Strange Worlds-Chapter 330: I Won’t Let Them Die
Chapter 330: I Won’t Let Them Die
Two people, under the dark concealment magic, made their way out of the Green Family Patriarch’s residence and headed towards the forest nearby. The forest was connected with each other and it wouldn’t take that long for them to reach the Black Family area.
Aya could still faintly sense Silas’s presence.
It was really faint but it was there.
This meant that Silas’s understanding of the dark element was really high and he was able to manipulate it to the extent that many people could never reach in their entire life.
It was really amazing.
"Aya," Silas called out and stopped walking. He turned around and looked behind him with a helpless expression. "Why do you want to get involved?"
Aya canceled her magic and pursed her lips. "I don’t want anyone to die."
In the past, the Green Family Patriarch had helped them a lot while Nelia is Silas’s teacher. If it was possible, Aya didn’t want anything to happen to them.
"There’s nothing that we can do unless you can change the Fourth Head of the Wansu City’s mind."
Aya knew that.
But who could do that?
"And I think that the other two cities made conditions that Wansu City couldn’t refuse, so the Fourth Head of the Wansu City had to send powerful people to go there." Silas looked into the distance. "I can only hope for the best."
As much as Silas wanted to interfere, he knew that he couldn’t do anything.
Expose his strength and come with his teacher to help?
That would make the Black Family’s situation worse and Silas knew very well that his uncle might even have killing intent towards him. Even if Silas could defeat the Black Family Patriarch, he didn’t want to hurt his uncle in the slightest bit.
Unless his uncle wanted to kill him and Silas had to defend himself.
Otherwise, he was not willing to do anything to his uncle.
"Just hope?" Aya asked, her tone was low.
For some reason, when she heard his words that reflected nothing but helplessness, Aya felt anger surged deep within her heart.
Anger and unwillingness.
That they were nothing more than pawns used by the Fourth Head of the Wansu City and they had to accept whatever result that was placed in front of them.
"Aya?" Silas looked at his student in front of him.
"If I don’t do anything, I’ll never feel at ease," Aya said slowly. "Is it our fate to just follow the order from others and devote our entire life for Wansu City? Is there no other ending for us but death while serving Wansu City?"
Many magic warriors didn’t die normally.
They died in the battle.
Died during mission.
Either it was missions done for the sake of their livelihood or missions that was coerced into them like what happened to the Green Family Patriarch.
Is this the first time this happened?
No.
There were many missions that seemed to be ordinary and could give them more hopes.
But in the end, there was only one result.
Death.
There was no other result.
It was very frustrating to do nothing but watch as the people whom you know will end up dying.
Can’t I do something?
If I had done things differently... Can I change their fates?
Is there no other way?
These questions would definitely come and haunt her. Just like when she was waiting anxiously about the war at that time.
Without the sudden appearance of the ghost realm, Aya would not have the chance to go and help the Green Family Patriarch to turn the tide around. By killing those ghosts at that time, Aya had allowed the Green Family Patriarch to live much longer.
But now...
Would she just stand by and watch as the Green Family Patriarch walked into the same path and possibly died?
"I don’t know what fate awaits them, but I don’t have the ability to help them." Silas looked at Aya. "It’s not our responsibility if something were to happen to them. All we can do is to do things within our capabilities and not think too much about things that’s outside of our control."
Is it?
Aya was silent.
She felt that she should have been able to do more for the Green Family Patriarch to help him.
But what?
She didn’t know what to do.
Silas looked at Aya like this and sighed. He knew very well that it was really hard to move on after losing someone important in their lives. And in this case, they hadn’t lost it yet but they might lose it anytime soon because of this mission.
It was really upsetting.
"Perhaps... I can make the death puppet?" Silas mumbled to himself.
But he’s only rank 7...
Any magic, formation, runes, magic tools, and many others that was so heaven defying and could defy death were all either rank 8 or even rank 9. It was not something that he could touch at this rank.
Silas sighed deeply.
If he was stronger, he might be able to help.
But right now...
He was simply not strong enough.
"I won’t let them die," Aya said slowly and then turned around to leave.
"You..." Silas looked at Aya’s stubborn back but didn’t chase after her. He knew very well how stubborn Aya could be and he himself was also unwilling to let his teacher die because of the Fourth Head of the Wansu City.
But Silas knew very well that there was nothing that he could do.
He was still very weak and there was no means within his ability that he could use to keep his teacher alive if an accident were to happen.
As for persuading Nelia?
After thinking for a moment, Silas refused it too.
He had gone there and Silas knew very well that persuasion is useless. Moreover, he was not that close to Nelia to the point that he would risk everything just to help her.
If he could help, he would.
But the premise is his own survival and his own plan.
If the way to help her is to put himself in danger... then Silas had to say that he couldn’t do it.
