Rosalie froze for a moment before a small smile appeared on her face, and she gently patted his back. She had realized he was thanking her for wiping his face earlier.

’He is not a bad kid at heart.’ She thought.

He had taken advantage of her situation, but she didn’t hold it against him because nothing was free in this world. If you wanted something, you would have to be willing to give up something in exchange. Even your close ones wouldn’t give you anything for free, let alone Eric, who she didn’t even know.

"Okay, now wear these clothes and come have lunch." She said but didn’t try to pull away from his embrace because she liked it there. She felt comfortable and safe.

’Sigh! If you treat me like this for a few days, I wouldn’t resent you even if you have lied about the noble young master being able to help me.’ She thought, taking a relaxed breath.

Eric vaguely sensed she was becoming emotional. So, he tightened his hold around her and started gently caressing her back.

He felt really grateful to her because she wiped his face for almost half an hour even though she didn’t need to. It showed she was a caring person.

Of course, the thought that she might have done that to leave a good impression on him so he wouldn’t go back on his words, but he knew this wasn’t the case because even though he hadn’t interacted with her much, he could tell she wasn’t a scheming person.

Exhaling deeply, he pushed her back and looked her in the eye before slowly saying, "My name is Eric, brother of Riya, who Luke has been harassing to marry him."

As he said this, Rosalie was first confused before recognition flashed in her eyes, and her face paled, "You..."

Seeing her reaction, Eric cupped her face and said with a sincere look in his eyes, "I didn’t do that to take revenge, and I was serious when I said I could help you. So, you don’t need to worry about it, understand?"

Rosalie’s body was trembling and tears had welled up in her eyes when she heard him say this and asked in a choking, but hurt and angry voice, "How can I believe you?!"

Eric stared at her and said, "Just look in my eyes, and if you see sincerity, believe me; if not, then do whatever you want to me."

Rosalie did as he said and saw his sincerity and a trace of concern for her, which made her heart skip a beat.

He was concerned for her? Apart from her daughter, no one had shown even a hint of concern for her thought all these years. And maybe because she had sex with him, she felt his concern more deeply.

Taking a breath, she said, "I’m listening."

Eric secretly sighed in relief and said, "I didn’t want to tell you my identity because I knew you would think I’m doing all this for revenge. However, I had no choice but to tell you because I wanted to ask you something. It’s very important, so answer me honestly, alright?"

"Okay." Rosalie nodded.

"That day, when I came to complain about Luke, along with your husband, daughter, and son, you also said those nasty things about my sister? Why?" He asked.

Rosalie stared into his eyes for a second before she exhaled deeply and said, "I know you know I can tell you want to forgive me. So, you may think I’m saying this because of that. But the truth is, Luke was becoming a pillar of our family, and I had no choice but to take his side. Deep down in my heart, I didn’t mean any of it."

Eric didn’t say anything in response. Instead, he took the clothes from her hands, wore them, and went to the living hall before sitting down.

Rosalie didn’t speak either and silently served him the food. After he was done eating, he relaxed into the chair.

Rosalie took the dirty dishes to the kitchen and returned after a while and stood in front of him, waiting for him to say something.

"Are you not going to eat?" Eric asked,

"I’m not hungry." Rosalie said, looking down.

Eric raised his brows, and after a while, he asked, "There is nothing else to eat, right?"

Rosalie didn’t raise her head, making him sigh.

He then changed the topic and said, "Let’s forget about what happened in the past. I will no longer blame you. Just be on your best behavior from now on and treat my mother and sister with respect."

"Huh?" Rosalie finally looked at him upon hearing this and asked, "What do you mean?"

Instead of answering her, he asked, "Have you thought about what you are going to do after the situation with the noble resolves? Continue living with your husband, who let Luke and Adam sell your daughter and kept quiet when Luke wanted to sell you too?"

Rosalie’s body shook at his words. Until now, she was sure her life was going to be over. So, she didn’t think about what she would do if she somehow survived.

"I don’t know what I’m going to do, but I’m sure I will no longer have any relation with my husband, Luke, and Adam if he is alive." She said after a while.

Eric nodded before asking again, "You think you can survive on your own?"

Rosalie didn’t answer, but she knew she wouldn’t be able to. After a moment, she took a deep breath and asked, "What do you want to say?" 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

"I want to hire you as my maid. You will take care of my housework and the things my mother and sister ask you to do. Also, you will be available to me whenever I want you." Eric said, looking into her eyes, "In exchange, you will have a place to stay, enough food to fill your belly, and money for your expenses, though it may not be much at the beginning."

Rosalie was silent for a few moments before she asked in a low voice, "You really think the situation with the noble will be resolved?"

"Yes." Eric nodded.

Rosalie visibly relaxed and then said, "I have no problem becoming your maid, but... are you sure you can afford it? I mean, your family is poor too."

"You need not worry about that." Eric shook his head. With him able to cultivate, he knew the days of poverty would soon be over.

"Okay. Then I agree. I will be your maid from this moment onwards." Rosalie said before bowing toward him, "Please tell me what your first order is for me. Sir Eric."

Eric looked at his system screen.
