuries, Idan couldn’t keep up with the guy, but he tried his best, seeing how excited he was.

When Idan and the others reached the designated place, they were met by the military, who blocked their way to the infirmary.

"The passage is closed!" one of the soldiers announced decisively.

"What’s going on?" asked Nico, frowning.

"An order has been received not to allow anyone to visit the victims until the cause of the infection is clarified," the military explained. "Everyone who came into contact with the affected awakened ones also became infected, and two of them subsequently died."

"What?" everyone was surprised.

Idan was as startled as the others.

"Did the System really ask me to take care of these patients to prevent the spread of the infection? If that’s the case, then why me?" wondered Idan.

"Let me in," Idan said, stepping forward, but the soldiers remained at their post, blocking his way.

Although Idan hadn’t canceled his transformation yet, his hair and eyes were dyed red. However, with the transition to the recovery state, the fire element completely disappeared, as did the presence of the energy of madness.

His right eye, like his left, returned to red, as did his hair color. Now, no one could say that Idan was a member of another race. Even the temperature around him returned to normal and became the same as that of ordinary people.

Idan turned to Yara and the other girls, who, realizing his intentions, stepped forward and cleared the way for him. The military tried to stop them, but their forces were unequal.

"I’ll go alone," Idan said to Hailey, who was following him in silence.

She just smiled, not saying a word. But there was determination in her gaze, and Idan, sighing, decided not to pay attention to this crazy woman and went inside.

The infirmary was divided into two parts. In one of them, three awakened girls were lying on beds, and in the second there were medical personnel and military personnel who contacted them during transportation and treatment.

They were all infected, unconscious, and moaning in pain from time to time, trembling on their beds.

Idan, looking at the condition of the infected and at the energy itself, which resembled black liquid, immediately recognized it. It was this energy that made up the writings on the outsiders’ bodies and the weapons they used during the battle.

Suddenly, he remembered how, when he used the "Flash" spell of the element of light, the writings on the women’s bodies began to dissolve and disappear under the influence of the element of light.

"So that’s it! That’s why the System gave me this task! System already knew that my light element was able to solve this problem!" — Idan immediately understood why the System had given him such a task.

To test his guess, Idan first checked his mana level and, after making sure that it had recovered a little, created a small ball of light at his fingertips.

He slowly lifted the ball of light over one of the infected.

As soon as the light of the spell fell on the black energy, it began to smoke and gradually dissolve.

After seeing the result, Idan was convinced that he was right and canceled the ball of light. Then, without wasting any time, he placed his hands on the infected man’s chest and began to pour the element of light directly into his body.

The infected man’s body began to tremble and smoke, filling the infirmary with a strange acrid smell. Because of this smell, Idan stopped. Only after making sure that he was harmless did he continue the treatment, at the same time asking to turn on the ventilation at full capacity. Without this, after treating several infected people inside the infirmary, it would have become impossible to breathe.

"I really need to master new spells of the light element, especially those related to healing," Idan thought again, realizing the importance of developing his second element. He looked at Selena, the last of the awakened ones he had dealt with, and saw her terrible wounds sustained in a clash with an outsider.

Unfortunately, Idan didn’t have healing spells, and he couldn’t help Selena heal from these injuries.

[Ding! The task "Rescue awakened ones infected with alien energy" has been successfully completed. Saved 3 out of 3]

[The reward for completing the tasks is an Oath of Loyalty. Three systems — one Rare and two Ordinary systems — are subordinated to the Hosts and this System.]

"Huh?"
