Chapter 22 - Maybe I'm Just Bold
"So, this is what happened..." Ice held the door frame, glaring into the room. She had told Selena to stay outside, while she went in to check, and she wasn't shocked to see this.
There were three bodies in the room. Ice turned to the monitors which were soaked in blood, then her pupils narrowed to needlepoint, "They must have already ruined security."
Fortunately, she had little business with these men. Ice searched the room, ignoring an intense stench of blood that wafted into her nostrils, "I need their schematics of the train."
They must have kept a diagram of the train here, Ice thought to herself as she searched the drawers. Then again, the people that killed them could've compromised the schematics.
"Selena, make sure you don't come in here." Ice warned, shoving the body of one of the men to the side then reading through the bloody papers he had underneath him in patience.
She couldn't hurry, because she knew that she could miss and important detail, "There's the engine room locked away behind the bathroom, and that door leads to the feeding area."
"The train was linear, with not many rooms to hide anything." Ice held her chin, turning to the side, "The bomb is not in any of the rooms or else they would've killed the monitors."
She searched and searched, but couldn't find any schematics. Ice knew the best place to hide a bomb in a bullet train would be in the restricted areas that'd be difficult to search in.
"What if they hid it under the train? Or at the top or at the back of the train?" Ice took a deep breath, turning to the next door, "The train would've stopped if no one was driving."
Ice staggered forward, then quickly grabbed the table to stop herself from falling over, a cold gleam in her eyes. She was in no position to fight, especially if they left a trap in there.
Selena wasn't going to be much of support in combat, so Ice needed to think of a way to handle the situation without involving the child. The more she thought, the darker her face.

"Are you sure we can be in here?" Luke asked, turning to Matilda. She shrugged, and he couldn't feel any less assured. The engine room was filled with various moving components.
If anything were to go wrong here, who knows what would happen to the train? They'd busted in here through the bathroom wall, and no one knows how much damage it caused.
"This is the end of the train, and bursting through would send us right out the back and in the rails." Matilda said eagerly, while Luke looked at her as if she was some cold monster.
"How can you say it like that? I still have a long life to live, don't go trying to break the train." Luke turned away from her, then his expression darkened, "The bomb must be here."
"I would have reduced the temperature to handle the heat, but I could mess up with the engines, so we have to search like this." Matilda explained, "Don't get hit by moving parts."
Luke rolled his eyes, wondering what all these were used for. The bomb could be one of the weird parts in here, and he wouldn't be able to spot it, "Man, this will be very difficult."
Just as he took a step forward, Matilda's head snapped in his direction and she frowned, then her eyes widened as he raised his leg to take the next step, "Luke, don't move an inch!"
Luke froze with his one leg handing mid-air, confused.
He turned to Matilda, only to see her pointing into the countless moving parts. After he returned his confused gaze to her, Matilda smacked her face, "I saw a turret hidden there."
"Really?" Luke's heart skipped a beat as he gulped down saliva. He refused to move an inch after that. There were so many parts, he couldn't spot the moving turret among them!
If a turret was let loose inside a place like this, then he'd get torn to shreds along with all the important parts of the train, "I see. So they hid it so we couldn't search the train?"
"One, Two," After sighting the first, even Matilda grew alert. She started checking for any potential turrets hidden there, her face growing darker the more she looked, "Three."
All three potential turrets had them in range. Out of the three she saw, only one was actively aiming at a target. Matilda closed her eyes, wiping the cold sweat off her brows.
"I can't be rash in this situation, or we'll all die here." Matilda inhaled and exhaled, a calm smirk forming on her face as she opened her eyes with a determined gleam in them.
She reached out her hand, watching as the turret slowly froze. While it was freezing, she turned to the other duo, watching as they joined. Any errors here, and it'd be deadly.
Luke was stood on one leg couldn't stop trembling, even with the determined gaze he had mimicked from Matilda. He watched as three areas of the train turned into solid ice.
"So many. I was so close to being a basket." He chuckled drily, wondering if he could drop his leg now. Even after the three turrets were frozen, Matilda hadn't affirmed that.
She shifted her glance from left to right, as if unsatisfied by the three she neutralised, and it made Luke feel uneasy. Then, he heard a soft whirr from the left, and his heart fell.
Matilda's gaze snapped in that direction, where a turret exited from a compartment in the wall, then she snapped her fingers. Each of the bullets it unleashed were frozen midair.
Luke watched as the bullets exploded right in front of his skin, then the turret followed suit. The shards scattered across the ground, then she spoke, "You can drop your leg, Luke."
He dropped his leg, and his knees bucked. He quickly composed himself, but Luke wasn't any less shaken. He turned to the shattered turret, then frowned, "The bomb must be here."
