Chapter 1025: Chapter 1025 : All Clear

*Bianca*

“Ugh,” I moaned in pain as I attempted to glare down at my feet, hidden beneath my very pregnant belly. “I thought the feet-swelling was supposed to be gone by now.”

“He, you’ve still got at least a month or two of that left,” My Mom laughed, giving me a humorous smile from the driver’s seat. I pouted, feeling uncomfortable everywhere. The cotton maternity dress felt rough against my sensitive skin, and my back ached even as I had the passenger seat put all the way back down. I was halfway lying down already and I still didn’t feel well.

“I hate this so much,” I groaned, blinking back tears even though I didn’t particularly feel sad. My emotions had been everywhere lately, and it was becoming more difficult to stop the mood swings. Leo had been a trooper dealing with me during these last few days, but my Mama arriving to stay with us had truly been our saving grace.

“My poor paperotta,” Mom rubbed my arm sweetly, coaxing me just as she did whenever I felt sick as a child. I had to admit it felt nice to be pampered and doted on again.

“Thanks for driving me to my appointment,” I squeezed her hand gratefully. “Leo had an emergency to deal with at work–”

“Ay, I don’t wanna know,” Mama shook her head firmly, pursing her lips like she did whenever she didn’t want to acknowledge something. I laughed but didn’t blame her. Since she’d found out about Leo being part of the mafia, she’d refused to know anything about it.

For security’s sake, she’d tell me every time I mentioned it.

“Alright, here we are!” Mama beamed as we pulled into the parking lot of the hospital and I floundered to reach the button to lift the seat back up, or to unbuckle my seatbelt but it was useless. I rolled around like a potato and huffed safely, giving my Mama sad pitiful eyes as I gave up.

“My poor patata,” Mama cooed sweetly again.

“Hey!” I flushed as she got out and rounded the car. Once she opened my door, I gave her a teary look. “I’m not a potato, Mama.”

“Yes, yes,” Mama pressed her lips together but I knew she was still silently laughing. It took a bit but with her help, I managed to get out of the car. I held my big belly as Mama supported me to the elevator. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

I flushed whenever we passed anyway, their wide eyes looking at me like I was about to give birth right here and now but luckily nobody said a word.

The discomfort didn’t last long as Leo’s pull with the hospital got us a room right away and the nurse came in with a beaming sunshine-like smile.

“Alright, ready for your last appointment, then, Miss Bianca?” The nurse sanitized her hands as she set up the equipment.

“I guess so. I’m ready to have my baby out,” I sighed, rubbing my belly. Eight months of pregnancy and I was pretty sure I never wanted to go through it ever again.

“Oh, I can bet on that,” The nurse laughed as my Mama squeezed my hand, giving me a teasing smile.

“I was the same with you,” Mama said, playfully, “Luckily you were an easy baby once you gave out but I swear I can still remember the bruises you gave to my ribcage.”

I winced, having heard that little story before but only now realizing just how painful it must have been.

“You must’ve been one strong baby and from the looks of it so far, so is your little one,” The nurse laughed as she turned to us all ready. She took a seat on the stool as she readied for the checkup. I gave her a sheepish look as she had to adjust the bed multiple times before I finally stopped sliding off but she just laughed it off.

“Alright, you look healthy so far. I am concerned about your weight but some pregnancies can just be like that,” Nurse Jacklyn said with a small frown but then beamed at me as she finished the exam. “We just need to go over a few details, get one last ultrasound if you don’t mind, and then next I’ll see you on your delivery date.”

“Yay,” I said sarcastically, dreading the very thought of that day.

“It’ll be fine, paperotta,” Mama smiled, “Once you get that baby in your arms, all the pain and exhaustion will have been worth it.”

“I certainly hope so,” I said mustering the best smile I could give on the topic.

“You and the Dad have gone over your birthing plan, right?” Nurse Jacklyn asked, raising an eyebrow as she typed into the computer.

“Yeah, epidural and when to get here after labor starts. What to pack, what do we need to have ready, we’ve got it all down,” I nodded. Leo and I had been meticulously planning it since we hit the six-month mark. Mostly because we both wanted the labor to be as easy and pain-free as possible.

Leo had nearly cried when the doctor told him all the risks and complications involved with giving birth and insisted on knowing every possible way to make sure I was safe once the day came. He even had our emergency bags packed for weeks just in case.

“That’s great!” Nurse Jacklyn beamed, her doctor’s badge filled with stickers swaying across her neck as she moved from the computer back over to me. “Well, we just need that ultrasound now just to make sure the baby is getting in the right position.”

I pulled up my shirt, wincing as I revealed my bare skin. It was completely covered in stretch marks and it looked considerably like I might just pop like a grape right here and now. It would all be worth it, I said to myself, remembering Mom’s words.

God, this baby better be cute though.

Nurse Jacklyn felt around my belly for a bit, her lips turning from a smile to a frown and then back again. I could only watch nervously as she nodded to herself and then broke out my least favorite part of these visits.

I shivered before the gel even hit my skin and gripped Mama’s hand tighter as the ultrasound began.

“Well, looks like your baby has dropped which is good,” Nurse Jacklyn said, staring intently at the black-and-white images on the screen. They meant virtually nothing to me though she seemed to know what was going on there. “Hm. Well, I have to say I was hoping for a better view but your baby just likes to keep himself in weird poses, doesn’t he?”

“Is that unusual?” I asked worried something might be wrong.

“Not really,” Nurse Jacklyn assured me with a smile, “It’s a bit frustrating since I haven’t been able to get a good view of the uterus or placenta even after all these visits but from what I can see, the baby is healthy and moving around. Everything seems normal. You are all clear for your delivery, dear.”

I felt much better walking out of the hospital than I did walking in. Knowing that my baby was healthy, if a bit of a troublemaker, made me feel a lot better about my upcoming delivery. Mama helped me every step of the way and I flipped through the ultrasound photos as we headed back home.

I couldn’t wait to share them with Leo.

Mama had to run some more errands so she dropped me off at home and I practically skipped in with my new burst of energy. My excitement only increased once I saw Leo’s car sitting in the driveway.

“Leo!” I called out for him as I threw off my slip-on in the middle of the hallway. I checked the kitchen first then the living room and there he was. Sitting on the couch still in his work suit, his tie off and hung over the back of the couch was my future husband.

Leo looked up from his laptop as he noticed me and his eyes crinkled into a warm smile. “Hey. I was hoping to make it home before you went to your appointment but you were already gone.”

“That’s okay,” I hummed happily as I headed straight for him. Leo tilted his head with a confused look but also pushed his laptop off his lap as I approached, giving me his full attention.

My heart fluttered like the wings of a butterfly as I fully plopped myself down in his lap, even tucking my legs up onto the couch as I hung my arms around his shoulders. His arms automatically shuffled me closer, keeping a loose hold around my waist and belly so I didn’t topple off.

His confused look was adorable.

“Look!” I said, showing him the photos of the ultrasound, “It’s our baby, Leo. They said they’re perfectly healthy and so am I. We’ll get to meet them soon.”

A smile tugged at his lips as he looked over the photos, meanwhile, I had a cat-like grin on my face as I curled my head into his shoulder. I didn’t know what had come over me but for some reason, all I wanted was to be pampered.

To have his attention fully on me. Leo humored me happily as I chatted to him about my day, and I tucked my face closer and closer into the crook of his neck. I could feel goosebumps erupting along his skin as he struggled not to shiver or look affected.

“What about you? How was your day?” I played innocent. He cleared his throat, giving me an odd look like he was trying to figure out my motivations but I just smiled like nothing was out of the ordinary.

“Uh, fine I guess. Just some meetings to discuss things–” Leo’s breathing hitched as I kissed his neck, licking a stripe straight up to his jawline before I teased him with a tiny bite there. His skin was already beginning to bloom a rosy color as I licked over the bite to soothe it. “Bianca.”

His eyes were fully alive, molten even as he gave me the small warning. But his attempts to redirect my focus were in vain. I wanted him and I wanted him now.

“You know,” I said coyly, trailing my hands up his button-down shirt, dipping them slightly between the crevices so I could feel the heat of his skin, the tautness of his muscles when I brushed against them. “I was thinking about baby names. Maybe Lucia or Carina for a girl? Maybe something unique like Sunny for a boy?”

Each name was met with a brush of my lips against his jaw, slowly going upward as he tightened his hold on me.

“Hm? What do you think, Leo?” I whispered his name breathlessly, knowing how riled up it got him and this time wasn’t any different.

Leo snapped and I squealed with giggles as he laid me down on the couch, pinning my wandering hands above my head as he straddled either side of my thighs, careful not to touch the baby. His grip wasn’t strong at all, something I could easily slip out of but I didn’t want to.

“You little tease,” He growled playfully as he kissed my nose.

“So what are you going to do about it?” I challenged him with a wicked smirk. My giggles were drowned as Leo kissed me hard, his want for me obvious as he pressed himself into me. I gave in fully, enjoying every moment of our time together.

Before it would be the three of us.
