Suppressing the Protagonist in the Start to Seize the Heroine-Chapter 258
Chapter 258: Amidst Joyful Banter
Jiang Ruoxi looked around and noticed that while the other girls maintained neutral expressions, there was a hint of amusement in their eyes. It was clear they all harbored similar thoughts.
She wanted to clarify her relationship with Su Lin, but bringing it up out of the blue might seem suspicious and defensive. Moreover, she was asking He Su for a favor. If she cleared the misunderstanding and He Su took offense, what then? frёewebηovel.cѳm
The thought alone overwhelmed Jiang Ruoxi. Meanwhile, Su Lin merely smiled faintly at Lin Xiaowan’s comment and continued to eat heartily. The atmosphere was light and friendly, as if they were long-time friends.
Seeing this, Su Lin felt immensely satisfied. This was his ultimate goal, to resolve the issues with Xiao Feiyu completely.
“Yanyan, how’s the supermarket expansion going? Any difficulties?” Xia Shiyu inquired, showing concern for their chain supermarket.
“You finally take interest in the supermarket,” Zhao Yanyan replied with relief. “We’ve expanded throughout the three provinces of Jiangnan and are planning to move north and south. However, we’re facing significant resistance.”
“The Ma family has already started setting up supermarkets in the south. Their speed is rapid, and they face no hurdles in the Pearl River Delta, their stronghold.”
“The three northern provinces are also a significant barrier. There are many powerful families, and the local customs are fierce. Hundreds of chain supermarkets are engaged in a price war there.”
“Just hearing about it shows how tough the situation in the north is,” Xia Shiyu commented. “Our Quan Le Guo venturing into the north might be suppressed by their joint efforts.”
Zhao Yanyan shook her head. “They are all fighting individually, and many of these powerful families are at odds. I think if we play our cards right in the north, we might benefit from their chaos.”
Su Lin nodded in agreement. “Yanyan, your thoughts align with mine. With the north in disarray, now is the perfect time for us to enter. Otherwise, by the time they settle their differences, it might be too late for us.”
“The only issue is that we haven’t found the right partners yet,” Zhao Yanyan frowned.
“This isn’t something we can rush,” Xia Shiyu said with a smile. “Wait until they are desperately fighting and need an external force to break the deadlock. Then, naturally, they will come to us. We just need to be ready.”
Su Lin agreed. “Xiaoyu’s right. It’s not wise to enter hastily. It’s much easier to break a deadlock when it’s already in place.”
“If only you guys were steering the ship,” Zhao Yanyan sighed. “Chen Yang is good at management but struggles with market expansion. His capabilities can’t compare to Xiaoyu or Xiaowan.”
“Don’t sell yourself short, Yanyan,” Su Lin reassured her. “I think you’re just as capable as Xiaowan and Xiaoyu.”
As Lin Xiaowan served Su Lin some food, she teased, “You always manage to treat everyone equally, Su Lin!”
“Cough, cough… Xiaowan, keep some dignity for me in front of everyone,” he chuckled.
Lin Xiaowan glanced at Jiang Ruoxi, who was nervously stirring her food, and Li Ziyu, who seemed preoccupied with her thoughts. Gently nudging Su Lin, she prompted him to take notice.
After Li Ziyu excused herself to the restroom, Su Lin found an opportunity to follow her. When she emerged, she found Su Lin washing his hands.
“Su Lin… you came out too.”
“I was waiting for you,” Su Lin said quietly.
“Waiting for me?”
Su Lin nodded. “Ziyu, you barely touched your food and looked worried. Tell me what’s on your mind.”
“You’re my girlfriend, not alone anymore. Whatever it is, you can tell me, and we’ll figure it out together,” Su Lin said, cutting her off.
Moved by his earnestness, Li Ziyu decided to confide in him, hoping for a more satisfactory resolution. She revealed that her father and grandfather had been kidnapped.
“When did this happen?” Su Lin frowned.
“I only received the news today.”
“Have you called the police?”
Li Ziyu nodded, then added, “I suspect it was orchestrated by Ma Junjie. He’s always been lawless, acting without regard. Few know about my father and grandfather retiring in Yangcheng, which a typical family wouldn’t discover. But if the Ma family is involved, it changes everything.”
“Yes, and considering no news has come from the police for so long, it’s likely their doing. Their objective is probably the mobile business.”
“This is a significant profit for us,” Li Ziyu sighed. “Just twenty years of operation in Donghai, and then the Li family could dominate the entire Southeast and Jiangnan regions. It’s no wonder the Ma family is desperate.”
“I’ve also heard that many of the Ma family’s factories in the Pearl River Delta have been shut down,” Su Lin added.
Looking at Li Ziyu, he asked, “You still have feelings for your father and grandfather, right? Do you want to save them?”
Li Ziyu shook her head. “I have no affection for them, but I can’t let the Ma family bully us this way. Plus, having my father and grandfather under their control gives them the power to manipulate public opinion. It’s a passive situation, so we need to rescue them.”
“What’s your plan?”
“We wait for Ma Junjie to come to us. He wouldn’t have gone to all this trouble just to have a good time. He’ll come to negotiate, but he’s bold to do so knowing I’m aligned with you, which means he must have something up his sleeve.”
“It’s probably Xiao Feiyu,” Su Lin chuckled.
“Xiao Feiyu?” Li Ziyu pondered, then nodded. “That makes sense. Despite being Mo City’s top young master, He isn’t as strong as the Ma family, which is unparalleled in the region, and he’s allied with the ghost doctor. That means they’re at least formidable.”
“Formidable?” Su Lin scoffed. “Ziyu, you really don’t know your man.”
Li Ziyu giggled, “I know you’re very strong. Extremely strong.”
“Of course,” Su Lin grinned. “That’s something Ziyu has experienced firsthand.”
“Stop it,” Li Ziyu playfully punched him, then hurried back to the private room, her steps slightly flustered.
