Supreme Hidden Dragon in the City-Chapter 439: The Legacy of the Nine Heavens Fairy
Chapter 439: Chapter 439: The Legacy of the Nine Heavens Fairy
The peach forest bloomed with spring colors, time forgotten.
Two figures intertwined with affection, toss and turn, blending as intimately as water and milk.
"Do you... do you like me?" An Lan clung tightly to Chen Fan, as if she wished to sink her nails into his back.
Chen Fan nodded vigorously, "I like you."
An Lan seemed to enjoy this feeling too, and it even led to an endless affection and dependence on Chen Fan, desiring to stay with him for a lifetime, continuing their intimate embrace.
Chen Fan gradually regained consciousness after who knows how long. When he realized what he was doing, a pang of regret, annoyance, and a lack of self-control instantly rose in his heart.
He was unable to control the power surging out from his body, and in an instant, it destroyed the entire peach forest.
An Lan, however, still indulged in the sweetness with Chen Fan, unaware of any anomaly.
At this moment, the scenery around them began to change. The peach forest vanished, the beauty shattered, and all the romantic allure ceased to exist.
In its place was a dark, humid, enclosed space, with an air filled with the scent of dust, causing one to feel suffocated.
Chen Fan suddenly opened his eyes, only to find himself within a dome-shaped tomb. In the center of the tomb lay a crystal coffin, allowing a clear view of an exquisitely dressed, breathtakingly beautiful, and noble figure within.
It was the Nine Heavens Fairy, already devoid of any life!
Next to the crystal coffin, there was a stone table with a few items on it, which seemed to be the relics of the Nine Heavens Fairy.
Besides that, the tomb was empty, void of anything else.
The previously existing boudoir and peach forest were no more.
Chen Fan was in no mood to look at the crystal coffin or the items on the table. His first action was to feel his own clothes, and he breathed a sigh of relief after realizing he wasn’t naked.
Although earlier he had been controlled by the illusion technique of the Nine Heavens Fairy’s evil spirit, losing consciousness, he remembered everything he had experienced, and those feelings were all incredibly real, not like an illusion at all.
This made him somewhat distraught upon regaining consciousness. He never thought he would do something to betray Su Qingyan, and with a woman he didn’t like in the slightest.
However, realizing after waking up that his clothes were properly worn and he was seated cross-legged on the ground, he felt that what he had just experienced was most likely an illusion, an illusion that felt abnormally real.
"This evil spirit’s illusion technique is truly terrifying. I didn’t stand a chance to resist. But thankfully, it was just an illusion, or else I really don’t know how I would face Qingyan when I go back."
Thinking this, Chen Fan breathed a long sigh of relief.
At this time, An Lan was sitting cross-legged opposite him, seemingly still not free from the illusion.
Chen Fan looked at the woman before him who had a face as stunning as the Nine Heavens Fairy, and recalling how he had come to know every inch of her skin in the illusionary realm, he felt a wave of discomfort wash over him.
He saw that two buttons on An Lan’s shirt were unbuttoned, revealing her delicate collarbone, and just below it, a red mole.
In the Illusionary Realm, An Lan also had such a mole on her body.
This made Chen Fan momentarily unsure if his previous experience had really been within the Illusionary Realm or not.
"Maybe the Illusion Technique is more advanced, which makes it seem so real," Chen Fan muttered to himself before he stopped overthinking and released a surge of power to help An Lan regain consciousness.
An Lan slowly opened her eyes, her brows carrying a hint of exhaustion, but her eyes were filled with satisfaction.
Seeing Chen Fan sitting across from her, her face immediately showed a shy blush and she said, "Although you’re very annoying, I am your woman now, no matter what, from this day forward..."
Chen Fan hurriedly interrupted her, "Don’t talk nonsense, what we just experienced was just an illusion, it’s all fake, and should not be taken for reality. There’s no relationship between us."
An Lan was slightly startled before she looked down to check her body, then glared at Chen Fan, her voice filled with indignation and hurt, "You bastard, when you wanted me you kept saying how much you liked me, I even put up with your violence, but as soon as you pull up your pants, you turn your back on me and even came up with such a lame excuse, you... you’re really too much!"
Chen Fan looked at her helplessly and explained, "Although what we went through felt real, it was indeed an illusion. Your feelings were fake. Besides, look around us, the Peach Forest from before is gone, and this here is the real environment we’re in."
An Lan turned to look around, and finally, her gaze fell on Chen Fan. She said with conviction, "Even if the Peach Forest was fake, what happened between us was definitely real, otherwise... otherwise I..."
Chen Fan, puzzled, asked, "Otherwise what?"
An Lan turned her head to the side with a cold snort, "You just want to hit it and quit it, you really are a jerk!"
Chen Fan thought An Lan was just saying this to cling to him, so he shrugged his shoulders, stood up, and walked over to the crystal coffin and stone table.
"Think whatever you want, you haven’t encountered these things before, so it’s normal to not be able to differentiate illusion from reality, you’ll gradually understand," he said.
An Lan, seeing his attitude, felt even more wronged, her eyes quickly becoming veiled with mist. If it weren’t for her not wanting Chen Fan to see her weak side, she likely would’ve already started crying.
She took a deep breath and checked her body again, more convinced than ever that what had happened wasn’t an illusion.
"Asshole, if you don’t want to own up, just say so, don’t dress it up with noble-sounding excuses. Humph, anyway, I gave you my first time, you can deny it, but I am going to stick to you!"
She didn’t plan to quibble over this now; even if she wanted this guy to take responsibility, that could wait until they got out of this ancient tomb.
She tried to stand up from the ground, but as she did, a sensation of weakness spread through her legs, even trembling slightly, causing her to nearly lose her balance and fall.
Finally steadying herself, An Lan stood and recovered for a bit before she could barely walk.
At this moment, Chen Fan had his back to her and didn’t notice An Lan’s struggles.
An Lan gave Chen Fan’s back a resentful glance and then slowly made her way towards the crystal coffin.
Somewhat absent-minded, she stared at the person in the coffin who looked just like her and murmured, "Will I look like this after I die?"
Chen Fan, looking somewhat pensive, said, "This must be the real Nine Heavens Fairy. Indeed, there’s no life in her anymore; she’s been dead for who knows how many years."
"But even after death for so many years, her body hasn’t decayed at all and looks no different from a living person’s—just as if she’s asleep. Such a powerful being is truly terrifying."
An Lan asked, "Since her body has become immortal, do you think there’s any possibility she could come back to life?"
Chen Fan pondered for a moment before answering, "I don’t know."
He then approached the table and saw that there were four items laid out on it.
One of them was a dark red bead, faintly emitting a shimmer of light that flickered in and out of visibility.
The moment Chen Fan saw the bead, his pupils contracted sharply.
"Heavenly Creation Pearl! I never expected to find a Heavenly Creation Pearl hidden inside the tomb of the Mysterious Lady!" His voice was tinged with excitement.
He immediately thought to share this news with Little Ling, but considering that Little Ling was asleep, he dismissed the idea.
"What’s a Heavenly Creation Pearl?" An Lan asked curiously.
Chen Fan replied, "It’s something quite important to me, something I didn’t expect to encounter here."
"Oh," An Lan rolled her eyes, thinking to herself that his explanation was as good as none.
Chen Fan pocketed the Heavenly Creation Pearl and turned his attention to the other three items.
They were a jade bracelet, a phoenix crown, and a sheet of golden paper.
First, Chen Fan picked up the jade bracelet and observed it carefully. He discovered it contained an extremely unusual power that was somewhat similar to the Jade Pendant he had obtained earlier, which had hidden within it the Inheritance Record.
He tried to activate the jade bracelet but was met with resistance.
Then he turned to An Lan and said, "Bite your finger and drip a drop of blood on it."
An Lan quickly hid her hand, "I don’t want to."
Chen Fan said, "This bracelet likely conceals the Nine Heavens Fairy’s inheritance, and it’s probably meant for you. No one else can retrieve it—it could be your great opportunity."
After pondering, An Lan said, "I don’t care for such an opportunity. I only want you. If I give you this bracelet, will you marry me?"
Chen Fan, helpless, stuffed the bracelet into An Lan’s hand, "It’s up to you whether you want this inheritance or not; I can’t manage it for you."
Afterward, he picked up the phoenix crown from the stone table to examine it.
An Lan gave Chen Fan an indignant look but obediently put on the bracelet, though she didn’t drip any blood on it.
Feeling the unique nature of the phoenix crown, Chen Fan realized it contained an extraordinarily terrifying power. Just as a hint of his consciousness tried to probe the crown, his spiritual soul shivered, as if further inquiry would see it annihilated by the crown.
"Could it be a Divine Artifact?" Chen Fan wondered inwardly. Given his current realm, he didn’t yet have the confidence to control a Divine Artifact, so for the time being, he put the phoenix crown away to study later.
Lastly, he took the sheet of golden paper and looked it over. Despite observing for a long while, he found nothing special; there weren’t even the slightest fluctuations of power on it. Were it not for its golden color, it would pass for nothing but an ordinary piece of paper.
"For the Nine Heavens Fairy to deliberately leave this in her tomb, this item should be out of the ordinary, but why can’t I feel any purpose to it?"
Holding the paper, Chen Fan scrutinized it before attempting to infuse a sliver of Spiritual Energy into it.
At that moment, a flash of brilliance on the paper revealed a line of text.
Chen Fan quickly read it and saw it read: "For the Nine Heavens Fairy to deliberately leave this in her tomb, this item should be out of the ordinary, but why can’t I feel any purpose to it?"
"What the heck, what’s going on? Isn’t this what I was just thinking?" Chen Fan’s eyes bulged, his face filled with disbelief.
Suddenly another line appeared on the golden paper: "What the heck, what’s going on? Isn’t this what I was just thinking?"
Chen Fan: "???"
"Could it be that this golden paper can read minds? Reflecting one’s thoughts?" Chen Fan speculated internally.
The next second, the golden paper wrote out this thought as well.
The characters appeared for a moment and then quickly faded, suggesting that the paper only displayed thoughts for a certain time, which made sense since it was only so big, and people’s thoughts change in an instant. If it constantly recorded them, it would be filled to the brim before long.
To test the golden paper’s function, Chen Fan passed it to An Lan and said, "Hold this paper."
An Lan obediently caught it and asked, "What for?"
As Chen Fan leaned in, a dense array of words swiftly materialized on the golden paper.
"This heartless man, always using me as a guinea pig, always with a commanding tone, not gentle at all—even though I’m a girl, you know!"
"And even though he clearly took advantage of me, he stubbornly denies it and makes up some story about an Illusionary Realm, which makes me so angry."
"But on the other hand, the muscles on his body feel so powerful; he’s exactly my type, just too rough. Making a girl’s waist and legs sore, what a big bad guy!"
"But it felt so good!"
"If only I could touch his muscles again..."
"Huh, how come this paper is showing my thoughts???"
Both Chen Fan and An Lan were stunned as they watched the words appear on the golden paper, and in an instant, the tomb chamber was enveloped in silence.
