Super Rich by Doing as You Please-Chapter 52: Gotta Say, He’s Handsome and Pretty Honest
In the dining room.
Su Mu looked at her best friend suspiciously and asked tentatively, "You don’t have feelings for Xu Yun, do you?"
"Be honest."
Li Jinshu hesitated for a moment. Munching on a piece of bread, she said, "He really is my ideal type. Handsome, rich, and with a good personality. He could save me twenty years of struggle."
"So you really like him?"
Li Jinshu replied casually, "Even if I do like him, it’s not like he’d want me. Marrying into a rich family isn’t that easy."
"True."
Su Mu thought about the ambiguous nature of her own relationship with Xu Yun, and his entanglement with Ning Qian. After some careful consideration, she decided to persuade her best friend to give up.
She said, "Jinshu, Xu Yun might be great, but he’s not a faithful person. If you get involved with him, you’ll probably get hurt."
"I know, I was just talking."
Li Jinshu smiled. "Don’t worry, Susu. I’m not going to chase after Xu Yun and try to steal your man."
"Who said I was fighting you for him?"
Su Mu couldn’t help but laugh. "Anyone who wants him can have him. If she can actually capture his heart, I’ll admit she’s got skill."
"..." Li Jinshu was speechless.
Su Mu finished her breakfast, left her own keys for Li Jinshu, and took Xu Yun’s car keys.
Then, she drove Xu Yun’s 911 toward the office.
Left alone in the house, Li Jinshu ate her breakfast, her heart a tangled mess.
After this morning’s probing conversation, she was more certain than ever that Susu’s feelings for Xu Yun weren’t just those of a friend.
’She must be starting to fall for him.’
Even though she wouldn’t admit it, they were best friends. They knew each other inside and out.
’But my current relationship with Xu Yun... ’
’I clearly told myself it was just that one time at the bar and that I’d ignore him from now on, but then last night... we did it again.’
’Here, in this house, while Su Mu was sleeping in the next room.’
’I’m such a rotten friend!’
’No, I have to control myself. There can’t be a next time.’
Li Jinshu warned herself, ’Once is a mistake, twice is a pattern. There won’t be a third time. No matter what Xu Yun says from now on, I absolutely cannot give in to him again.’
As she thought of this, she suddenly remembered that she hadn’t taken any emergency precautions.
She quickly ran back to her room, found the pill in her bag, and only felt relieved after taking one.
She knew taking this stuff wasn’t good for her body, but there was no other choice. They didn’t have anything at home, so this would have to do for now.
...
Su Mu was already beautiful and carried herself with elegance. Driving a convertible 911 down the street, she turned far more heads than Xu Yun ever did.
If Xu Yun saw this, he’d probably cry his eyes out.
It wasn’t that Su Mu wanted to show off like one of those girls who rent cars to look cool; she had simply never experienced what it was like to drive a convertible sports car, so she decided to try it today.
It felt good. At the very least, seeing the envious looks from everyone easily satisfied a woman’s vanity.
Su Mu also came to understand a certain social phenomenon.
No wonder so many women would rather be fucked to tears in a sports car than smile on the back of an electric scooter.
She had been lucky enough to never be short on money growing up, belonging to that group of people who, while not at the very top, were far better off than most.
Therefore, she couldn’t quite empathize with that mentality.
Before entering the company building’s garage, Su Mu raised the convertible’s roof to avoid suspicion, not wanting to be seen by anyone she knew.
After finding a parking spot close to the elevator, she had just gotten out and closed the door when she ran right into her new colleague, Song Xiaowei.
Today, she had hitched a "convenient" ride from a male colleague at the company.
Song Xiaowei looked at Su Mu and greeted her with an enthusiastic smile, "Manager Su, good morning."
"Mm, good morning." Su Mu nodded with a smile and headed for the elevator.
The male colleague and Song Xiaowei chose not to take the elevator with Su Mu, opting to wait for the next one instead.
Most office workers were like this, unwilling to share an elevator with a superior. It was the same principle as students not wanting to run into their teachers at school.
The male colleague stared at the Porsche 911, his eyes filled with envy. "Looks like Manager Su got a new car again. It’s beautiful."
It wasn’t surprising that no one knew the car actually belonged to Xu Yun.
After all, he rarely left work at the same time as everyone else these days.
He either left early or stayed late.
And the only person who knew the car was his, Manager Li, certainly wasn’t going to go around the office advertising the fact for him.
’So the car really does belong to Manager Su,’ Song Xiaowei thought.
’Not that Xu Yun guy.’
’I have to admit, for a handsome guy, he seems pretty down-to-earth.’
’At least he’s not materialistic.’
Song Xiaowei asked curiously, "Is Manager Su’s family really rich?"
"No."
Faced with the pretty girl’s question, the male colleague lowered his voice. "I’ll tell you, but don’t you dare tell anyone else."
"Okay."
"Manager Su definitely can’t afford a car like that on her salary."
The colleague replied, "I heard from others that Manager Su is actually our boss’s mistress. She’s being kept by him."
"..." Song Xiaowei was speechless.
When Su Mu got to her department, she glanced around and was unsurprised to find that Xu Yun was late again.
She had no choice but to shove the car keys into her pocket and head back to her own office.
Meanwhile, Song Xiaowei, being an intern, had nothing to do on her first day. Today, however, she seemed rather busy.
And the reason for all of it was Xu Yun.
Because he once again hadn’t assigned her any tasks, she had no idea what to do at the company and was completely idle.
A woman’s jealousy can be a powerful thing.
Because her good looks had garnered enthusiastic attention from many of the single men in the office, some of the other female colleagues were feeling resentful.
So, seeing that she had nothing to do, the other female colleagues started ordering her around to do miscellaneous office chores.
Things like photocopying documents, fetching packages, delivering items, or helping to format a spreadsheet.
It was common for veteran employees to enjoy pawning their own tasks off on newcomers.
After all, that’s how they had been treated when they were new.
At first, Song Xiaowei went along with it, figuring they were all colleagues and she might as well help out since she had nothing else to do.
But it was one thing after another, and everyone was ordering her around.
Song Xiaowei reluctantly put up with it for a while, but she finally couldn’t take it anymore.
She marched right up to Su Mu’s office and knocked on the door.
"Manager Su, I need to talk to you about something."
Su Mu looked up at the newly hired young woman and asked, "What is it?"
"Can I be assigned to a different mentor?"
Song Xiaowei said with dissatisfaction, "I was told I was hired to be a host-in-training, but right now I’m just doing miscellaneous chores. I haven’t been assigned to a single event."
"Alright, I understand."
Su Mu asked, "Is there anything else?"
"No, that’s all."
Su Mu said, "You can go back out then. When Xu Yun gets here, tell him to come see me. I’ll ask him about the situation."
"Okay, thank you, Manager Su."
