Supreme Hunter of Beautiful Souls-Chapter 89: Survive the Fittest
Kael watched the last battles, his expression serene, but his eyes sharp as blades. The competition so far had been dull—mediocre students facing each other, some with raw talent but no refinement. Nothing truly caught his attention, except for Amelia Valroth. But then, something changed.
The hall fell silent as firm footsteps echoed through the space. A woman with an overwhelming presence stepped into the arena, wearing a black robe with golden details, the imperial emblem embroidered on her chest. Her emerald-green hair swallowed the light around her, and her icy-green eyes swept over the students as if evaluating each of their souls.
Kael frowned for a moment. He had seen this woman before.
"Ladies and gentlemen," her voice was like restrained thunder—firm and full of authority. "My name is Hella Valroth. For those who don't know me yet, I am the Emperor's Advisor."
Murmurs spread among the students. The name Valroth sounded familiar to Kael. His eyes instinctively went to Amelia, who now wore a neutral expression, though her posture hinted at discomfort.

Valroth.
Hella.
Amelia.
"Shit." Kael quickly connected the dots. They were related.
He opened his mouth to say something, but before any words could escape, Hella raised a hand.
The world around them exploded in a blinding flash.
It felt as if his body had been pulled into another reality, every cell vibrating with immense magic. When Kael blinked again, the environment had changed completely.
Now, he stood in a peculiar dimension: an enormous cube that seemed to stretch into infinity, with platforms of different sizes floating in the void. Some moved slowly, while others spun in the air, creating a dynamic and unpredictable battlefield.
Kael remained calm, but many of the students around him did not share his composure—cries of surprise and fear echoed through the space.
Hella, now floating above them, smirked slightly. "From this moment on, the rules have changed." Her voice reverberated in all directions. "There will be no more organized duels. This will be a true test of survival."
She made a sweeping gesture, and countless golden runes shimmered around her.
"The last one standing will be crowned the Top 1 of this selection."
Kael raised an eyebrow. This was unexpected—but not unwelcome.
"Oh, and before you get any wrong ideas..." Hella tilted her head, her cold smile unwavering. "You are not to kill your opponents. Just incapacitate them or throw them out of the arena."
Kael looked around, seeing the other students exchanging nervous glances. What was once a simple display of individual talents had turned into an actual battle.
"Now..." Hella raised her hand again, and with a simple snap of her fingers, a powerful wave of energy pulsed through the cube, activating all the platforms.
"Begin."
Chaos erupted.
Kael remained still for a few seconds, observing the movements around him. As if rehearsed, almost all the students turned their attention toward him, their gazes filled with irritation and resentment. He didn't need any special abilities to understand why.
Throughout the entire evaluation, he had shown complete disinterest in his opponents, treating everything as if it were a dull game. His expression always serene, his posture relaxed, the way he barely took the tests seriously—it wounded the pride of many present.
And now, surrounded by dozens of students eager to prove a point, Kael simply let out a sigh, running a hand through his hair.
"I should've seen this coming."
The first wave of attacks came without hesitation.
A golden-haired mage hurled a fireball at him, while a warrior charged forward with his sword raised. At the same time, an archer fired an arrow infused with wind magic to cut off any possible escape route.
Coordinated movements? No. It was just collective hatred pushing everyone against a single target.
But for Kael, this was still... disappointing.
The instant before the attacks hit him, his body vanished.
Fwoosh!
The attacks collided with empty space—the fireball exploded against the ground, and the arrow disappeared into the cube's darkness.
Before his attackers could react, a thunderous sound echoed through the arena.
BANG!
The warrior who had charged at him was sent flying, his body spinning through the air before crashing into one of the floating platforms. His eyes were wide open, utterly clueless about what had just happened.
Kael reappeared exactly where he had been, now holding the warrior's sword—completely unharmed.
He glanced at the blade for a moment before tossing it aside, utterly uninterested.
"If this is your level, then this fight will be over pretty fast."
His nonchalant tone only fueled their collective fury.
"YOU SON OF A—!"
Another student lunged at him, electricity crackling in his fists, followed by several others, launching a flurry of attacks of different styles and elements.
Kael merely smiled.
"Alright then… let's play for a bit."
With a single step, he moved—his speed far beyond what anyone there could follow.
The massacre began.
Kael danced through the arena, his movements a spectacle on their own. Every enemy that approached was defeated in seconds, leaving them no chance to react.
A student tried to strike him from behind with an enchanted blade—Kael simply shifted his body slightly, grabbed the boy's wrist, and tossed him into another opponent coming from the side.
A conjurer was preparing an ice spell, but before he could finish, Kael appeared right in front of him and tapped his chest with two fingers. A surge of mana coursed through the conjurer's body—he fainted on the spot.
It was humiliating.
It didn't matter what tactics they used or how many opponents there were—Kael cut through them all like leaves in the wind.
He leaped onto a higher platform, scanning the remaining combatants. The number of fighters had already dwindled drastically. And then, something caught his attention.
Amelia Valroth.
She was surrounded. More than twenty opponents were pressuring her, trying to overwhelm her with coordinated attacks. But unlike the others, Amelia stood firm, her posture elegant and her gaze as cold as ice.
Kael smirked and jumped down from the platform, landing beside her casually, as if he were merely strolling through a garden.
Amelia raised an eyebrow as he approached.
"A temporary alliance?" Kael asked, a playful grin on his lips as he summoned a mana blade in his hand.
Amelia smirked, raising one hand and conjuring a blade of ice.
"Read my mind."
The enemies hesitated. Fighting Amelia alone was already a challenge. But now, with Kael by her side…
They were doomed.
"Let's end this quickly," Kael murmured before charging forward.
The first to act was a tall young man wielding an enchanted spear. He lunged at Kael in a swift motion, aiming straight for his chest.
Kael simply tilted his body to the side and, without hesitation, struck the spear with his mana blade, slicing it cleanly in half. Before his opponent could react, a powerful kick to the stomach sent him flying off the platform, making him disappear from the battle dimension.
Amelia, beside him, had already pierced one of her attackers with her ice blade—not fatally, but enough to force him to retreat. She moved with the grace of a dancer, dodging spells that were fired at her and cutting down anyone who got too close.
The enemies started working together, launching multiple magical attacks simultaneously. Waves of fire, ice, and lightning came from all directions.
Kael clicked his tongue. "So noisy."
He raised his mana sword and, with a single swing, unleashed a wave of pure blue energy, dispersing the spells before they could reach them.
The attackers hesitated.
Amelia seized the opportunity. She slid forward, her ice blade spinning in a precise arc, cutting down three opponents in a single motion. Their expressions froze—literally—before they were teleported out of the arena.
"You fight well," Kael commented, effortlessly dodging an arrow that nearly grazed his face. Without even looking back, he fired a small burst of mana, striking the archer and sending him flying.
"You're not bad yourself," Amelia replied, a playful smirk on her lips.
The few remaining opponents realized the obvious: fighting Kael and Amelia at the same time was suicide.
"Separate them!" someone shouted.
They tried.
Five combatants launched themselves at Kael simultaneously. Another five charged at Amelia.
"Idiots," Kael muttered.
He ducked at the last second, narrowly avoiding a thrust, then released a pulse of mana around his body.
The explosion of energy blasted everyone around him, knocking down the five who had tried to surround him. Before they could rise, he finished each of them off with swift, precise strikes from his mana sword.
On the other side, Amelia froze the ground beneath her feet, gliding effortlessly between her opponents with graceful movements. She cut through them with precision, incapacitating her enemies without wasting energy.
In less than a minute, all those who had attempted to separate them were defeated.
Kael twirled his blade before dissipating it. "That was disappointing."
Amelia sighed, adjusting her silver hair. "I expected more of a challenge."
They looked around. The battlefield, once chaotic, was now nearly empty. Only the two of them remained.
Kael grinned. "So... that just leaves you and me."
Amelia raised an eyebrow. "Seems like it."
The tension between them thickened.
Kael clenched his fists, ready for the final battle.
Amelia smirked. "Let's see what you're really capable of."
And then, both of them charged at the same time.
