Chapter 46: His Kind Of Recharge

Rivana was shocked and raised her fist to punch whoever had dragged her into the room. She turned around, but the person quickly caught her fist before it could ruin his handsome face.

"Woah," Azrael chirped, amusement dancing in his eyes. Taking down her hand, he teased her, "Calm down, my feisty wife."

Rivana sighed out loud and glared at him. All the recent attacks had hit her hard, and her brain was always switched on to fight mode whenever she was alone. Azrael was glad about it, relieved that at least she wouldn’t get scared and give in to the attacker.

"What are you doing here?" Rivana questioned with a pout. She scanned around the room, which seemed like a private hotel suite. Don’t tell me...

"I am here to recharge," Azrael’s reply connected quite with her thoughts.

Rivana looked at him, the low lift of his lips into a smirk making her heart start picking up its pace. "Re-recharge?" she asked in confusion.

Azrael hummed in response and placed his hand around her waist before she could escape. He pulled her closer quickly, closing whatever gap was separating them.

Rivana gasped lightly, her heart now beating so fast that she doubted if even he could hear it. He tilted his head slightly and smiled, the glint in his eyes irresistibly alluring that she couldn’t look away.

He leaned closer, and Rivana felt her heart flutter, bracing itself for something he had teased for days now. But again, instead of kissing her, Azrael hugged her tightly, wrapping both his hands around her. It was intimate yet tender, a sweet gesture that came as a surprise for Rivana.

His kind of recharge was to spend time with her? Rivana thought, a warmth spreading through her body.

"I liked the way you called me your husband earlier," Azrael murmured in a low voice. He smiled, recalling the moment, her tone a melody replaying in his mind.

Oh, so he heard it too, Rivana thought, a faint blush creeping onto her lips.

Azrael slowly released her. But to his surprise, Rivana clutched onto his coat edges. He blinked down at her in confusion, seeing a tinge of shyness on her face before she rested her head on his chest again.

"Hold me a little longer. I like it when you do it," Rivana murmured, her heart beating loudly again.

Azrael smiled brightly and hugged her again. He would do this forever if she liked it, he thought, closing his eyes and enjoying the moment.

That was when Rivana realized she hadn’t been quite honest about her feelings toward him. He had always been open, speaking and proving many times, and she hadn’t been as brave as him until now. She was worried that it was too fast to express and he might feel it was absurd, but she decided to do what her heart wanted.

"What else do you like?" Azrael asked, curious to know more.

"Hmm. I liked the food you made," Rivana replied, recalling the night. With a smile, she added, "It was delicious."

Azrael smiled, deciding to cook for her every day. He hummed, cueing her to continue further.

"I liked the way you calmed me when I had a nightmare," Rivana continued, recalling how he had stayed beside her all night. "With you beside me, I was able to sleep well," she added, her cheeks warming slightly.

Alright. He would sleep beside her every day. Azrael made a mental note, his smile turning into a mischievous smirk. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

"And," Rivana looked up at him. When their eyes locked, she confessed, "I liked that you are still the same Ray Ray who would always be by my side, though you have gotten pretty more annoying."

Azrael chuckled softly. "And I’m glad to see the annoying crybaby again who would always cling to me," he replied, making Rivana huff and hit his chest.

Their pure relationship from childhood had become a foundation for whatever they were feeling for each other today. Azrael hoped it would only get stronger and wouldn’t be shaken in the face of any storm.

They both smiled at each other, their eyes glinting with happiness. Since Rivana was shorter than him, her eyes ended up landing on his lips She instinctively gulped and looked back at him, the yearning in her eyes exhilarating him. His fingers dug slightly into her waist, causing her to suck in a short breath. Rivana hesitantly leaned forward, following whatever the devil inside her tempted her to do. But just before she could fulfill its wish, Azrael’s phone suddenly rang.

Rivana turned beetroot red, coming back to reality. A blush crept onto her cheeks, coloring them red, and she quickly took a step back, embarrassed to the point of wanting to run away. God dammit! What is wrong with you?!

Azrael groaned and ran a hand through his hair. When the phone rang again, he quickly took it out of his pocket. It was none other than Callum again. Even Rivana felt a little irritated this time.

Azrael picked it up only to hear a panicked cry from the other end.

"Your wife is missing! I think she is kidnapped by them," Callum said aloud, his voice filled with tension.

Azrael heaved a frustrated sigh and replied, "She is with me now."

"Oh..." There was a long pause before Callum added, "I will prepare a cemetery for myself."

"Leonora seems to be looking for me," Rivana babbled and rushed out of the room. Luckily, he had stepped aside from the door, making it easy for her to escape.

Azrael glared at his phone and sighed again. Callum better has shot himself before he did it for him! He thought, before walking out of the room.

Rivana got out of the washroom after calming herself. Luckily, Azrael hadn’t followed, and she had run in the direction of the hall, assuming he might have left. Her cheeks turned red again as she crossed the room he had locked her in earlier, her actions making her so embarrassed that she wanted to dig a hole and bury herself.

"He was so sweet and hot! I couldn’t ignore it, okay?" The devil inside her tried to defend herself, but Rivana only tried to shut it down. It needed to sleep at least until the party was over.

"Ah, you are back!" Leonora noticed her as she entered the hall again. Clinging to her hand, she murmured, "I was worried for a minute since no one could find you."

Rivana smiled at her best friend, trying her best to hide her emotions. If Leonora caught her, she would tease her about it for the rest of their lives. Leonora took her to meet a few ladies, the daughters of a few government officials. Though all they did was doll up and spend their parents’ money, they still needed to make connections to thrive in their high society.

After exchanging a few words, Rivana excused herself, walking to a table to sit. The heels were killing her, and Leonora’s assistant hadn’t returned yet from fetching a pair of low heels for her.

Just as she was about to settle, Rubina reached over to her and grabbed her hand. She had followed her out, but Amerie had caught her, warning it wasn’t the right time since Azrael was always behind Rivana. But Rubina ignored her warning and decided to confront her sister.

"Why are you doing this to me, sis?" Rubina asked, her voice low but tinged with frustration.

"What am I doing, Rubina?" Rivana questioned back in confusion. Rubina had always loved to play the victim card, bullying her using it, and Rivana was sure it was one of those stunts again.

"Why can’t you leave Viktor now that you are married to somebody else?" Rubina asked out loud, her voice garnering the attention of the guests around them. With tears in her eyes, she continued, "Is it because I like him and you don’t want to see me happy?"

Rivana scoffed at her words. Crossing her arms, she clarified, "Look, Rubina. I would definitely not care if you decide to pick up the trash I threw out of my life. So, stop getting me into your mess."

"Yeah!" Leonora joined in, having sensed the scene from afar. "Don’t blame her if he only toyed with you." Crossing her arms, she sneered, "If loving him seems like a way to save your reputation, then go ahead. She won’t give a damn about you and that man."

Clinging to Rivana’s arm, Leonora murmured, "Let’s go."

Rivana nodded, but just as she was about to walk away, Rubina suddenly held her arms. She looked up at her, and for the second time, Rivana couldn’t miss the glint in her eyes, a malicious vibe as if she could see everything.

"What are you doing?"

Before Leonora could step in, Rubina picked up the glass on the table. Glaring at Rivana, she threw the wine on her, drenching her sister’s dress completely.

"What in the world?" Leonora grumbled as Rivana’s upper part of the dress soaked in red wine, appearing even bolder.

"I am sorry, sis," Rubina murmured, fumbling her way to place the glass on the table. In her futile attempt, the glass fell and hit the floor, crashing into pieces and gaining everyone’s attention.

"Ruby!" Amerie, who had walked out to pick up a call, rushed to the scene.

"I’m sorry, sis. My feet hit the table, and the glass slipped from my hand," Rubina murmured, searching for Rivana with her hands. Tears streaked down her eyes, and she continued, "I should have never come here. A blind person like me deserves to be locked inside a room."

"What happened?" Amerie asked in a worried tone. Scanning Rubina, she continued, "Are you okay?"

Rivana’s mood worsened, her eyes fixed on the woman in front of her while Leonora tried to get some help.

"It’s fine, Ruby," Rivana replied, her smile cold and hinting at something dark. Taking another red wine glass on the table, she flung it right on Rubina’s face.

A dead silence followed after Rubina’s shriek, gasps, and murmurs filled the room. Rubina cried as the liquid stung her skin, going even into her eyes.

Leonora’s mouth opened in shock, she glanced at her friend and smirked, totally proud of her.

"Ruby!" Amerie shrieked in worry. Glaring at Rivana, she grumbled, "Why do you always like to bully her, Rivana?"

The onlookers started filming the scene, many quick to frown upon Rivana. Rubina seemed to have accidentally spilled it, but Rivana reacted rudely, disrespecting the poor blind woman.

"What’s happening here?" Ezekiel’s voice caught the four women’s attention.

Amerie glanced at Azrael beside him. As he walked beside Rivana, his expression dark, she complained, "Your wife bullied our poor Ruby, Mr. Dynar. She lost her vision because of you, and you don’t have even a bit of guilt about it."

Everyone held their breaths at Amerie’s accusation. Azrael’s unreadable expression made it even harder to think about his reaction to it.

Azrael glanced at Rubina’s face first before scanning his wife thoroughly. Raising his hand, he patted her head with a smile. "Good job," he praised her, shocking the two women in front of him.
