Super Gene Ⅱ: Evolution-Chapter 780: The Young Man in the Screening Room
The next morning, the deputy head of the envoy delegation and several experts responsible for artifact authentication prepared to go and authenticate the Celestial Divine Statue under the escort of the Immortals.
Seeing Lin Shen coming over, deputy head Chi 9 couldn’t help but slightly frown.
Although Lin Shen was just a name on the list, having been in the Diman Tribe for two days, they had almost never seen Lin Shen, who didn’t even attend the meetings of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the delegation. This Lin Shen was really going too far.
The others also didn’t show Lin Shen any good expressions, ignoring him as if he was thin air.
Lin Shen didn’t mind; he brought Ouyang Yudou and a few others, following the officials from the Diman Tribe’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Imperial Capital Museum, where the Celestial Divine Statue was stored.
However, once they reached the Imperial Capital Museum, only Lin Shen, Chi 9, and a few experts were allowed to enter. Even those responsible for escorting the Immortals could only wait outside.
The list had already been determined, and it was not something just anyone could participate in.
Actually, Lin Shen didn’t even want to go in; he’d rather rest in the lobby, and if he could choose, he’d prefer to wait there.
The group, led by the staff, passed through multiple doors and finally arrived at the hall where the Celestial Divine Statue was stored.
Lin Shen looked at the Celestial Divine Statue inside an energy shield; the thing didn’t seem to have anything special about it.
It looked like a white stone statue, depicting an angel figure with wings spread, hands joined in prayer, and eyes closed in devotion.
If he hadn’t known beforehand that this was the Celestial Divine Statue, it would seem like just an ordinary statue to anyone.
Although protected by an energy shield, in each corner of the room stood a fully armed guard.
The Diman Tribe’s staff and appraisers discussed things among themselves, and Chi Jiu occasionally said something to the staff. Only Lin Shen, the leader, was idle, yawning on the side.
Lin Shen originally thought that the authentication would be brief and soon over; to his surprise, they hadn’t even opened the shield yet and were already discussing the Celestial Divine Statue for almost an hour.

Bored, Lin Shen walked over to a bench against the wall and sat down.
Chi Jiu frowned at him but didn’t say anything.
The whole authentication process was extremely complicated, and it was clear the Diman Tribe would not let them touch the Celestial Divine Statue casually. Chi Jiu and his party were having a painful time negotiating, but they had to patiently deal with the other party.
This hall was connected to the adjacent one, and Lin Shen remembered passing by there and seeing some collections. Sitting there feeling utterly bored, he decided to stand up and take a look in the hall next door.
The hall was hung with quite a few portraits, which Lin Shen looked over for a while, realizing the person in the portraits should all be the same, likely an emperor from the Diman Tribe.
After looking for a while and finding it somewhat boring, Lin Shen saw that the door to another hall was ajar, so he walked over.
After entering, he discovered that it was a small projection hall, currently showing a holographic projection.
In the entire hall, there was just one young person from the Diman Tribe sitting there watching the projection.
"What movie is this? It looks quite interesting," Lin Shen asked, sitting next to the Diman Tribe’s young person.

The young man didn’t pay him any attention, just kept watching the movie on his own.
Seeing that he was being ignored, Lin Shen didn’t bother him anymore. It was indeed a bit impolite to disturb someone so engrossed in a movie.
Lin Shen shifted to a seat on the side, without disturbing the other person, and began watching. It was more interesting than watching them authenticate.
The film was quite interesting, even though Lin Shen started watching in the middle, he didn’t find it boring.
The content seemed to be telling a story similar to that of "Butterfly Lovers," but the protagonists were a young man and woman from the Diman Tribe.
The man was handsome, and the woman was beautiful. When Lin Shen was watching, they were performing a scene where they studied together in an academy, practicing swordsmanship with each other.
The man was unaware that the woman was cross-dressing. Both of them possessed extremely high talent and neither wanted to yield to the other.
Eventually, they went from competing against each other to slowly admiring one another, and later the woman fell in love with the man. The man ultimately discovered the truth about her cross-dressing, and their relationship developed into mutual affection.
The two perfected a combination sword technique together, and the way they practiced it was full of romantic flair.
As Lin Shen watched, he suddenly felt something was amiss. He turned to look at the young man next to him, then at the male protagonist in the film, and realized that the man beside him was actually the actor playing the male lead.
"Watching a film you starred in, I wonder what that feels like," thought Lin Shen.
The young man paid no attention to Lin Shen and watched the movie intently.
Ever since Lin Shen realized that he was the lead actor, he would occasionally steal glances at him. When the film reached the part where the man and woman were torn apart by their families, Lin Shen saw the young man’s eyes brimming with tears, as if they were about to fall.
Lin Shen was somewhat speechless; he didn’t find it that moving, yet this man was moved to such an extent by his own performance.
The ending of the film was different from the story Lin Shen knew. The protagonists were separated in the end, the woman being forced by her family to marry someone else, and the man compelled to leave without a trace of his whereabouts.
As the film ended, the young man seemed to snap back to reality. Suddenly noticing Lin Shen next to him, he was startled.
"Who are you? How come you’re here?" the man asked, sizing up Lin Shen.
"Is this for real? He’s so engrossed in the movie he didn’t even notice me?" Lin Shen responded, "I just saw the door open, so I came in to watch for a while. I even spoke to you just now, but you were too focused on the movie to pay attention."
"Movie?" The young man was slightly taken aback, he studied Lin Shen carefully, then realized, "You’re Lin Shen, right, the leader of the Celestial envoy delegation?"
"That’s me. How should I address you?" Lin Shen breathed a sigh of relief now that the other person recognized him.
"Just call me Keke. I work here. Don’t tell anyone you saw me here. Sneaking in to watch a movie during work hours could get me in trouble," said the young man.
"Same here, I also sneaked out during work hours. I’ll keep your secret if you keep mine," Lin Shen said with a smile.
"Right, you should be appraising the Divine Statue of the Celestial now, right? How come you’re here?" Keke asked, puzzled.
"Don’t you know? My role as leader is just a title. They don’t really need me, I make no difference," Lin Shen said languidly.
This wasn’t a secret; the Diman Tribe was well aware and their interactions with the envoy chiefly involved Chi Jiu. Nobody was looking for Lin Shen.
Keke seemed to resonate deeply with what he heard and sighed, "Then you must feel quite frustrated."
"You’re telling me. I’m supposed to be the leader, and those guys don’t even take me seriously. Isn’t that infuriating?" Lin Shen said offhandedly.
He was just chatting with Keke, though if he were really asked to take charge of things, he wouldn’t want to.
To Lin Shen’s surprise, Keke was indignant on Lin Shen’s behalf, saying earnestly, "You’re right, they are indeed too rude."
The two chatted for a while, finding more and more common ground. The young man had clearly experienced ostracism too, understood Lin Shen’s situation well, and became even more impassioned than Lin Shen himself at one point.
