Steampunk: Sixth Era Epic-Chapter 383 Feliana’s Notes
```
After the sigh, Shard officially began to count all his gains after the second key had disappeared.
Besides the unexpected acquisition of the "Kiss of the Tree" Spirit Rune and the confusing truth about the Time Key, Miss Feliana had said that if she could remember Shard, she would leave him a gift.
Unfortunately, after one and a half months of being at the Academy, Shard discovered nothing. Perhaps Miss Feliana had forgotten him, or maybe the gift was in the castle of Saint Byrons, waiting for him to truly reach the Academy to receive the enchanting lady's present.
However, Miss Feliana's notebook had successfully traveled with Shard to the current time. Although the pages had yellowed a bit after arriving from the past, it did not affect the reading. Shard stood by the window leafing through the notebook, and to his surprise, found small portions of blank space. The notebook, originally meticulously filled by the Witch, had segments of blanks intermittently, though they probably only accounted for a tenth of the total content.
"Come to think of it, this is the first time I've acquired such a vast amount of knowledge from the past."
Although the Father of the Infinite Tree had departed, Shard truly felt His presence at every moment.
Bowing his head, he looked at the remaining leaf, which since the one before it contained the Arcane Technique of the "Spatial Stabilization Aura," meant that this leaf must represent "a truth of history (end of the Witch War in the Fifth Era)."
Shard pondered for a moment, closed his left eye, and held the leaf up to his right.
The cat looked up at him curiously.
Shard saw some floating lights and shadows, and then saw a long, narrow cobblestone corridor.
The ground was paved with white ash, and two women in splendid long dresses walked one after the other down the corridor. It was extraordinarily dilapidated, like ancient ruins weathered through long years.
At the end of the corridor was a very familiar Mist Gate, which the women entered together.
Behind the door, shrouded in white mist, the two women stood together, one showing a ring on her right hand, the other holding a golden button.
As both items radiated a gentle white light, the white mist gradually dissipated.
It resembled a ritual site, as well as a council hall. In the open space stood a huge gray-white stone round table, surrounded by thirteen stone high-backed chairs.
Surrounding the round open space, worn stone steps led upward, obscured at the highest point by white mist.
The two women took their seats, with Shard's perspective always behind them, so he could not see their faces at all.
"The Fifth Era should have ended."
One voice said, naturally not in the common language of Draleon.
"Yes, the witches are the result of failure; it is time to begin the next Era."
Another voice spoke.
"But the other eleven will not agree."
"They have betrayed their own promises, abandoned the Council, and forgotten the mission they carry... Now only we two have the right to vote, which is enough."
"Should we really do this?"
The tone was very anxious.
"Yes, if we delay any longer, the people of the Sixth Era will face even greater problems. For the future of this world, it's time to end it."
After a moment of silence, the two said together:
"In the name of the Witch Council, voting for the thirteen seats begins. Thirteen should be present, two are actual, two have the right to vote, meeting the minimum requirement. Initiating voting for the 3419th meeting of the Witch Council, on the matter of whether to agree to the participants using the Council's power to forcibly end the Fifth Era through the form of a Witch War."
"The Sixth seat agrees."
"The Thirteenth seat agrees."
"Two valid votes, zero invalid votes. Of these, two votes in favor, zero against. The motion is passed."
Flames sprang from beneath the round table, igniting the two women on the ancient stone high-backed chairs. But instead of being injured, they seemed to grow stronger with their intense breathing action.
Shard put down the leaf, and all the images ended. Trying to look again, he no longer saw the earlier repeating scenes.
His brows furrowed even more:
"So, there really is a space left by the Ancient Gods known as the 'Witch Council'... The Witch War was initiated by two witches to end the Fifth Era... Since the 'Witch Council' was handed down, the current witches may still control that space."
With two "Ever-Youth Leaves" in his left hand, and his right hand patting the cat on the window sill, Shard stared blankly towards the halo of the gas street lamp outside the window. The halo was ambiguous and blurry, illuminating his profile but not brightening the confusion in his heart:
"The unknowns have multiplied again."
His mood was not good, and of course, that was not just because of the eternal farewell to the two kind witches.
It seemed that every time he went back to witness history, he would discover even more unknowns upon returning.
The wall clock in the corner ticked on:
```
"So, is it really the Sixth Era now... and it's Monday again. What will the gift box bring me this week?"
(Mia running...)
"So, is it really the Sixth Era now?"
That was the first thing Shard said to Dorothy when he saw her at his doorstep on Monday morning.
He had dark circles under his eyes, his complexion was pale, his lips cracked, his hair disheveled, and his eyes even seemed a bit dull.
The female writer, excitedly holding a copy of the Steam Bird Daily, stood at the door of the Shard family, nodding hesitantly:
"Of course it is... Shard, didn't you say you only went back three seconds? Did the Time Key make you experience more time, to the point where you can't tell the time now?"
Worriedly glancing at Shard's terrible condition, the blonde girl in black leather shoes stepped inside. Her golden hair brushed over Shard's shoulder as she pursed her lips and asked:
"Let's do a test then, Shard. What did you do before we parted ways yesterday?"
Shard rubbed his face, returning to a semblance of normalcy, as he recalled while pulling the door closed:
"We had dinner together, and I mixed some expensive fish liver oil into Mia's cat food to make the cat forget about the bath at noon." Continue your journey on novelbuddy
"Meow~"
The orange cat, waiting on the stairs for Shard to come up, immediately looked up with a meow upon hearing its name, the morning sunlight streaming through the partially closed door glinting in its fluffy chest fur.
It was bustling outside, with gentlemen in boots hurrying to work on a foggy Monday morning at Saint Delan Square.
"Then, you're right, it is indeed the year 1853 in the Common Calendar of the Sixth Era. Shard, what's wrong with you? Losing your sense of time is a sign of a Circle Sorcerer losing control, especially since you wield the power over time."
Dorothy grew even more concerned as she spoke.
"No, it's not out of control; just curiosity."
Shard shook his head. He didn't plan to reveal to Dorothy the information he had learned from the gods since it was pointless and would likely draw her into strange affairs.
"Then why do you look unwell?"
She asked again.
"I was reading until late last night. I only went to bed at two and was woken up by Mia at seven... I'm planning to make an interesting alchemical item soon."
Shard yawned, thinking of the notebook now lying on the dining table. Though missing one-tenth of its contents, the rest remained incredibly valuable.
Miss Feliana had filled it with meticulous small handwriting, detailing her adventurous experiences, ways to gain power, understandings of Transcendents, fascinating rumors, and some recipes for magic potions and alchemical items.
There was only one alchemical item for which Shard knew all the materials, meaning he could create it. Miss Feliana had not written the item's name, but its sole function was clear—detecting witches.
Once the alchemical item was made, it would act like a pendant hung around the neck. Within half a mile's range of a witch (approximately 804 meters), the pendant would get hot on its own. Moreover, the more witches present and the stronger they were, the more noticeable the heat would become.
This detection range was much further than a witch's detection range of Shard, which would be highly beneficial in keeping those troublesome women at bay.
Of course, besides the knowledge within, the notebook itself was a valuable antique.
Although made of ordinary paper, its pages bore Miss Feliana's own handwriting. For institutions like Saint Byrons Integrated Academy, it was an exceptionally remarkable item; Shard guessed the Academy might offer a five or even six-figure sum in Gold Pounds if he were willing to sell.
But Shard would not sell it; he would forever cherish it as a memento of the two witches who had helped him.
Today, as agreed, Shard was to visit Princess Lecia again at Coldwater Port, while Dorothy came over to take care of the cat and to browse through the remaining detective records.
This morning's Steam Bird Daily featured Dorothy's serialized detective novel "Hamilton Detective Stories," with the first short story, "Expired Murder." As it was the first installment, it took up a large space, allowing her to put out more content.
The introduction of "Hamilton Detective" was a significant part, influencing the ability to link future stories together.
The main distribution area for the Steam Bird Daily was centered around Tobesk in the heart of Draleon, but copies could also be found in big cities like Coldwater Port.
If Dorothy's story turned out to be successful, it would mean her career had ascended to a higher level, significantly more meaningful than a Kingdom Literary Award shared among 35 people.
Leading Dorothy upstairs, Shard shared his experiences from early that morning. The blonde girl didn't want to hear the full story, so Shard only talked about the story of "Kiss of the Tree" and its connection to the God Summoning Ritual.
"Miss Feliana."
When Shard showed the notebook and recounted the story of the Academy's founders, Dorothy wore an envious expression.
However, when the conversation turned to Ancient God: Father of the Infinite Tree and the Old God: Blazar Gate, she began to falter, shaking her head and asking Shard not to continue.
Shard then summoned the Ring of Fate, where the second Rune of the Second Ring—the "Kiss of the Tree"—was glowing with a golden Spiritual Light. After "Greed," Shard had acquired another rune associated with a fairy tale's name, only this time, he wasn't the storyteller.
