Chapter 455: Unfading Attraction

"I’m back. Were you on your best behavior today?" Bradon asked.

"Yes!" the two replied in unison.

"Welcome back," I said with a warm smile.

"You two are getting heavier every day," Bradon complained jokingly as he lifted the children into his arms and stood up in one smooth motion.

Bella and Will squealed in delight as I watched on. Seeing them together brought a warm feeling to my chest. I have no way of describing just how precious the three of them are to me.

On top of learning about what it was like to be husband and wife, Bradon and I learned what it was like to be parents. Most of all, we had built a family together.

"Come here. What are you just standing there for?" Bradon asked.

I walked over and wrapped my arms around his waist to hug him. It was hard for me to believe at first, when I gave birth to Bella, that we had built a family of our own. It felt strange and also too good to be true. It made me realize that I never truly had a family to call my own.

I had parents and a sister, but it always felt like Diana and I were just a team. My parents never made me feel like I was truly part of our family, so Bradon felt like the first real family that I ever had. Then Will came into our lives and added more joy and adventure to our family.

Having children with Bradon came so naturally to me. Even though we were busy, we quickly realized that we wanted two children. They surely made us busier, and there were times when we argued because of them.

However, despite the added strain on our relationship at times, we effortlessly agreed with each other that they made us better versions of ourselves and helped us feel more complete.

"Time for dinner. It’s getting late. Come on," Bradon told the children as he carried them into the house.

Watching him spend time with the children always filled me with a sense of peace and satisfaction. No matter how busy his schedule may be or how heavy his responsibilities, he always made time for them and also for us.

Later that night, after the children had been tucked into bed, we sat comfortably on the sofa in the living room. I rested my head on his shoulder as he draped an arm around me. We didn’t say anything at first as we simply enjoyed each other’s company. Just being there together and touching felt more than enough.

"You’ve been working yourself too hard again, I bet," I said before turning to place a kiss on his cheek.

"I guess you’re right, but I can feel that we are getting so close. Closer than ever. Desmond’s reform plans are gaining pace, and if this pace continues..." he said before trailing off with a smile.

"I guess we actually might see it - an independent democracy for this country without a ruling royal family," I whispered, as if I was scared that someone might overhear us.

"I guess Desmond wants to retire early," Bradon said jokingly.

"Don’t we all? I wouldn’t mind retiring early," I replied.

Bradon laughed a little before placing a kiss on my lips. I let my eyes drift closed as I enjoyed the playful feel of his lips on mine.

The tension in the atmosphere evaporated, and it seemed like Bradon’s fatigue went away with it.

"Desmond wants the country and its people to be able to stand on their own feet, for once..." Bradon said after breaking our kiss.

"Or maybe he just wants to sleep well at night and go on endless holidays around the globe without worrying about the mess that his father left him," I replied jokingly, with a touch of sarcasm.

"Whatever his reasons are, it doesn’t change what is really happening and what it would mean for the people. I never thought much about it before, but I know that we’re building a better country for our children to live and grow up in," Bradon said before he reached for my hand and laced his fingers between mine.

"A place where they are free to choose their own paths. They will be safe," I said with a sense of purpose.

Our viewpoints changed after we had our first child, and our determination only grew stronger after Will was born.

We both knew that we weren’t just doing this to keep our deal with Desmond, or just to save our own asses. We weren’t just going through all this for the sake of our future, but also for the future of our children. It wouldn’t be wrong at all to say that our children gave us even more purpose in life.

"That’s all I want for them. I want them to live without fear, and for them to have the choice to be whoever they decide to be," Bradon said.

"Or simply just to be themselves and choose their own paths. I want to give them the life and choices that we never had growing up," I said, as I tried to keep my tears from spilling.

"They will. I can promise you that much," Bradon said.

I closed my eyes again as he placed a tender kiss on my forehead, as if to seal the promise that he had just made.

"Thank you," I whispered.

This time his lips landed on mine in a loving and sweet kiss that made me smile. However, it didn’t take long for our passion to take over. The long and tiresome day needed to be forgotten, and we both needed each other in order to recharge.

His lips felt slightly hot against mine as he deepened our kiss, his tongue slipping deftly between my lips to explore the wet depths of my mouth.

I moaned into our kiss as his hands stroked the curves of my waist before moving to stroke the side of my thigh.

"I want you..." he confessed breathlessly against my lips.

"Fuck me... now..." I whispered back just as hungrily.
