Superhumans of the Dome City-Chapter 1290 - 135: The Origin of Eternity
There is no magic in this world.
There are no miracles in this world.
The vast majority of theories have been proven, and society has reached stability under highly advanced technology. The term ’life pressure’ is only recorded in history books, and humans are free to travel to planets beyond their home star. The environment, which was once damaged during rapid development, has been restored under the planetary transformation projects. Humans still age and die, but biotechnology allows life to enjoy prolonged time. Conflicts still exist in society, but the abundance of materials enables everyone to have at least the minimum ability to realize personal ideals.
She was born into such a blissful world.
Like everyone else in the world, she held a disdainful attitude toward magic and miracles. The idealist worldview had long been proven to be the philosophers’ fantasy, and scholars had decoded every secret that composes the world. She idolized the scientists who completed the grand unification theory from a young age, admired their spirit, respected their great achievements, and followed her curiosity to embark on the path of understanding the world.
Precisely because the "known" is so vast, there is an interest in more "unknown" beyond the boundaries. She wanted to see the world beyond the Milky Way, wanted to explore the way life persists after death, wanted to see the world at its most fundamental level...her curiosity was almost endless, and for this, she felt infinite gratitude for her birth.
Being born in such a world is truly fortunate. I have nearly infinite resources and such long-lasting time, I can realize my dreams!
With such sentiments and near-monstrosity talent, she stepped into the academic world she loved. However, after only a mere 3 planetary rotations, she had to stop.
Reality was entirely different from her imagination.
The highly developed technology and theories meant that further breakthroughs required immense resources and time. The research institution she was in couldn’t support her needs, but the most troublesome problem lay elsewhere.
Hidden beneath the surface of prosperity was substantial development stagnation.
There was no drive to move forward, no burning curiosity, and scholars in reality were always doing patchwork around the edges, arguing over definitions, and engaging in semantic games. Even war, the primal driving force, no longer existed; weapons became exclusive concepts in games, and those who controlled resources couldn’t harm each other. Humanity had achieved peace some five hundred planetary revolutions ago. The world had failed to achieve grand unity, and civilization was at an impasse within its cradle. Everyone focused on their pursuits, and people with grand ideals were almost nonexistent; her ideals received no support at all.
If it were a hero with foresight from the old era, they might come up with ideas like finding like-minded individuals or even unifying the world. But she was a person born in the new era, she had absolute confidence in her intellect and a clear understanding of the situation. Therefore, she quickly reached a conclusion considered extraordinary by future generations:
Relying on herself was enough.
Since she couldn’t get support from others, she would realize her dream on her own. Since there weren’t enough resources, she would develop new technology to make up for it. And indeed, she was an unprecedented genius, and by maximizing the efficiency of her time and energy, she achieved unimaginable breakthroughs. With the power of just one person, she drove the entire society forward.
She realized faster-than-light travel to explore all celestial bodies in her galaxy.
She achieved galaxy cluster exploration through folded jump technology.
She achieved exploration of the entire observable universe with information universe technology.
Then, she stopped at the boundary of the unknown universe.
This time, it wasn’t her intellect or resources that hindered her, but another fatal issue. Human lifespan is limited, yet the unknown and the universe are infinite. While she could use her intellect and talent to amplify a single resource to a hundred million times effect, it ultimately consumed a finite "1." Her life couldn’t be consumed endlessly, and before everything was deciphered, she was bound to collapse from her own exhaustion.
Even turning "1" into "ten billion," "hundred billion," or "trillion," in the face of "infinity," it would all become a meaningless "0." In other words, she was unable to explore the entire world. This was the ultimate limit that even her proud wisdom couldn’t cross.
Once again, she fell into contemplation, retreating from the exploration of the observable universe boundaries to her home planet, walking alone among the crowd. The atmosphere of the home planet had changed completely, with people cheering her name, the ultra-tech revolution sparked by her reigniting humanity’s enterprising spirit, propelling civilization forward once more. But she no longer cared about these; now, her only concern was finding a way to break through the limits.
What limited her was lifespan, resources, and time. An individual would age and eventually die with life activities, and the universe would also meet its demise in heat death; these are the innate rules of the world. All technology is built upon this "rule" of utilizing natural laws, like all experiences of fish in an aquarium relying on the rules within the "aquarium" system.
However, who set these rules?
Existing theories have proved that there is no God in the world, no one outside the aquarium to feed the fish. Thus, natural laws are merely "rules that exist inherently." If she could modify the rules of the world...
