Chapter 553 -547: Immortals Fighting

Both men were utterly speechless. Of course, we knew you initiated it, even though we aren’t sure why you did. But we do have a guess that they probably ticked you off. The issue here though, is that being this direct isn’t helping us come up with an excuse to clear your name out of this incident.

After all, the victim is a foreigner. Even if Flame Nation isn’t as dependent on foreign investors as it was two or three decades ago, when we almost worshiped them as deities, this matter could still turn into a diplomatic incident. As the saying goes, there is no such thing as a minor event when it potentially affects the whole nation.

“Thank you, gentlemen. Let’s leave this place. There are too many spectators,” Finn Lewis said with a smile.

The two men had no objections. After all, they were in one of the busiest pedestrian streets in the capital. In such a short time, the crowd of onlookers had almost blocked the whole street. If they didn’t leave soon, who knew what kind of news stories would break the next day.

Such a scene could not be stopped, even if the media chose not to cover it. Simply the videos and photos uploaded by netizens alone would spread the news far and wide.

As Finn Lewis and the two men were leaving, a middle-aged police officer was scolding the lead policeman. Mostly it was about how serious this incident was and the potential penalties involved. This police officer was left feeling helpless. These ‘gods’ were fighting, and as a result, ordinary folks like them were the ones who suffered. Caught between the two sides, how could he resolve this?

However, his superior wasn’t interested in his explanations. Seeing Finn Lewis exit, he instantly left a command and approached Finn Lewis. But before Finn could say anything, one of the two men following him went up to the middle-aged police officer, whispered a few words to him, and then they quickly walked away.

A police car had already driven into the pedestrian street. After they got into the car, the middle-aged officer turned to Finn Lewis and said: “Mr. Lewis, sorry about all this. My name is James Zeit, the local chief inspector. Just call me James.”

“Inspector James, thanks for your help.” Finn Lewis stretched out his hand for a handshake. “None of this has anything to do with you guys. I started it. And about the cop you were just scolding, don’t punish him. It’s not their fault, they couldn’t have known what was going to happen. Don’t punish them for it. If anyone blames them, I will explain.”

“Alright then. That young one is lucky, I suppose. Thank you, Mr. Lewis for your understanding,” James quickly responded with a smile.

“Alright, Inspector James. Could you guide us out of here? As for those people who were sent to the hospital, don’t concern yourselves with them. If they want to complain to authorities in Belmare Country, let them come find me. If they don’t complain, then consider this as if nothing happened. Don’t interfere,” Finn Lewis said calmly.

James and the other two men exchanged a glance before hesitantly replying, “That seems inappropriate. After all, they were attacked in our country.”

“There’s nothing inappropriate about it” Finn Lewis interrupted James, “don’t overthink this. Do as I say. If Yoshikazu, the guy those bodyguards were protecting, seeks the Belmare government’s help to protest or something, let the Belmare embassy come to me. If they don’t contact the embassy, just act as if you never witnessed today’s incident. Don’t reach out for condolences or anything, just act as if nothing happened. Got it?”

If this blows up, he wouldn’t be able to cover it up. “Don’t worry, if they question it, I will explain for you. If necessary, I can contact the securities right now.” Finn Lewis calmly stated, understanding that this was beyond the power of a person like James to handle.

If it had been an ordinary person from Belmare, it would’ve been a different story. But it wasn’t an ordinary person who was involved. The Trinity Corporation holds massive influence over Belmare’s authorities. In fact, they could potentially influence the official stance of Belmare’s government. For matters involving such individuals, even higher authorities would have to consider carefully. James was not in a position to manage such issues.

However, James broke out in cold sweat upon hearing Finn’s words. Who the hell were these people? He had initially felt that the policeman was treated unjustly. But now, even his position as Chief Inspector was at stake. ‘Just my luck’, he thought. How unfortunate to play a part in this chaos due to ‘gods’ fighting.

With a sigh of despair, James finally gritted his teeth and decided, “Alright then, we’ll handle it this way. Please, Mr. Lewis, explain this to them if need be.”

“Don’t worry, I won’t let such a matter related to me go unchecked. Besides, I believe these two gentlemen with me will report the whole incident back accurately,” Finn assured.

“I have to thank you in advance, Mr. Lewis,” said James as he glanced at the two men, but he didn’t bother to acknowledge them. He knew better than to casually interact with such people.

“It’s settled then. I’ll get going now,” said Finn, nodding.

Of course, James had no objections. He arranged for his men to escort Finn out of the area. A few blocks away, Finn asked them to stop the car and he got out. As he strolled along, he couldn’t help but wonder why the leader of the Trinity Corporation harbored such hatred toward him. After all, the two parties had no direct conflict or contact with each other. Why would Yoshikazu harbor such animosity towards him?

The opposing party wouldn’t have spoken so openly if they had known Finn Lewis was nearby. They spoke privately, which meant this was a genuine expression of their feelings. ‘Damn it, what did I do to offend them?’ he wondered.

“Olivia, do we have any conflict of interest with the Trinity Corporation?” Finn decided to ask Olivia Thatcher. There were some matters in the company that he didn’t quite understand. Those were normally handled by Jay Sommer and some intelligent robots.

“We have no business associations with the Trinity Corporation. However, according to my calculations, they may have suffered losses in the futures market,” Olivia responded.

“The futures market?” Finn was taken aback.freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
