Steampunk: Sixth Era Epic-Chapter 1016 Exorcism
Chapter 1016: Chapter 1016 Exorcism
Although the eyes did not see, the piercing sounds of curses and maledictions at the ears were almost enough to rupture the eardrums. Meanwhile, the immense terror perceived by the senses seemed to be slowly retreating.
Princess Margaret certainly could not understand the demon language that itself carried curses and malice, but she and Dorothy both understood the enraged final words:
"Just you wait!"
The hand melting into the white light of the emblem wanted to strike down on the three before retreating, but the Moonlight Greatsword was already swinging towards the sky:
"Silvermoon!"
A third color exploded beyond the darkness and pure white holy light, the almost eye-blinding holy silver moonlight finally shattered this bizarre space completely.
The darkness retreated, the indescribable evil existence faded away. As the princess took a deep breath, she suddenly had the feeling of breaking through the surface of water from a great pressure below. The noise reached her ears, and looking around again, everything in the Three Cats Inn was so normal, the bard’s song remained as soothing and tender.
Except for Victor Vanny’s seat, which was now empty, everything seemed unchanged, even the Victor’s Box on the table had vanished, yet she felt like she had just woken up from a long sleep.
The princess finally returned to her senses, gave a muffled hum due to a severe headache, but still used a handkerchief to wipe away the blood at the corner of her eye. At this moment, she heard Shard snap his fingers, ordering three cups of hot tea from the waiter.
Shard had a good relationship with Mrs. Sangmi, even though it was currently the busy time for guests, their tea was still quickly brought up. Shard rummaged in his pocket for holy water, not Holy Water No. 4, but a liquid that Priest Augustus could currently make, similar to Holy Water No. 3, adding two whole bottles into two cups of tea.
After stirring slightly with a teaspoon, he pushed the teacups towards the two ladies. Dorothy’s current state was fine, not only because she had encountered many strange things with the group, not thinking much or looking too closely earlier, but also because the Red Butterfly Pendant she carried was protecting her.
Dorothy took a small sip of the tea, feeling warm all over, curiously looking around, with an expression as if she couldn’t help but want to ask Shard questions. Princess Margaret took a large sip of the tea, her pale face finally gaining a bit of color.
"It seems there was some error in this prediction, truly unfortunate. Originally thought we could obtain a relic, did not expect to encounter this kind of thing."
Shard’s voice sounded, he was genuinely very regretful:
"Sorry, truly sorry."
He expressed his apology to the two ladies:
"It was my fault for bringing you into such a dangerous environment, I will make amends. Don’t worry, that thing was too bold, actually trying to make direct contact with us. My emblem and arcane technique gave it some slight injury..."
Mainly, the emblem made from the bones of the Death Angel by Priest Augustus played a great role, and Shard’s Light Spell gave the final blow. After all, both are almost direct counter measures against Third Era evil spirit demons, it wouldn’t be so simple if it were other opponents.
"Was that really just now..."
Princess Margaret still couldn’t believe it, to her, the legendary Third Era ’evil spirit demon’ was just a legend.
"Yes, a monster from ancient times. For a short period, a week or two, it won’t directly come for us. But we can’t be too relaxed, Dorothy, stay at my place during this time."
Shard held the golden-haired girl’s hand, Dorothy smiled and nodded, she knew this matter was dangerous, but compared to other experiences with Shard, it wasn’t particularly dangerous. Dorothy was very familiar with Shard, just by looking at his expression she knew this matter wasn’t too hard to handle.
"Miss Mary, do you have any High Ring Sorcerers to protect you by your side?"
He asked softly, and after the princess nodded slightly, he said:
"Please try not to stray too far from her these coming days. To prevent accidents, I will also often come to visit you, using..."
"The excuse of learning the Casenric Language."
The girl with pale golden long hair said, realizing how hoarse her voice was as soon as she spoke. Holding onto the teacup, feeling the warmth of the tea, she caught sight of Shard and Dorothy’s hands in her peripheral vision:
"The events of today exceeded my expectations. In the bustling inn in the capital of the Human Kingdom, I had a face-to-face encounter with a Third Era evil spirit... If I spoke of this, no one would believe it."
Shard did not speak, took out a small glass bottle from his pocket— the price of the holy water he bought from Priest Augustus was much cheaper than the container. This kind of special liquid, ’holy water,’ must require containers made of glass, glaze, pure gold, or pure silver, making it not easy to carry.
He placed the holy water bottle on the bench where Victor Vanny had sat earlier, and when the bottom of the bottle touched the wooden surface of the bench, the transparent liquid inside started boiling immediately.
"It is indeed that kind of thing, but don’t worry, I’m quite familiar with them."
Shard retracted the bottle and said: fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
"In fact, I am not surprised by this, the equipment from the Third Era Demon Hunters that I possess, means encountering demons is a fate I am bound to face."
He referred to the Demon Hunting Seal and the Night Watchman.
"This isn’t your first encounter with those evil fiends?"
Princess Margaret lowered her voice, widening her eyes slightly.
"Yes, it’s the third time. Madam, it is nothing remarkable."
This is the truth, compared to the doctor, Shard’s experiences are nothing worth mentioning.
"Don’t worry, I’ll deal with that thing within two weeks."
In his heart, he thought he’d kill it within a week at most, the Outlander wouldn’t dare leave such a terrifying thing snooping around himself and Dorothy:
"During this time, Miss Mary, stay close to the High Ring Sorcerer with you, and I’ll visit you often."
Princess Margaret pursed her lips, watching Shard pour the holy water, which subtly emitted a soft glow, onto the table to check for any demonic traces left behind.
"Mr. Hamilton, following you in the investigation was my own choice, you don’t need to apologize. Today’s experiences were quite rare for a Circle Sorcerer like me trapped in the palace... Demon."
Indeed, she didn’t appear overly worried; instead, a faint, unnatural flush appeared on her face:
"But, do you often encounter such things?"
"Of course not."
Shard shook his head, currently only finding remnants of demonic power on the chair, the table was normal:
"I’m not always unlucky; this time it was an accident. I didn’t expect to receive a commission and run into this kind of situation. Drink that cup of tea; close contact with that thing significantly increases the chances of losing control."
Dorothy doesn’t need to worry about that point; soon Shard will let Miss Writer see her "dark side" after going to the Gate of Darkness in the basement.
He sighed:
"That guy probably won’t dare come back. I’ll have someone check room 413 for contraband later. For now, come home with me; I have a stock of holy water, Miss Mary, you can take some back with you."
"Holy water," as long as it’s sealed and stored in a low-temperature environment, can be kept for a long time. Thus, Shard stored a large batch of it in his basement for emergencies. Even though the effect of Holy Water No. 4 is relatively unnoticeable, Priest Augustus has a large supply and the price is cheap.
Dorothy recovered quickly, enthusiastically taking notes in her notebook. Princess Margaret seemed to still feel unwell; after Shard bought the long bench polluted by demonic power, the three took a carriage back to No. 6, Saint Delan Square.
Entering Shard’s home, the Princess from the Southern Nation noticeably felt better. After Shard took the Night Watchman wrapped in cloth strips and "pierced" a sword at each of the Princess’s brow and chest, her complexion entirely returned to normal.
Todays’ experiences were quite thrilling for even a Circle Sorcerer. After Her Highness the Princess held a simple exorcism ritual in Shard’s attic, she left, arranging for Shard to find her when he had time. She was curious about the so-called "demon," knowledge that isn’t typically accessed by ordinary Circle Sorcerers.
After sending off Princess Margaret, Shard informed Miss Writer that she should stay at No. 6, Saint Delan Square for the next few days:
"Of course!"
Dorothy replied with a smile, hugging the unwilling Mia:
"I know you can solve this matter, don’t feel sorry for involving us in dangerous situations. In summer, when you had just become a Circle Sorcerer, I dragged you into the Joyful Dream Pen’s uncontrollable event, which was similar to the current situation, wasn’t it? We are all Circle Sorcerers, this kind of situation can’t be avoided."
She moved a little closer to Shard:
"However, Lecia and I are soul-bound, will that demon harm her?"
"I’ve considered this. Tonight, while watching the opera, I’ll temporarily lend her the Demon Hunting Seal. So even if she isn’t by my side, she won’t have to worry for a short time."
As long as Lecia doesn’t wander around, the area around Yordle Palace has large-scale exorcism, blessings, and exorcism rituals arranged by the church. The security level of Yordle Palace is second only to the churches of the five True Gods in Tobesk City.
When she heard "opera," Miss Writer smiled:
"Aren’t you going to clean up room 413 at the Three Cats Inn? You should attend to that first; you don’t have to accompany me back to Feather Quill Street to pack my clothes. I’ll tell the landlady I’ll be staying out for a few days; hopefully, she doesn’t think I’m a bad girl."
"You should take the Night Watchman with you."
"Yes, yes, very cautious."
Dorothy said, then lowered her voice slightly:
"Remember to hurry up and come back after you’re done with everything. I’ve picked out an outfit for you; bathe before you go to the opera with Lecia. She’s looking forward to tonight; after all, she’ll rarely be able to use her body to go out alone with you."
After speaking, she added:
"She chose an opera that lasts four hours this time."
Shard thought for a moment and then asked softly in her ear, Miss Writer blushingly shook her head:
"Tonight is Lecia’s time, I wouldn’t interrupt you... have fun."
