Superhumans of the Dome City-Chapter 1322 - 2: Yes, Acting Commander
Dong~ Dong~~
At 10 a.m., the seven great clock towers of Supibia, the capital, chimed in unison. The ancient and melodious bell sound resonated across the old city, rippling across the artificial lake in the courtyard. Knight Blana gazed through the window at the ripples, seeing his faint smile reflected in the glass.
Newcomers often find the capital’s clockbells noisy and jarring, but the long-time residents believe the chimes bring peace to the soul. Knight Alandia believes this is a prominent expression of homesickness. She says when people love a place, they unconsciously think everything there is good, just as the people of the Country cherish their culinary culture while the people of the Empire call it an insult to food. Blana thought there was much truth in this, but he also believed that many genuinely loved the sound of the bells, as it allows people to temporarily escape from their anxious lives, letting their spirits drift gently with the sound waves...
"Honestly, Blana, you’re already quite introverted; don’t smile at the window anymore." Akuya said, "It’s super creepy, gives me the chills. Like the evil secret in a horror movie."
"Am I?" Blana quickly adjusted his expression and returned to the serious world of work. Today, Akuya unusually wore her work uniform properly, apparently feeling the tension for the upcoming meeting, despite her usual easy-going demeanor. In contrast, Blana felt no pressure as he briskly walked to the meeting room at the end of the third floor, setting up teacups and materials for each attendee in advance.
This was probably the most crowded day in the Starlight meeting room in nearly two decades, with nine attendees such that they had to temporarily bring in two more chairs: six active Starlight Knights, two theoretically still on duty, and one newly appointed...
Acting Commander.

"Ladies and gentlemen, let us begin today’s meeting. It’s the first meeting convened by the Acting Commander, and I sincerely hope it will also be the last." Gongsun Ce said, "Firstly, for the first proposal, I sincerely suggest handing over the hosting rights of this meeting to Knight Alandia. What do my fellow colleagues think?"
Gongsun Ce sat at the head of the long table, wearing a full set of custom black suits today, with white gloves on his hands, a meticulously knotted red tie, and his hair styled by the Dawn Knight into a retro and friendly three-seven split. His glasses gleamed like car headlights. This solemn and elegant attire brought upon him a wave of suppressed laughter when he entered the meeting room, and Knight Sara almost laughed herself off the chair.
"I apologize, Acting Commander..."
Knight Gafri, calmly flipping through a thick manual, his tone rising subtly, causing the Acting Commander to feel an ominous premonition within his heart.
According to the supplement to Article 14 in Chapter 8 of the Knight Order’s internal disciplinary summary, "Gafri flipped to a position towards the middle of the manual to show everyone, "it is not only a basic etiquette but also an unshirkable responsibility, effectively protecting the vice commander or other selfless civil servants who silently contribute to the Country from being accused of ’monopolizing power’."
Gongsun Ce retreated in the face of the vice commander’s humble smile, "Thank you, Knight Gafri, I fully understand. So let’s conclude today’s necessary business at lightning speed..." He glanced at the document stack almost as thick as half a dictionary, "Sorry, this document is a bit convoluted. Could any knight summarize it for me?"
In theory, the affairs within the Knight Order should not involve him as the Acting Commander. After all, nominally is nominal, and everyone is quite clear about the actual situation. However, due to a series of events, some significant matters indeed required the commander’s personal decision, forcing Gongsun Ce to sit reluctantly at this table.
He cast a pleading glance at the knights on either side of the long table. To his right sat Knight Gafri, followed by Rakael, Yuliy, and Blana; on his left were his dear Dawn Knight Alandia, followed by Sara (in humanoid form), Akuya, and Orianna. Gongsun Commander looked around feeling immense pressure, as if he was not hosting a meeting but a petty thief standing at the defendant’s stand listening to the jury’s verdict from both sides.
Rakael rose gallantly, firing the first salvo in grilling the commander, "The first major issue concerns you, Knight Gongsun. Now, legally, you hold the first seat in the Starlight meeting, are the commander of the Morton Royal Knights, and the master of the national treasure Holy Fire Armor and Final Sword. However, unfortunately, in international perspectives, you are still a university student of the Sky City..."
"And a person of highest danger as a Dragon Species," Yuliy added, "Simply put, the Country’s strongest armed force is now aggregated in you, a foreigner."
Gongsun Ce rubbed his forehead, "I’ll resign right after this meeting—"
"Before that, Commander," Alandia glanced at him, "it’s customary to consult the knights for the plans they prepared for you."
Gongsun Ce shivered, it was the first time in his life he heard the Dawn Knight address him as "you," and for a moment, he wished to hide under the table. He wiped his cold sweat vigorously, "What does the Country’s official have in mind?" 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
All the knights except Alandia quickly exchanged a glance, in which Gongsun Ce saw the Cyber Ghost Music Club in the fast-food restaurant. Typically, when discussing the "who’s turn to pay today" arduous task, they would engage in a piercing exchange of sights, compelling each other to back down with resolute will and merciless exposure of secrets. And in this round of eye-duel, good-natured Orianna unfortunately lost, as she coughed five times before picking up the materials in her hand.
