Supreme Heir Son-in-law-Chapter 1061 - 1060: Leaning on Each Other
Han Ning was fervently wishing, as she really couldn’t guess at the moment what was on Xu Ke’s mind. Could he possibly be thinking of finding a good reason to fire her?
That was indeed a possibility.
This was the end. The boss was angry, and she wouldn’t be able to continue working at this company.
Xu Ke looked at the expressive young girl in front of him and thought, this quirky little girl he brought back from the bar—how could she be so mischievous?
In the office, the warm yellow lights made the whole room exceptionally cozy.
Han Ning couldn’t believe she was having such close interactions with Xu Ke, which for the other girls in the office,
was a huge stroke of luck.
Han Ning remembered that the female employees in the office set Xu Ke as the standard for choosing a partner. However, they were unaware that Xu Ke wasn’t that easy to get along with.
His assistant had long sensed this.
In the past, when Mrs. Su was around, Xu Ke was just a kid, knowing nothing and everything was play to him. He didn’t even like attending school.
He spent his days with his so-called friends until nightfall because, after all, he had a wealthy father.
Unexpectedly, three years ago, because of Mrs. Su’s departure, no one knew that the always family-loving Mrs. Su would leave with another man. From then on, Xu Ke truly matured.
Yes, in their eyes, Xu Ke couldn’t bear any real responsibility. Even Grandpa Su doubted Xu Ke’s abilities.
So much so that over the years, he never entrusted Xu Ke with managing the company.
Until an accidental press conference, Xu Ke impressed the elders present with his extensive knowledge.
Indeed, "Like father, like son," and this was all thanks to Grandpa Su.
Perhaps only Grandpa Su understood that he owed his son too much, whether in money or material needs.
Mrs. Su’s departure dealt a big blow to Xu Ke.
He never expected that one day he would become a child without a mother. Even his classmates at school looked down on him, calling him a wild child with a mother who gave birth to him but no one to care for him.
For a time, Xu Ke’s personality underwent drastic changes.
Until his middle school year, the unexpected appearance of Xu Ke brought Xu Ke his first friend. Though because of the company, they rarely interacted over the years, the bond between them remained.
Even Xu Ke sometimes couldn’t understand why he acted as he did.
"Boss Xu, Boss Xu, what are you thinking about?"
Han Ning noticed a peculiar look in Xu Ke’s eyes, assuming he was pondering personal matters. Who would have thought her big boss had his own little thoughts?
As Xu Ke later put it, who hasn’t been young before?
"Ah. Nothing, nothing really. Are you still thinking about going home from work? I told you not to think about it. It’s not going to happen. I won’t let you off work so easily."
Han Ning felt helpless; she hadn’t done anything to provoke her big boss.
Xu Ke felt a little embarrassed. He had never lost his composure in front of a girl before. However, Han Ning still didn’t know that Xu Ke behaved this way because of this.
Still contemplating how not to get fired by Xu Ke.
"Boss, don’t just stand there. I’ll get back to work properly. I was wrong. This kind of thing won’t happen again with me."
Han Ning’s firm promise made Xu Ke find her even more adorable.
"Rest assured, I won’t fire you. Have you had dinner?"
Xu Ke knew that Han Ning wasn’t the type to sneak out for dinner. Seeing her remain silent,
it was clear she hadn’t eaten.
"Let’s go. I haven’t eaten either. Let’s eat together. I’m treating you, since it’s the Chongyang Festival today."
With that, Xu Ke took Han Ning and left without much thought.
However, at the moment, Han Ning still found it all somewhat unreal. Could it be real that the big boss was treating her to dinner? Was this not a dream?
And so, the two of them walked out of the company.
Coincidentally, Xiao Wan caught sight of the scene. So, Xu Ke was dating recently.
She had never seen this girl before. No wonder Xu Ke hadn’t been going home much lately. It apparently wasn’t because of Mrs. Su.
Could it be that Xu Ke didn’t care at all about Tangtang and Guoguo?
As Xu Ke stepped out of the company building, he already saw Xiao Wan not far away. Without thinking, he naturally held Han Ning’s hand.
It was as if he was declaring his territory.
This is my woman, no one else is allowed to touch her.
"Uh, Boss, what are we eating? Are you sure you’re treating me? I’d like to say, I don’t have any midnight snack money?"
Han Ning looked genuinely broke.
Making Xu Ke find it particularly amusing, as if discovering that the world still had such delightful people.
"Don’t worry. I’ll treat you. Whatever you want to eat, I’ll cover it. Don’t worry?"
Hearing her big boss assure like that, Han Ning instantly felt relieved.
At a certain upscale restaurant.
Xu Ke and Han Ning sat by a window, offering a view of the entire city.
Perhaps no one knew, but this had been Han Ning’s wish all along, unexpectedly fulfilled by Xu Ke.
"What’s wrong with you? What are you thinking about?"
With Xu Ke’s question, Han Ning was pulled back to the present.
"Nothing, Boss. You know, I once had a wish of dining in a high-end restaurant like this and being content just sitting down for a meal. I never thought you’d make it happen today."
As Han Ning shared.
Yes, at this moment, her heart was moved.
And so, the meal ended up being finished that way.
What neither of them expected was that someone was quietly observing them while they ate, in a dim corner of the hotel.
"Uh, Boss, are you full? Why do I feel something’s off?"
Han Ning’s words served as a reminder to Xu Ke. The hotel indeed felt odd, though he wasn’t sure what exactly was amiss.
"What’s wrong, just focus on your meal. Why worry so much?"
In fact, Xu Ke had noticed before coming in. Presumably, that person was sent by his mother to watch over him.
This woman could really be a bit of a nuisance.
Now, she was even starting to meddle in whom he dined with.
Unbeknownst to her, he wouldn’t stay in this house much longer either. "Alright then, Boss, eat up. It’s the Chongyang Festival. Have more."
"Rest assured, I’ll eat till I’m full. Since I paid for this meal myself, I certainly won’t shortchange myself. Don’t worry too much."
Han Ning felt speechless; how had she not realized before just how cunning her boss was?
