Stolen By My Billionaire Brother-In-Law-Chapter 91: Never See The World Again
[Later that night]
Rivana walked into the Dynar Mansion with her head still heavy with all the meetings. She had to manage not just one but two companies with Faye Corporations being even more difficult to manage alone. Her company Shadow Inc. Was still a small growing business, so she didn’t had the experience and would need to spend hell of a time studying about it.
"Was the workload heavy, Ma’am?" Bulter George welcomed her with a frown on his face. It felt as though Rivana would with just a light push, exhuation written on her dull face.
Rivana hummed and settled on the couch. Looking at the butler, she asked, "When will they be back?" The house felt empty with Azrael and Ezekiel having been gone for long. Callum still had business to attend and she returned alone, the silent mansion wearing her out even more.
"They might probably leave Draxton city tomorrow." Butler George answered. "I talked with Elder Master in the evening and things seemed to have all settled there."
"That’s good to hear!" Rivana replied, a smile beaming on her face. She was glad her husband would be back soon but was more excited to meet Ezekiel who had gone for quite a while. In small duration, they were able to form great bond and she knew he would definitely help her pass through these hurdles, having run a business empire successfully for ages.
George nodded with a smile. "Would you like me to prepare something to eat for you, Madam?" he asked.
"No." Rivana shook her head. "Its quite late already. You should go and rest, Geroge." She added.
"I will leave after preparing some coffee. You still have some work left to attend." George insisted, seeing the bundles of files she had carried back home.
Rivana nodded with a grateful smile. As George left for the kitchen, she walked upstairs to her room. Taking a quick shower, she slipped into her pajamas and walked to her cozy office room that Azrael had prepared right after their marriage.
Butler George was already present, with a tray containing a flask, a mug and a few cookies beside her desk. He was making sure the windows were locked and it was safe to be alone. Though there were guards on night duty around the mansion, they still needed to be careful considering how Rivana was thrust into a series of accidents.
"Call me if you need anything, Madam." George reminded Rivana again. Unlike other staffs, he had gotten his own room in the mansion, making it easy to be on standby and use his fighting skills when required.
Rivana nodded with a smile. "Good night." She wished to which George nodded before walking out of the room.
Once he was out, Rivana stretched her neck and hands before settling on her chair. It was going to be studious night with many old files and projects of Faye Corporations to cover.
"Let’s finish it quickly," Rivana murmured, filling her mug with coffee. Wearing her glasses, she took a sip, reading through the files and making notes out of them.
Rivana didn’t realize how long had she been working until she felt someone knocking on the door. She looked up from the files, her eyes falling on the clock that was ticking past five in the morning. "It must be George," she murmured before getting up and opening the door.
But as soon as she opened the door, her eyes widened in surprise. A wide smile spread across her lips and she threw herself onto Azrael.
"I thought you’d be returning tomorrow." Rivana murmured. Breaking the hug, she asked, "What are you doing here?"
Azrael didn’t let go of her, his hand firmly wrapped around her waist. He glanced at her before his eyes fell on the mess on her desk. "I should be asking you that." He replied, clearly displeased.
Rivana turned around and murmured, "Ah, I needed to go through a few old files." With a smile, she turned around and added, "Give me a few more minutes. I will be done quick."
"No." Azrael replied firmly. He then scooped her in his arms, surprising. Rivana’s eyes widened, her hands circling around his neck. A smile spread across her lips as he turned around and started walking toward their room.
"When did you return?"
"A few minutes ago." Azrael replied. He had gone straight to there room only to find the bed empty. He guessed she must be working and it turned out right. And with the way her face had lost all its color, it was clear she hadn’t budged from that place the entire night.
Rivana nodded, the smile never fading on her face. "Why isn’t Uncle back yet? I miss him."
Azrael glanced down at her, a hint of possessiveness crossing through his eyes. "And you didn’t miss me?"
Rivana’s smiled widened, finding his expression cute. She decided to tease him a little. "Why would I miss you? We literally talked in phone once every hour or two." She laughed lightly.
Azrael’s grip tightened around her. "Its been exactly 17 hours 52 minutes since we last talked." He complained.
"You kept count of it?" Rivana asked in surprise. She wasn’t expecting it all.
Azrael didn’t reply but his expression clearly conveyed he was annoyed. As they entered their room, he laid her on the bed. "Sleep." He muttered, his expression make it hard for Rivana to control her laughter.
Just as he turned around to leave, Rivana grabbed his hand and pulled him on the bed. Cupping his face, she captured his lips.
Azrael’s eyes widened as this was the first time she had taken the lead. She kissed him fervently, relying how much she had missed him. Her other hand clutched his collar and pulled him closer as if she was unwilling to let him go anywhere.
Rivana slowly broke the kiss, before she looked into his eyes. "I missed you terribly too." she confessed. "If you hadn’t returned tomorrow, I was planning to fly all the way to Draxton."
Azrael broke into a smile, his heart warming at her words. Leaning closer, he pecked her lips gently. "I won’t be going back anymore."
"You better." Rivana replied seriously. It was hard to be apart from him, even a single day felt like eternity, and with everything that had happened today, she missed him even more.
They laid on the bed but both didn’t want to fall asleep though their body begged to rest. Rivana snuggled closer to Azrael, wrapping her hand around him tightly. Meanwhile Azrael combed through her hair, trying to put her to sleep.
"Did you check on Callum?" Rivana asked. "He almost got injured because of me."
"He briefed me about it." Azrael replied. Since Rubina didn’t seem like a greater threat, he had decided to handle her at the last but she had just dug a hole herself by attacking Rivana with a knife.
"How did she go blind?" Azrael asked, the piece still a puzzle to even his team.
Rivana sighed softly, the memory still a scar etched deep in her heart. She hesitated for a moment, her voice faltering as she began to speak. "It was at her 15th birthday," she said, her tone heavy with regret.
Azrael remained silent, his hand still combing gently through her hair, encouraging her to continue.
"I was delivering the juices," Rivana began, her gaze distant as she recalled the incident. "I accidentally tripped on her friend. It was a stupid mistake, but Rubina... she wanted me to kneel and apologize right there in front of everyone." Her lips pressed into a thin line, the humiliation of that moment still fresh in her mind. "I refused."
She paused, her fingers tightening slightly around Azrael’s shirt. "She tried to grab my hair, and we got into a fight. I pushed her, and she fell... hitting her face on the glass table."
Azrael’s brows furrowed, his expression unreadable as he listened intently.
"I’m not sure of the exact details," Rivana continued, her voice quieter now. "But the doctor said the shards had pierced through her eyes. They said it was impossible for her to see again."
The room fell silent for a moment, the weight of her words hanging heavily in the air. Rivana’s mind drifted to the aftermath, the chaos that had ensued. "Even Emmerich," she said, her voice tinged with disbelief, "he went to the best doctors in the world, trying to get her vision back. But it was no use."
Azrael’s hand stilled for a moment before resuming its soothing motion. "And yet, she managed to keep up the act for all these years," he said, his tone thoughtful.
Rivana nodded, a bitter smile tugging at her lips. "I’m still amazed by it. But I think... I think it must have been Amerie. She must have protected her, used her disability to gain an upper hand. It was her way of staying close to Emmerich, of securing her place in his life."
"She fooled all of us." Her voice trailed off.
"She won’t be fooling anymore." Azrael replied, his voice turning dark. He would make sure she would never be able to see the world again.
