Supreme Heir Son-in-law-Chapter 1148 - 1147: All Must Be Dismissed
Once Hong Xuan left, only then did the company employees dare to move forward.
Although they saw Hong Xuan show respect to Xu Ke, they were more eager to see Xu Ke, and so some even left their seats.
At this moment, Vice President of the branch, Chang Jingshu, suddenly opened the door from inside, crossed her arms, looked at the group of employees around Xu Ke, and slammed the table beside her forcefully, making a particularly loud sound, drawing everyone’s attention towards her.
"The message from the Headquarters’ personnel department minister was very clear just now. What are you all looking at? It seems you’re becoming increasingly undisciplined!"
Chang Jingshu looked at those employees, thinking how President Li used to neglect the company, always leaving it to her to handle, so she felt she hadn’t done anything wrong.
She even glanced at Xu Ke with a hint of blame, thinking Xu Ke was just like President Li before — incompetent and clueless about managing the company. It seemed this parachuted-in president was here not to work seriously, but just to experience life.
So when she looked at Xu Ke, there was disdain in her eyes, even animosity, which Xu Ke naturally sensed, draping his suit jacket over his arm.
But in front of these employees, he couldn’t directly undermine her, although this person was indeed a bit arrogant. Still, the company needed someone rigid like this, so Xu Ke walked straight past Chang Jingshu and then turned to say, "Vice President Chang, come with me."
Upon hearing Xu Ke call her, Chang Jingshu felt momentarily stunned, but quickly reacted — the president was calling her, while everyone else paid attention.
"Starting today, as the president of the branch, I have the authority to reduce staff."
After Xu Ke spoke, the employees counted themselves fortunate, thinking Vice President Chang’s arrogant days were numbered, even causing Chang Jingshu’s whole expression to change — could the president really be addressing her?
"President, actually, I just... I wasn’t..."
Before Chang Jingshu finished speaking, she was cut off: "Later, provide me a list of those in the company who need to be laid off — report back to me immediately."
"Moreover, I see everyone isn’t very busy right now, so we have an excess of staff in some areas. Regardless of position, any employee who is slacking off will be laid off."
Xu Ke finished speaking and turned to the disconcerted Chang Jingshu, continuing: "Don’t worry about their background, just report them to me. As for what happens, I’ll take responsibility — now go."
Regardless, Chang Jingshu had long seen these issues but dared not touch these people, and though Xu Ke’s plan indeed struck a chord with her, she thought at least she was a vice president. How could she be tasked with such matters?
Chang Jingshu’s face darkened: "President, I think such matters are best left to the personnel department. There’s no need for me to personally verify each one; the company is too large for me to manage, and I have more important tasks waiting."
As Chang Jingshu resisted, the employees were amazed, yet Xu Ke was unsurprised, foreseeing this response.
"If you consider this a minor issue, why wasn’t it addressed before? There are no minor issues in the company; by laying off slackers, we can elevate our existing employees’ salaries to a new level — is this a minor issue? Also, what important tasks are waiting that only you can handle?"
Upon Xu Ke’s reprimand, the employees were more frightened than Chang Jingshu, and now among themselves they were no longer cooperative, slacking off, and covering for each other.
Meanwhile, Chang Jingshu’s face turned red with shame; she hadn’t anticipated Xu Ke would openly rebuke her in front of so many people, instantly feeling her reputation dimmed.
Despite that, she had no way to counter, so she could only open her mouth, realizing why this hadn’t been resolved before. Wasn’t it because President Li had many cronies she dared not cross?
Now, Xu Ke’s words implied... well, this new leader was lighting the first fire on her, and Chang Jingshu could only resign herself to bad luck.
"Okay, President, I’ll handle this matter right now. Is there anything else you need me to address? I’ll take care of it all."
Chang Jingshu softened, surprising the employees, as the usual domineering and harsh Chang Jingshu was brought into submission by the new president, leaving them no choice but to respect Xu Ke.
After assigning tasks to Chang Jingshu, Xu Ke called each minister to his office for a meeting. After the meeting, the ministers left feeling despondent.
"I feel like our new president isn’t just aiming to cut down employees; even some members of the leadership team might be leaving, right?"
"It’s not just the leadership team; Vice President barely arrived and already offended the president. Her future days don’t look promising; the president could find a reason to lay off the vice president as well."
"Alright, stop speculating. Don’t you want a pay raise? When those slackers leave, our salaries will immediately double. Isn’t it nice to have a warm salary? What’s there to complain about?"
Working for merely an afternoon, Xu Ke had already grasped the entire company’s development trajectory, calling the exhausted Vice President into the office, and indeed, Chang Jingshu was quick and impartial, compiling the list, which even included her own niece.
Xu Ke reviewed the list and found no issues with it.
"Your list only addresses the layoff of grassroots employees. Our leadership team actually has many parachuted members too — include all those leadership figures as well."
Upon hearing Xu Ke’s words, Chang Jingshu shook her head: "There are still company shareholders involved, and I’m afraid it’s beyond my capability, plus there might be people from the Xiao Family — I can’t act against them. I hope you understand, President."
Xu Ke directly printed out the list and handed it to Chang Jingshu, containing all the leaders’ names.
"Now the names are here, simply mark them. If anyone’s offended, I’m the one offending — not you."
After hearing this, Chang Jingshu hesitated but eventually picked up a pen to circle the names.
Xu Ke took the list back, seeing more than half of the names were circled, which made him twitch his lips. This company was so corrupt; no wonder it hadn’t developed — if it did, he’d be surprised.
