STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer-Chapter 645: Part 1: Late night mission
Red Moon Chamber
The following day
A group of beast tamers stood in front of the mission desk. The group was one of the 50 teams in the organization.
They were discussing the lack of missions on the board. All the important missions to the wilderness had been taken.
If they chose another wilderness mission, it would be a loss for them. The ten-member team was now in a low mood.
A burly middle-aged man, the leader of the team, suddenly said, "Why don’t we pick up a night patrol mission?"
"Late-night crimes are increasing daily. The city administration is focused on fighting against the threats outside."
"We could make good earnings by doing a couple of missions," he added.
His name was Norman, a Tier-5 Beast Tamer. His team members consisted of four Tier-4 Beast Tamers and four Tier-3 Beast Tamers and one Tier-5 Beast Tamer.
Including the leader, it was a ten-member team. Everyone heard Leader Norman’s words, but the members had divided opinions.
It was risky to do these missions. It could involve a do-or-die crisis. Unlike the Corrupted Beasts, where the killings would invite no trouble, here, the situation was different.
The criminals had backup. So, most of the members were unwilling to do the mission.
Norman saw through everyone’s doubts.
"Look, there are no other good missions on the board. It will take some time for an update. Let’s do the mission. We will only act after confirming there are no other threats," Norman tried to convince the others.
Some of the members’ expressions moved, but others hesitated.
Suddenly, a female member named Lily said, "I have a good plan."
Hearing that, everyone turned towards her. Leader Norman’s eyes flickered.
He asked, "What is it?"
Lily said, "It would be risky to enter a criminal’s den. But we can use bait to catch the criminals off guard."
Gasp!
A small exclamation occurred because everyone found her words to be valid. They could try this method.
"Who among us would be ready to be bait?" another member raised the question.
Quiet!
Hearing that, everyone quieted down. Leader Norman then thought of something.
He said, "None of you guys have to be bait. I have someone in mind."
Hearing that, the others were taken aback. No members from other teams would agree to this work. It could lead to an unwanted team fight.
Lily said, "Leader, not a single member will agree."
Norman’s eyes flickered.
He said, "There is a member who will agree to this idea."
"Who?" a team member asked.
Lily and the others were surprised as well.
Norman then said, "Let me first discuss it with that person. If he agrees, then I’ll say who it is."
Everyone was disappointed, but they still believed him.
Meanwhile
In his room, Jeremy Night used the practice room for his daily practice. Yesterday’s breakthrough had boosted his confidence.
The Tier-3 Stage was not far away for him. He then spent a few hours in the practice room before walking out.
Then, he changed into casual clothes. He was going to visit other antique shops today since he had gotten a clue on how to acquire the mutated stones.
He thought it was best for him to collect as many as possible. Also, he had decided to be careful of the old people.
The old woman yesterday had figured out his intentions. It was a huge shock for him. So, this time, he was not going to express his emotions completely.
20 minutes later, he left the room after getting ready. He went to the lobby. He was greeted by the same old mixed gazes and reactions.
As usual, he ignored them and walked out of the building. He walked downstairs and was about to go towards the main gate when he saw a burly middle-aged man stop him.
Jeremy was stunned. This was the first time someone had stopped him. No one had cared about him so far.
"Jeremy Night, I have something to talk to you about," Norman said.
Hearing that, Jeremy furrowed his eyebrows. He noticed that the person was wearing a Red Moon Chamber uniform, so he nodded to him.
"Good, walk with me," Norman uttered.
Jeremy Night then started walking with him to the garden.
"My name is Norman. I’m the leader of one of the Beast Taming Teams. Our team is ranked 48th in the organization," Norman said.
Jeremy was intrigued. He didn’t expect to meet a team leader here, especially one who was talking to him directly.
"Okay, what do you want, Senior?" Jeremy asked politely.
Norman smiled. He liked the calm and composed behavior of the young man.
His eyes flashed with a hint of approval.
Then he said, "I know you are not a Tier-3 Beast Tamer yet, so you can’t do the missions officially. But there is a way for you to help us out completing the mission."
Jeremy Night felt incredible. He was disappointed that he could not do the missions under the current circumstances.
But here, the team leader was saying that he could help them out.
"I would like to hear the details," Jeremy said.
Norman said, "We are going to do a late-night mission tonight. We are going to possibly raid a criminal den."
"But we need help to figure out whether the place is an actual crime den or not. If we raid the wrong place, it could land us in legal trouble," he added.
Jeremy Night was surprised. He didn’t expect the team leader to take on a crime-related task. Normally, no one took them.
Everyone would be interested in doing the wilderness missions. Then what happened?
"If you have doubts, you can ask me," Norman said.
Jeremy didn’t hide his doubts. He directly confronted him with questions.
Norman heard everything and replied, "There is a lack of good missions on the board. The rewards for other missions are not good. It will take some time for the new missions to appear."
"We can’t sit still until then. The crime-fighting missions offer good rewards, but they involve a lot of risks. You can’t go wrong. That’s why we need your help," he added.
Jeremy understood the difficulties. He had been wanting to make connections here, but no one had struck up a conversation so far.
So, he decided to help them to complete the mission.
