Chapter 49: The pillars have arrived.

One week later.

News of the Nameless Dungeon had already spread throughout the entire city and potentially the entire Kingdom of Traona.

After the White Light Party arrived at the Guild House, reporting the situation and how the entire Red Player team was wiped out by the virus, a Boss named the Shadow of Victims—people now knew better than to underestimate the place.

Because of this, many players who were weak from the start gave up on the idea of ever killing the Shadow of Victims.

Instead, they decided to live out their time in the game following the role of the character they had chosen, since more of the game’s lore was already integrated into reality to begin with.

For example, a character whose lore was the Forgotten Prince of an Empire could easily return home, and the game would register it as such.

The child of a blacksmith would remain the child of a blacksmith.

It only made it easier since the role-playing aspect had always been an essential part of the game.

Of course, this did not apply to everyone.

There were some people who were overwhelmed by the situation and chose to run away from everything.

It did not help that reports of multiple people claiming to come from another world ran rampant, only for it to be shut down by the World Leaders as a mind manipulation gone wrong from a Demon King.

They claimed it was the side effect of a powerful spell. The players knew it was a lie, or at least, most of them did.

In any case, the difference between NPCs and Players had blurred significantly, and the conviction or goals most people had no longer mattered.

Some wanted to run from everything and start life anew.

Some wanted the glory of being the one to finally put an end to the Virus.

And many wanted nothing more than to remain in the game as it was, accepting their new reality.

...

Meanwhile, back at the Nameless Dungeon, things had continued to grow just as Kai himself wanted.

Right before him were his trusted summons, the rulers of the floors that sustained his very dungeon.

Lyra, the Abyssal Empress, Ruler of the First Floor.

Carlotta, the Witch of Darkness, Ruler of the Second Floor.

The rest of the floor leaders, Azeal, Hamr, and Teraim, were each still busy on their floors, and Kai felt it was unnecessary to call them for the task at hand.

"I would be adding more Pillars to the floors," Kai announced to the two. "These summons will be there to fill up the floors that have no leader."

Lyra and Carlotta both looked unmoved by it, almost as though they were already expecting him to do exactly that.

So far, every time players stepped onto the First Floor, they were almost always immediately wiped out, with not a single person being able to run away.

Of course, there were times where the players who seemed stronger would manage to roam to the Sixth Floor, only to get killed or kidnapped by Azeal.

After all, the prison was only one floor above, where Teraim, the leader of the Fifth Floor, ruled.

The rest of the floors were basically untouched.

"What would you have them do on the floors?" Carlotta asked. "Forgive my ignorance, but it is quite hard for outsiders to get past the First Floor to begin with."

"Carlotta. You misunderstand me." Kai quickly gave his response to her.

The sudden realization on Carlotta’s face was evident. It seemed like she wanted to apologize, but she was immediately cut off by Kai’s next words.

"These floors are not for players. But for you, my summons, to have a place where you can exert your strength and authority."

Kai held a serious look on his face.

’Yes. So far, from what I have noticed, each floor that has a Boss is capable of creating monsters linked to that Boss. Hamr often comes with a list of new Skeleton Monsters joining the ranks. Same with Azeal and his Demon Beasts. The more Floor Bosses I have, the greater the army.’

Last he checked, the same thing applied to the two of them as well.

Carlotta’s floor sometimes birthed Caster-type monsters, and as for Lyra, her monsters were more akin to Devils, though she had the lowest amount of monsters created, with a measly five.

All five answered directly to her.

After hearing what their Master had to say, every question they had prior vanished, replaced by the understanding they had of his words.

"If you believe we need this, then please, my Lord, by all means continue."

"Very good."

Kai tapped the air before him, and the system instantly flashed the runes.

[Summon Cost: 10,000 EXP]

[Current EXP: 400,000 EXP]

’The amount of EXP I have does not matter. I doubt erasing a monster I do not like because I do not like them would sit well with Lyra and Carlotta. I can only hope it is something good.’

Thus, he clicked on it.

[10,000 EXP has been deducted.]

[Congratulations on your summons.]

[Summoning...]

Name: Sanovere

Race: Vampire

Class: Lord Class Omega

Level: 999

HP: 1,000,000,000

Kai stared at his new summon.

It was a being with short silver hair, wearing a black noble-like dress suit and a red cape that fell over one shoulder.

’Sanovere. Quite the name.’

"Stand to your feet. Your Master sits before you."

Sanovere, with a charming smile on his face, slowly stood upright. Then he opened his dark eyes and smiled even wider.

"Amazing. So this is the man I would be serving from now on. Truly amazing."

’That quickly?’ Kai was surprised.

He seemed quite different from Lyra and Carlotta’s first summoning.

"You have caught my attention. You have no question you wish to ask about your sudden existence before me?"

"No, my Lord. I do not. Before I arrived here, I myself chose to answer your summons. While I did not know who was summoning me, I did know said person was powerful. Powerful enough to make me bow, and make me stronger."

"Hmm... then you would be right. From this moment forth, you are now my servant."

"I accept with all of my eternal life."

Their words were short but it seemed to be understood by both parties.

Lyra and Carlotta simply watched from behind, knowing yet another summon was going to come right after that.

And it did.

Right in front of Sanovere, Kai summoned yet another one.

A Beastkin.

[Name: Fhera]

[Race: Lion Beastkin]

[Class: Destroyer Elite]

[Level: 1000]

[HP: 900,000]

This Beastkin was a woman with short white hair, glowing yellow eyes, and having such a cat-like body that she seemed both strong and flexible.

However, the moment she arrived before Kai, the first thing she did was try to attack him.

Before she could even reach him, Lyra and Carlotta stepped in and basically beat her up so badly she eventually gave in and swore her loyalty, claiming it was how things were done in her race. Strength was the only law.

The last summon Kai pulled was something no one ever expected.

[Name: Fanny]

[Race: Dragonborn]

[Class: Calamity Type High]

[Level: 888]

[HP: Infinite]

This creature, though having the features of a dragon like horns and a tail, was rather small. She wore a white dress that was partially torn, and she had a look of so much sass on her face.

It was so overwhelming that Carlotta could barely control herself.

"So cute!"

Carlotta immediately went for a hug, squeezing the small Dragonborn tight.
