STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer-Chapter 680: Silent efforts!
5th Zone, City A
Wilderness,
There is a hidden place close to the border of the unexplored area. It is a rare place where Beast Tamers and beasts seldom tread.
It has become a perfect place for the Darkshade Tree Gate members to operate. This hidden place is like underground prison cells.
Each of the prison cells is crowded with Beast Tamers. There are people standing outside the cells.
They are dressed in black clothes. Their forearms have dark tree tattoos.
The death of the Darkshade members was not hidden for long. The members were able to learn of their deaths.
There are 30 members in the Team. Their Team Leader is a Tier-6 Beast Tamer. When he learned the news, he was disappointed.
The Team Leader had sent those three into the city to collect intel. He didn’t know how they died.
The team in the 5th Zone is one of many teams under the founder. The higher-ups knew that their founder was in the Human Alliance.
So, they were clearly not afraid of the City Governors. He had sent three members to do the task. But this time, they had underestimated the governors.
After the appearance of the corrupted beasts, public anger was sky-high. The governors used this opportunity to eliminate the hidden dangers in the city.
The members believed that three of their members died at the hands of city officials. So, they didn’t make any trouble.
They too wanted the noise to settle down. Their primary target was to capture talented Beast Tamers and their Lifeline Beasts.
These members didn’t know the reason behind it, but the higher-ups didn’t say anything further to them. Their only job was to hand over the captured people to them. That too, alive.
The Team Leader decided not to send more people to the city in uniform. If anyone wanted to go, they could disguise themselves and enter.
However, he got another job. He needed to escort these people back to the higher-ups. Their hideouts are built outside the city.
The next big hideout was located between the 5th Zone and the 4th Zone. They traveled by land to reach the place. They had to be careful of the Corrupted Beasts as well. The smell of the beasts attracted them.
So, he didn’t think much about the death of the three members. If he were to know the death was caused by someone young, he wouldn’t be this free.

Red Moon Chamber,
The following day,
Jeremy was in his practice room. He was training using the thread. This single thread was Starlight Power. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
He had been practicing hard to try to bend it in many ways. But he found that it was difficult. He could only extend it as a straight knife.
If he could use it as per his will, then he could effortlessly kill his enemies. So Jeremy forgot about the katana blade practice.
He was engrossed in practicing the thread moves.
Time went by,
He didn’t pay attention to the passing of time. He believed that no one would disturb him. Everyone else was focused on outside issues.
It would take time for them to settle down.
Time went by,
That night, he walked out of the practice room drenched in sweat. But there was a bright smile on his face. He was able to bend the Starlight Thread from the straight position.
But the thread would break. He needed to maintain fine control over the thread. If the control loosened up, then the thread would break.
He was happy that he made a discovery during the training. He believed it wouldn’t be long before he would have his own thread moves.
Jeremy then went to the bathroom to clean himself.
He then spent 20 minutes in the bath. After coming out, he changed his clothes. Once again, he sat down on the sofa and picked up the device to browse the online news.
A few minutes later,
Jeremy got a basic picture of what happened today. The streets were clean. It meant no more street thugs. No more private and forbidden areas.
The public could go anywhere and use any streets. Before the actions of the governors, certain places were not safe for people to enter.
Only the Beast Tamers who were doing missions dared to enter that place. Like the 48th Team who had gone there.
Hereafter, public activities would be high. Even if someone was found dead on the roadside, nobody would know who did it.
For Jeremy, it was a blessing in disguise. He didn’t have to be afraid anymore.
The following days,
Jeremy switched between the Katana blade technique and his self-created thread moves. His progress in both of them was going well.
Not only that, but the outside situation had calmed down. Everyone had thought the Human Alliance would take action. But they didn’t.

City Office
The City Governors were discussing the next plan. They felt the public anger was gone. Everyone thought that they had changed.
The City Governors started doing their jobs properly. Eliminating the criminals was the first of their tasks.
Next, they had to find all other possible hideouts. Especially the captivity places. They were lucky to have found one long ago.
It was because the beast broke the barrier to come out.
So this time, they had decided to do it well. For that, they needed manpower. The number of officials was low. They needed help from the Beast Taming Families and the organizations.
It didn’t take long for the message from the City Governor’s office to reach the major forces. Upon reading the news, everyone was shocked.
The City Governors wanted the teams from these forces to search the entire city. They had decided to remove the hidden danger.
The Red Moon Chamber was no exception. It got the message as well. Head Harold was dumbfounded. Clearly, the City Governors wanted to drag every major force into the operation.
If the backer of the criminal organization finds out, he wouldn’t dare to kill all the major forces in the city.
Head Harold didn’t expect the governors to play this card. They wanted to appease the public. For that, they decided to eliminate the criminals.
But by doing so, they would piss off the backer behind the criminal organisation. In order to escape his wrath and save their current positions, they decided to involve everyone.
Harold sighed inwardly. He thought it was a lot easier to deal with the corrupted beasts than the humans.
It was the City Governors’ fault for turning a blind eye to certain things. Now that it has bitten them, they are acting righteously.
Harold snorted in his heart. Even though he was unwilling, he had to send a team. But the problem lay here. He doubted anyone would accept the mission.
Already, there was tension among the members. He knew that there was talk among them about leaving the organisation later.
If he forced them to do the mission, it would hasten the process. So he decided to post the mission first. The volunteers would be given rewards.
He doubted whether the reward would do anything. But he decided to try.
The following day,
The Beast Tamers received an official statement on their devices. After reading the statement, the members all had mixed reactions.
They didn’t know whether it was okay to go for the mission or not. Many of them were unwilling. They decided to wait and watch first.
But it was clearly mentioned in the statement that rewards would be given to the volunteers. There was no mention of strength requirements as well.
So anyone could participate. Even those who were loyal to the organisation were hesitating right now. They knew what the consequences would be.
Just a single mission done by the 48th team leader led to a series of disasters. If they did this type of mission again, not only would they die but the organisation would be erased as well.
On the other hand, Melinda and her teammates were discussing the mission. None of her team members wanted to do this suicidal mission.
Melinda was aware of the fact that Head Harold wouldn’t put out the statement in public without any reason. If her team members supported it, then she would like to do the mission.
Unfortunately, none of her team members agreed.
...
Room
Jeremy Night saw the message. He was stunned. He didn’t expect Head Harold to put out such a mission. It was a voluntary mission as well.
He had been practising hard these days. He needed an opportunity to prove himself. Maybe he could use this chance.
Once he was done with the mission, he would ask Head Harold to make him an official Beast Tamer. He then stood up and put on the uniform before leaving the room.
He then started going towards Head Harold’s office. On the way, he came across the other members. They were all discussing the mission.
No one wanted to take it. But how could they face Head Harold next time? Not only were they silent but the other elders were staying silent as well.
