Stolen love: In love with my sister 's fiance-Chapter 53: waiting at the altar
Chapter 53 - waiting at the altar
Elaine stood in the quiet courtroom, her simple white gown flowing gracefully around her. She had never imagined her wedding like this—small, intimate, and hidden from the world—but right now, none of that mattered. She was marrying the man she loved.
Beside her, Adrian stood silently, his hands clenched at his sides. His heart felt heavy, but he masked it with a smile. This was her happiness, and he had promised to support her, no matter how much it hurt.
The clock on the wall kept ticking, each second stretching into eternity. Elaine's glow of excitement gradually dimmed as time passed.
She glanced at her phone again. Still no call, no message. Her fingers trembled as she dialed Alex's number. Out of reach.
A flicker of panic crossed her face. "Maybe he's stuck in traffic," she whispered, forcing herself to stay calm.
The lawyer, who had been waiting patiently, glanced at his watch. "Miss Elaine, how long should we wait?"
Adrian, who had been quietly observing, finally spoke. His voice was calm but laced with an edge of doubt. "Elaine, are you sure he's coming? He hasn't called all morning."
Elaine's breath hitched. Alex had never been the type to be late, especially not for something this important. But she refused to believe the worst.
She forced a smile and nodded. "He'll be here. Just give him thirty more minutes."
Adrian sighed but didn't argue. Still, something in his gut told him—something wasn't right.
Time kept passing, stretching unbearably long. Thirty minutes. One hour. But there was still no sign of Alex.
Elaine's fingers curled tightly around her phone, her heart hammering in her chest. Her calls remained unanswered. Her messages left unread. What was happening?
Adrian had been patient long enough. His jaw tightened as he finally said, "That's it. We're going to find him."
Without waiting for her response, he took her by the wrist and guided her to his car. The drive to Alex's apartment was silent—Elaine was too anxious to speak, and Adrian was too furious.
The drive to Alex's apartment was painfully silent. Elaine felt like she was suffocating, the worst possibilities running through her mind.
What if something happened to him? What if he was in trouble?
When they reached the apartment, she rushed to the door and knocked—desperately.
"Alex!" Her voice shook as she banged on the door again. "Are you in there?"
Silence.
She tried calling again. Straight to voicemail.
Adrian exhaled sharply. "He's not here."
Elaine turned to him, her eyes desperate. "Then where is he?"
Adrian, seeing her distress, exhaled sharply. "If he's not here, we're checking his villa."
They drove off again, this time straight to Alex's private estate. But as they approached the grand gates, a strange sight met them.
The villa was decorated with golden lights, elegant floral arrangements, and ribbons draped across the entrance. It was beautiful—too beautiful.
It looked like a wedding.
Elaine's stomach dropped. Her vision blurred for a second as she tried to process what she was seeing.
Adrian parked the car roughly, his face hardening.
She didn't wait. She ran toward the entrance.
Two guards immediately stepped in front of her, blocking her path.
"Let me in!" she gasped, her voice unsteady.
The guards exchanged looks but remained firm.
"Miss, you can't enter."
Elaine's heart was hammering so loudly she thought it would burst. She forced herself to speak.
"Whose wedding is this?"
The hesitation from the guards only made it worse. She felt like she was standing on the edge of a cliff, waiting for them to push her off.
Finally, one of them spoke.
"It's Master Alex... marrying Madam Olivia."
Elaine's breath caught in her throat.
No.
It felt like something sharp had pierced through her chest. Her knees weakened, and she nearly stumbled back.
She wanted to believe she misheard, that this was all some sick joke. But the way the guards averted their gazes confirmed it.
Adrian's expression turned murderous. His fists clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white.
"Call Alex," he ordered, his voice dangerously low. "Tell him Elaine is here."
The guards hesitated.
"Sir... we can't disturb the ceremony."
Adrian took a step forward, his entire presence turning ice-cold.
"Call him. Or I'll go in and stop this wedding myself."
The sheer authority in his voice made one of the guards flinch. Without another word, he rushed inside.
Elaine stood frozen, her chest rising and falling rapidly.
Her hands clenched at her sides, her nails digging into her palms.
Her heart was screaming for answers.
___
The wedding had ended. Guests clapped, offering their congratulations, but Alex barely reacted. His face was blank, empty—void of any joy.
Olivia, on the other hand, smiled too sweetly, basking in the attention. But Alex didn't care. He didn't even acknowledge her beside him.
Then, a bodyguard approached, whispering something in his ear.
Alex's body tensed. His heart pounded.
"I'll be back," he muttered, making a quick excuse before striding toward the entrance.
As he stepped outside, his breath caught in his throat.
Elaine was standing there.
She was crying.
Dressed in a simple, beautiful white gown, her hair slightly disheveled from the wind. She looked breathtaking—and completely shattered.
Behind her, Adrian stood, his face dark with quiet anger, his hands resting protectively on her shoulders.
Alex couldn't breathe.
The sight of her, looking at him like that, broke something inside him.
Elaine's gaze slowly roamed over him, taking in the suit, the wedding decorations behind him—the undeniable truth.
He was already married.
She didn't need to hear him say it.
Her hand suddenly swung through the air—
SLAP.
The sound echoed sharply.
Alex barely reacted. He just stood there, his face still void of emotion, as her trembling hands grabbed his collar.
"How could you do this to me?!" she screamed, her voice shaking with fury and pain. "You promised me, Alex! You asked me to marry you! How could you give me hope just to shatter it?!"
For the first time, Alex met her gaze—his own eyes filled with something unreadable.
Slowly, mechanically, he pried her fingers off his collar and stepped back.
"Olivia is pregnant with my child," he said, his voice empty. "How could I marry you?"
Elaine froze.
Her body felt cold.
You.
Her mind repeated that word, over and over.
Her lips parted in disbelief. "You..."
Her face turned red with anger.
"You bastard!" she seethed.
She raised her hand again, but before she could strike, Adrian grabbed her wrist.
"Leave it, Elaine," Adrian said softly, his grip firm but gentle.
But Elaine wasn't done.
She struggled, trying to free herself. Her chest heaved, her heart breaking all over again.
"How can you say that, Alex?!" she cried. "You're the one who kept asking me to trust you! To believe in you! Again and again, I gave you another chance, and you broke it every time!"
Tears streamed down her face as her voice cracked.
"I regret loving you," she whispered.
Alex flinched.
"You don't even deserve my hate."
He stood still, absorbing every single word like a blade cutting through him.
Adrian had enough.
"Let's go, Elaine," he said firmly. "This man doesn't deserve your tears."
But Elaine refused to move.
She stood her ground, her fists clenched, her body trembling with rage and pain.
Adrian finally lost patience. He forcefully pulled her away, dragging her from the place that had just destroyed her.
Outside, Elaine completely broke down.
All the anger she had held inside exploded—but not at Alex.
At Adrian.
"And you!" she screamed, shoving Adrian's chest.
He didn't move, but his jaw tensed, his eyes filled with nothing but concern.
"Why?!" she sobbed, hitting him again. "Why didn't you stop me?! Why didn't you tell me he would do this?!"
She pushed against his chest, hitting him weakly with her fists.
"Why didn't you punch him?!" she sobbed.
Adrian let her hit him. He let her rage.
"Why didn't you say anything, Adrian?! He doesn't deserve to walk away like that!"
"He doesn't deserve anything! He doesn't deserve my heart ,doesn't deserve my hate " she repeated, her voice rising in hysteria as her punch turned weak .
Her hands gripped his collar, shaking him.
" tell me, Adrian!" she screamed.
Adrian caught her wrists and held them tightly.
"Because you needed to leave, Elaine," he said quietly, his voice thick with emotion.
She kept crying.
"Because if I hit him, I wouldn't stop," Adrian admitted, his own eyes wet.
Elaine collapsed into his chest.
He held her as she cried, his jaw clenched so tightly it hurt.
Alex, standing at a distance, watched them.
He turned around and walked away.
__
Elaine's body shuddered with one last breath as she wiped the tears from her face.
Her eyes, once filled with raw pain, were now empty—cold, unreadable.
She straightened, inhaling deeply, forcing herself to stand tall.
Adrian watched her carefully, his heart aching at how quickly she buried her emotions.
She turned to him, her voice flat, void of any warmth.
"Let's go," she said reached for Adrian's hand.
Her grip was tight.
"Drive," she ordered, her voice cold, her eyes dry from crying.
Adrian hesitated, but one look at her empty expression, and he silently obeyed.

The car ride was silent.
Elaine didn't say a word.
Adrian kept glancing at her, waiting for her to break—but she didn't.
She just stared out the window, her hands clenched into fists.
Then, suddenly, she spoke.
"Stop here."
Adrian pulled up in front of a luxurious hotel.
His brows furrowed.
"Elaine... why are we here?"
Elaine stepped out of the car.
She walked straight inside.
Adrian followed quickly, his concern growing.
Elaine strode up to the reception desk, her voice calm, too calm.
"I have a room booked under my name," she said.
The receptionist smiled. "Of course, ma'am. Let me confirm—"
Adrian grabbed her wrist.
"Elaine, what are you doing?"
Elaine turned to him.
"I booked a room with my own money."
Her lips curled into a humorless smile.
"And I don't want to waste it."
