Chapter 1331: Chapter 5: The Elusive Girl (Part 1)

Dawn Star, the bridge.

Four crew members sat around the square table, each wearing an expression of fluctuating emotions. Captain Gongsun sat in a backlit position, with his fingers intertwined supporting his chin, his gaze slowly sweeping across the room, pausing on each face in turn.

"I’d like to confirm something with everyone." Gongsun Ce’s voice trembled slightly, "In this room, there are only me, Ling, Qiluo, and Alandia, making a total of four... along with Wawu, a large salamander... totaling five living beings, right?"

"No problem." Shiyu Ling nodded slowly, "It’s indeed just the five of us."

Shiyu Ling sat with her legs crossed on the sofa, Alandia flipped through her notebook across from her, Qiluo was playing a game, Wawu crawled around near the door, counting himself who hadn’t moved at all, there were definitely only five living beings in the room. Yet, something that defied common sense was happening now, in present tense...

"Then..." Gongsun Ce swallowed, "Since 0.5 seconds ago, the one bumping my chin with their head... who is it?!"

"It’s me, it’s me." Qin Qianbai said.

At that moment, everyone present noticed the anomaly. In order to preside over the meeting, Gongsun Ce, who had deliberately bent his body to project the demeanor of a leader... was actually holding a green-dressed, black-haired girl in his arms! She lifted her face slightly, even putting on a triumphant expression that was annoyingly smug!

"Found her, go!" Gongsun Ce instantly crossed his hands into an "X" shape, locking onto the girl in his arms like a seatbelt. "Got her!" Shiyu Ling leapt from her seat, aiming deftly at Qin Qianbai’s neck. This grasping skill was clearly honed over half a year by the frequent pet-keeping practice of lifting Wawu around the neck area. But the duo’s joint attack only grasped air; the girl, who was there a second ago, vanished without a trace, and Shiyu Ling’s attack struck Gongsun Ce’s chest, triggering a cry of pain: "Damn it, you scratched the wrong person!"

"This makes no sense..." Shiyu Ling scratched around Gongsun Ce, puzzled, "Where could she be hiding? Here? Here?"

"No way could she be hiding in Mr. Gongsun’s T-shirt!"

Alandia silently marked her notebook with an X after another, Qiluo cautiously patted around herself, announcing gloomily: "The fourth Qin Qianbai capture operation... failed..."

"You see, this is a smug expression, there is no way Ah Ce could catch me."

As she said that, Qin Qianbai was lying on Qiluo’s lap, blowing air at her stomach. The pink-haired girl unsurprisingly grasped at nothing, then grabbed a pillow from the sofa, shrieking: "I’ve had enough! Quick, think of a way to catch Qin Qianbai~~!"

Why had things developed to this point?

That would have to be from an hour ago...

One hour ago, the bridge.

The dwelling at 91 Dawson Street was hard-pressed to accommodate five crew members, not to mention it was Orianna’s home after all, so after returning to the Country, they all stayed on the Dawn Star. According to the plan, they would temporarily reside in the capital for about two weeks, until the ceremony of the group leader’s provisional authority transfer was officially completed, and then take the Dawn Knight to Cangdu for a short holiday.

At the moment, none seemed interested in discussing holiday plans, judging by the serious expressions of the four people and Captain Gongsun, who supported his chin with both hands, one could ascertain that a tense and serious meeting was about to start. Gongsun Ce’s glasses reflected an ominous light, and he said deeply: "I ask everyone... have you encountered anything strange recently?"

Everyone nodded in agreement.

"I’ve recently encountered a series of events that can only be described as incredible." Gongsun Ce said, "To be specific... when we were all having afternoon tea and chatting yesterday, everyone was present. But when I came back to my senses, the young lady had disappeared. Her tea cup still had steam rising from it, yet she herself had vanished..."

Gongsun Ce paused for a moment, struggling to speak, "I found it odd and went to search for her diligently, but she was nowhere in sight in even the slightest nook nearby. In a panic, I used telekinesis to search..."

"Wouldn’t it have been more effective to call?" Qiluo said.

Gongsun Ce waved his hand vigorously: "That’s not the point! The point is, I successfully found the young lady. She was actually, she was actually..."

Gongsun Ce trembled as he took off his glasses, using a great deal of effort to squeeze out the last sentence: "She was actually flying a kite at the outskirts of the capital alone for fun! As I watched her joyful figure running on the grass, I felt utterly pale, why oh why!"

"Although that is weird, is there a need to use a ghost story tone?" Qiluo replied, sweating.

Shiyu Ling and Alandia nodded silently, the lingering apprehension clearly resonating with them. Shiyu Ling’s face was somber: "Something weirder happened on my side. That was at 8:30 in the morning, after breakfast when I entered the kitchen, I found the dishes unwashed... But today was the young girl’s duty for chores! That girl would never slack off! Feeling odd, I went to find her, at which point the young girl was swaying in the corner pretending to be a desk lamp..."

"Pretending to be a desk lamp sounds more bizarre than not washing dishes though." Qiluo said.

"That erratic little girl wouldn’t surprise me if she claimed to be a toaster someday." Shiyu Ling waved her hand, "The point is! Do you know how she responded to me?"

Shiyu Ling stood in the corner, clasped her hands over her head, mimicking the desk lamp pose of Little Qian then, elevating her gaze by 45°, her voice ethereal and vacant: "Those dishes have yet to realize they’ve been washed."
