Chapter 88: When two kings plan.

Back at Rambosa City.

The Duke, Eloit Von Lancer, was seated at his writing table, his feet constantly tapping against the floor while he glanced around nervously and angrily.

There was no other person in the room with him, and yet, he could not help but constantly hear the voice of Sandra echoing in his mind as she reported the horrible news to him.

All four hundred of his elite men that he had sent to the Jaun land had been slaughtered, with only a few dozen returning alive.

And if that wasn’t bad enough, his best warrior, Sir X, was dead as well. This also meant the loss of his Second-Grade Artifact, the Sword of Ladrona.

"Dammit!!!"

Eliot slammed his hand on the table, the force rattling the inkwells.

Before he got trapped inside the game like everyone else, he used to be a high-ranking manager of a massive corporation. Because of that background, the character he chose inside the game was one that ruled a large territory—the Duke of House Lancer.

Because of the great power he held, he decided to take matters into his own hands to challenge the Shadow of Victims by sending his most powerful men to do the task, three of whom were Players like him.

The other Dukes were utterly disappointed when they heard he failed, especially after all the bragging he had been doing about his men destroying dungeon after dungeon.

And now...

"Just what kind of plot armor does that damn Dungeon Boss have?!"

He swept the entire stack of books on his table to the ground in a fit of rage, panting heavily at the sight of the disaster.

The more he thought about it, the less sense it made.

According to how Sandra described it, the Shadow of Victims didn’t even show himself. He merely sent his mobs to take care of the problem, and none of them were less than Level 300.

That was basically the level cap for most Players in the current meta; to go any further, one would need to do far more than what the game allowed.

For mere mobs to be that strong was unheard of.

"Well, it doesn’t matter. I’ll end it all myself." A grin spread across his face, replacing the angered look he had a moment ago.

Glancing to the side, he looked at the papers scattered on the table. They were messages from the other four Dukes in the kingdom, agreeing to lend their Guardians to him for a day.

After his loss, while they mocked him, they still felt threatened by the outcome. After all, if the Shadow of Victims didn’t die, he would continue to be a plague on their society.

As such, in order to help Duke Eliot and for their own personal gain, they each decided to send their Dragons.

Four Dragons in total, to face the Shadow of Victims in battle.

A Dragon was considered a High-Level Monster, closest to Calamities and even some Gods. Dragons were usually born under the pact of a Royal Family, bearing their sigil to signal their birthright.

They were the ultimate weapons, used in wars against other kingdoms to display absolute dominance.

Against four Dragons, no matter how strong the dungeon was, Eloit was sure the entire Jaun land was done for.

Even now, he had already sent the Dragons there. For all he knew, they could have arrived at their destination and currently be shredding the Shadow of Victims to pieces.

The only reason Eliot was so frustrated was the fact he had to resort to using his trump card in order to take care of a silly virus.

In any case, he could lift his mind from it and focus on the next task.

He glanced at another paper on his desk.

"How did those idiots fail to kill Aron...? Is this a joke?"

{Jaun Land: The Nameless Dungeon}

After the war that happened between the monsters in Jaun land and the human army, many of the monsters who had been revived from their death stayed on the First Floor of the Nameless Dungeon, where they lived in the city of Ethiopia as regular citizens.

The Dungeon Bosses did think of going back outside and rebuilding their dungeons, but as new servants of Kai Greyhat, they knew not to act without his permission.

And seeing as he had not woken up from his slumber until recently, all they could do was wait.

Many of them had already gotten used to the dungeon, with some of the goblins and other mobs taking hold of the Seventh Floor and turning it into a sparring ground.

Since the Seventh Floor was filled with sand and rocks, it was the best place they could fight without disturbing the other residents.

In other words, the ecosystem in the dungeon was evolving at a faster rate as everyone bonded.

Then, he appeared before them at Ethiopia City.

Kai Greyhat, the Lord of the Nameless Dungeon.

He stood right at the forefront of the upper balcony, where he could get a good view of the entire place.

The location was quite high, meaning even though he could see them walking around the city, eating, laughing, and living, none of them could see him.

Right beside Kai were Lyra and Carlotta, their presence forming a guard as they flanked him on both sides.

"My Lord, do you intend to say hello to these people? If that is the case, I can call them forth and have them all gather here as soon as possible," Lyra spoke, leaning forward to gauge Kai’s expression.

In response to her offer, Kai raised his hand slightly.

"That won’t be necessary. As much as I want to see my new subordinates, I would rather they enjoy their time than put the attention on me."

"You are as kind as always, my Lord. Truly, your benevolence holds no bounds," Carlotta smiled as she bowed her head.

"Please, Carlotta, you flatter me." 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

Kai faced the front entirely, watching the people move around freely.

’A part of me feels glad they are having fun. Especially since I know many of them could have died permanently from this. I doubt I can revive any more souls before collapsing again; the cooldown is going to take forever.’

He sighed internally.

’On the plus side, now that I take a look at the monsters I named before I fell unconscious, they look nothing like they did before. Did they evolve?’

At the far end of the city, he could see Razar, formerly known as the Goblin King. His form was vastly different from what it once was.

He had turned from a gigantic, grotesque goblin boss into a slim, muscular warrior with a face and build that could almost be mistaken for a human.

The same went for the Serpent King, Death, who was not too far away. He looked human, but his "hair" was a mass of small, writhing snakes.

The Ghost Specter, also known as Void, was by far the most shocking. She took on a beautiful, ethereal form, her body glowing white with a veil covering her face.

Unlike her previous floating ball form, she looked like a high-tier spirit.

The rest of the Dungeon Bosses were not present in his line of sight, but Kai was certain they too must have changed.

’This is good.’ Kai had a smile on his face, staring into the distance. ’Far more than I expected, but who am I to complain? Once I have gotten rid of the Duke, I’ll start doing some renovations.’

Kai turned around to face the two women.

"Let us head back to the Throne Room. I would like to have a discussion."

...

The next moment, Kai was seated on the throne.

Right on top of his lap sat Fanny. She had been in the room before Kai arrived and seemed so adamant about sitting on his thighs that Kai ended up giving her the pleasure of doing so.

Of course, this was happening right under the watchful eyes of Lyra and Carlotta. The jealous looks on their faces were enough to make criminals shiver with fear.

Then came Kai’s voice, cutting through the tension.

"The Duke will die soon," he announced calmly.

This immediately caused them both to adopt serious expressions.

"Because I said this, it shall be so. However, that is not the main cause for concern. Once the Duke is dead, it is very likely the Count will resume his duties now that the Duke is out of his way."

Kai leaned back against the throne, stroking Fanny’s hair absently as he schemed.

"For starters, I do not wish to take Rambosa for myself yet. Instead, I would like to turn the Jaun Land into a city, housing monsters from all over the continent until eventually, we can be known as a nation.

"At the same time, we need the Human Nation on our side to legitimize us. Prepare yourselves, as you both will be negotiating for the Nameless Dungeon very soon."
